Anyway, for what its worth, id like to see how the gladiator fight effect is done then maybe a bird flying around in a room and Im good. Ive done the basic and about 6 tutorials and still can get my head around some stuff.. Like still dont even dare to aspire to things like the spacecraft dropping to the sun in the movie "sunshine". What a masterpiece! am still gaga googoo boobie bang over the sound effects not to mention the visuals. Talk about an attitude realignment stick.. good grief.

Nice tutorial!
But, I've seen around four times, and there is something kinda bugging me a bit. And the specular for the left eye is there all the way, when the right specular is starting somewhere in the middle.
But it was easy to fix, I just cut the specular clip until it matched the startpoint of the right one. But I'm surprised you missed that tiny detail. Regards from Norway!

Great tutorial - it really knocked me down on my ass
But there is one qestion for youIm useing AAE 7.0 and when i insert my footage and create the null object i right click on my footage, i cant choose Track motion couse its gray (well im not allowed to do it), any idea how to fix it ?

Please help. At 7:46 into this tutorial you talk about adjusting the mask on the eye by key framing it. You said that if I hit "M" while the medium green solid is selected that it will bring up "Mask Shape". For some reason when I try hit "M", "Mask Path" comes up. I hit the little arrow next to Mask 1 and there is no "Mask Shape". What am I doing wrong? Or this the software somehow screw up???

My 'eyereference' turns really odd when I enable Alpha Matte. It has small black dots all around the eye and a vertical black line that goes about 3/4 of the way up on the center of my eye. This is only when I enable the Alpha Matte. I've gone through the tutorial 4 times from scratch and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Anyone?

Good stuff. Even thou, you could do that empty eye element in a seconds at photoshop, but then again, this is a AE tutorial. Great work.

Just one point, the specular highlight doesn't match the other eye in position and opacity, and should both move and fade into position as the head tilts up. Minor point, but the devil is in the detail!

I was wondering though if you know how to parent aspects of different effects on different layers in a comp to each other. I have an effect I'm working on and I want to parent the center location of a lens flare on one layer, to the end point of a lighting bolt on another layer and the placement of a ccSphere effect to the lense flare as well. Is there a way to do this with or without code? If you know could you please tell me?

Hi, what about if the eye needs to blink? Or revealing the eye as you open your eye? I thought of just moving parts of the mask so that it's in line with the bottom portion.... but when I did it you could still see a little bit of it... Any suggestions?

I know it has nothing to do with this particular tutorial, but I didn't know where else to ask this- I'm pretty sure I saw a tutorial on this site once that showed how to crush a person with a rock (kind of an Indiana Jones style) and I can't find it anywhere. Can you maybe help me out? I need to drop an anvil on someone and a little unsure as to how I do that.

I'm in film school in South Wales UK. Anyway we were in groups of 4 to 6 last term, and one of the other groups dished out 60 pounds on a pair of cats eye contact lenses. Shame they didn't know of After Effects.

Great tutorial. I was just wondering how easy it would be to track a whole head (for a ghost in the shell laughing man logo overlay) or if I would just have to do it the hard way?
