In the version you show at the start of the tutorial, the glass is kinda flickering or the vignette is expanding or contracting, I can't decide.
It looks really cool and adds something.
What did you do to achieve this? just opacity keyframes?

For those who are wondering how to fix the displacement map that only covers part of the screen.

How can I make my text approach the glass all at once (instead of letter by letter)? I tried just not including the "Enable Character per 3D" but that didn't let me add Z-space. I can't use "Based on Line" because my text is two lines. I'm at a loss.

With a few of your tutorials are already done for us if we wanted to use them, can't you do it for this one? Pretty please, I can't do after effects, it's one of my weakest parts of editing. I'm making a horror film for my finale major project and I need a title sequence and this looks perfect. Can anyone help me out?

Could you apply this to footage? Like to texture a face or other body part? I noticed that when you solo'd the text after collapsing the transformation, it looked like scarring around the edges. Would you just apply a normal map to a displacement map adjustment layer and then mask it in the shape you wanted and track it to that body part?

Hey I feel like I'm just missing something obvious, but I can't get my text to animate to the blur like you do around 3:20. I repeated it about a hundred times, but my text doesn't react to the blur effect. I have no clue why. Any suggestions?

Yo something I would really like to know - I'm trying to make an intro / logo for a youtube channel which will be my team in LoL and I wanted to know if it was possible to have a starnengly formed iceblock that has that effect, then have fire / fire text INSIDE the iceblock?

Great tutorial. Built on this one by using all ice and glass textures from the pro shaders (masked, tiled, displaced and distributed in z space) to make a pretty convincing pond ice. Built on Laurence Grayson's "Sands of Time" tutorial with some additional layers and effects to make some pretty decent snow. Then smashed the two of them together.

hey there! love your tutorial. i recently purchased after effects but whilst trying to follow this tutorial, i realised that when i put on the 3d mode, the blur would stop so it would just go in normally. it was just the blur that didnt work and i was wondering how to fix this?

Hi guys, i've a big problem at 6'45 to replace the ice-diffuse by the ice-normal. I can't replace it cause it put it under or below but never replace pfff can someone help me pls? thx by advance

Dude, I just wanted to say that I love you before I start testing out this tutorial. You have a lovely, soft and comforting voice which will come in handy when I get closer to the end of this video. This is such an amazing effect and you're just the best for charing you're knowledge!

What did Andrew do between 9.23 and 9.25 to change the image so dramatically? I was following everything up until that point and was getting the same results but at 9.25 the diffused background suddenly changed colour and appeared flatter.

Why does the adjustmentlayer with the displacement map effect on it only displace the left side of my komp...? I did everyhing like in the tutorial. I got CS5.

WOW! crazy effects you are a god! I was wondering during the tutorial how you would make the text crack through the ice, and have the ice exploded all over. Like maybe have some of the text showing and parts of is actually sicking in the ice.

I ran into one problem. When I try to use the DOF, the text does not soften properly and text pixelates strongly. When I take off the effects from the text layer, DOF works as it should. Can you help with this? How did you do DOF in your video?

I must say; what an amazing tutorial!
My results varied each time I did it, though..
I downloaded your Project Files, which seemed to only include the Ice.jpg and the Ice Normal.jpg .
It would've been alot better if you could share the project that YOU did ( it is soo much better! )
