My after effects 2020 is saying there is an error with expression error. What did I do wrong?

Just figured out my problem below.
In case someone have the same problem:
my 3d renderer was set to "cinema 4d" instead of "classic 3d" inside composition setings
Tarik

Thanks! This is a great tutorial.
I have a problem,
after adding and adjusting the curves to the [fractal noise] layer, he makes it a 3D layer and then change the blending mode to "screen". The blending mode drop down disappears after I enable 3D in that layer.

Anyone know how I do that (3d + blending mode)?

W and V transforms the mouse info different tools. W enables you to rotate the layer and V resets the pointer to normal pointer. He simply rotates the layer and makes it bigger.

Fantastic as always, only problem.. the toComp expression gives an error saying it can't find the Point layer. Is this a bug in after effects or are we doing something wrong?
Steven
This is driving me crazy, when I use the toComp expression it gives me an error saying it can't find the Point layer or that the Point layer doesn't exist, even though I just pic whipped it. What's the deal?

Is anyone else having issue getting the expression to work? I am using the following code: .toComp([0,0,0,)];

I have tried with and without the last ",". Additionally I have tried ([0,0,0,]); however I keep getting an error

Here is my error message. After Effects Warning does not have a value Expression disabled.

Thanks for the help.

I have tried to follow your video tutorial. I am trying to learn AE and I seriously cannot follow you, you move along far too fast. You click on icons and do not explain what you are doing. You should not assume that people following your tutorial just know WHERE to click... I would love to be able to show something like a light effect but this is not a tutorial that I am going to recommend.
Barry
Actually the problem with you is you don't know the basics of after effects, So first learn the basics beacause he is not going to tell about every single thing.
Hope you have got my point.
Jacob

How about you start with BASIC tutorials? This is an advanced AE tutorial. Also don't exaclty copy what is shown in the tutorial, be creative

So, when I go to push the light source behind the text, it doesn't move itself behind the text. Unless I swap the layers so the Adjustment layer and light source are behind the text, they are always in front. The problem is that I don't get the effect. Why does it react differently for me? Other than that, I love the tutorials.

Hey guys,

I tried this, but I get really ugly crispy artifacts around the light source.
You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvcn99wPIic

Any ideas? And no, its not the antialiasing. I tried several options, always the same.

I had the same issue, but figured it out. Andrew's cheat sheet was mistyped. (6:46), but he did insert the correct code in the video. delete the layers "Volume light" and "point", and recreate them again. this time, enter the code - .toComp([0,0,0)]; it works. keep up the good work!

Very basic "problem" I'm having, trying to research but research itself is hard for a noob, you don't know what to ask. When I use the orbit camera tool, it's not "tight" like in your example, I think because of the huge floor. A very slight movement causes the whole text/light/etc to fly off the screen, because it's orbiting around the whole floor, and I can't really use it to see positioning of the elements - I have to go to top view. I figured one would use the pan behind tool to set a pivot point for this but can't figure out how. If anybody can answer this before I find out independently, I'll be your friend

Making the simple things look amazing! That's what Video Copilot seems to be about. I really enjoyed this tutorial and when you made the fractal noise, for some reason, I thought it looked a lot like the "galaxy" or "outer space" shots that Marvel has been coming out with in their movies. Note that on cs5.5 the Solid composite effect did not have a "None" setting. boo. I suppose I could tweak contrast and brightness a bit on the fractal.
