Hi there,
I'm following this tutorial cause i need to reproduce the material u built at min. 5:22.
I use AF CC2015 so something's little different but that's no the problem... I noticed that when u change the value of Intensity Reflection (in my case there's no the voice Reflection but Refraction) at min. 4:54 the preview in the Scene materials windows changes... not in my preview! So i'm not able to reproduce the material of the example in the tutorial.... i can't understand why

Hey Andrew, great tutorial again! I've got an idea, you should put the tutorial video on torrent site instead of letting people download it from your server, usually it takes loooog time to finish download!

At 7:50, I saw you change the direction of the light (in E3D).
How can I do like that with the mouse? I mean I can only rotate the model, not the light.

Hi, Great tutorial. I am trying to learn element 3d. When I use the models that come with element 3d or the model packs eg motion design or the basic primitives then the textures in the pro shaders work as they do in this video (eg http://www.haydnallbutt.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Included-Model.jpg). When I try to add them to my own obj model I just get the base material, eg the brass or bronze colour but not the texture (eg http://www.haydnallbutt.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/My-Model.jpg). What am I doing wrong. It seems to work perfectly in all the tutorials. Thanks Heaps.

The masking of the logo works much better if you use a vector image. Dragging it to your composition then right click and "Create shapes from vector layer" gives you the perfect shape to turn into a mask.

Hey Andrew! Love ur work btw, I was wondering when the project will be able to be downloaded. Because I'm having a hard time trying to find some sound effects for my friends logo and I cant seem to find some that will work perfectly. Wondering... (maybe a CS6 issue?) When I place my PS file in the comp and do auto trace, it does not trace, even with preview on. If I do as Andrew does and use a jpg, it does trace but also traces the border as well. More importantly... in the video, when he does create the path, it doesn't create a new layer with that path - but for me it does. Any help would be great.

I have various objects, in various solids, because each needs to be a different colour. Now i have come to a problem; When i do the World Rotation, each word rotate around itself, and not as a whole word, which i understand 100%. But does anyone know a way to make it, so it thinks that it is one object?

Awesome Plug in. For those needing answers, I am sure the peeps at VCP are busy, but maybe I can help, long time user, first time post.
Denkoo - You need to be creating 16 bit comps or larger and you have to have a good graphics card, not great, but good and a recent intel machine to really have this plug in work.
Ettiene Rodriguez - It produces amazing result, but just remember, the depth of field Field, starts at the default camera postion, if you are dolly'd in tight on your object, the depth of field will be super shallow and hard to manage, just be patient and make small moves on the aperture and focus distance.
MJ(_M_)Batman - Check your channels within the scene set up, each object needs its own place, also make sure separate objects is checked under each element object in the scene setup.
Glinson AJ - See the 8 bit to 16 bit issue above.
If anyone else has answers to help our fellow AE users, always post them and share. For those who want to view my channel on YouTube, here is the video I made using the tutorial, no moving objects, just depth of field, small cuts, lens flares and multi beveled objects.

Great Tutorial so far- but quick Question:
I'm at minute 12 when you create the light- but when i move the "Point of Interest" my lighting doesn't change. If i move it's "Position" it changes, but I'm curious why my "Point of Interest" would be unresponsive? Anybody know why this may be happening?

OH MY FREGGIN' GOD..!
My head just blew up with a fat, sploshing sound...
Spent the last hour checking out the promos for Element trying to make the figures for the plugin and packs to match my budget ... and didn't really understand what the support for jpeg actually implied...
And now you show me this! Created from a pixel based jpeg, Element and some shaders ... now THAT puts a whole new dimension to Elements !!!
Absolutely mindblowing awsome - noting short of it. Your on. Element is a definite buy. Already got the full pack of Optical Flares and my mind is running super hot over that combo.
The part of my brain that isn't scattered around the floor, that is ..
Sorry - have some cleaning up to do here ..

Hello Andrew!
I am a 16 year old guy, interested in motion graphics, watching your tutorials for more than a year. However, I have a really slow pc, so I had to stop it, I can't make graphics at the moment, and I can't try out this new plugin. I do not want anybody to feel sorry or to say "oh, poor me" or anything like that, I am cool with my life and stuff.
What I want to say is even if I can't make, I watch all your tutorials, just for the feeling, because this half hour of sitting quietly with my mouth wide open and smiling (yeah, I know, it's kind of creepy, like Joker or something
) is worthless!
In almost every minute there is a voice shouting in my head: "Oh my god oh my god how did you do that?! & That looks soooo amazing, unbelievable" and things like that.
I honestly do not exaggerate when I say watching this is like watching an amazing movie for the first time (like Shawshank Redemption, one of my favourite, to get the point) for me.
Thank you for making me forget all my things for a while (even though my parents aren't so happy about it!
) and thank you for being so inspirational, creative and kind enough to share all this talent with us!
Keep up the good work, Andrew!
Cheers from Hungary

Quick question. I followed this using just a simple self generated mask from a solid. I noticed that when I play with the bevel settings, they only effect the front side. Is there a way to have the rear look the same so when I do the animation, it looks nice?
Thanks,

I also think that such a great plugin should come with a descent Documentation and How to-s
Take 3DMax for example. Autodesk teach you every little aspect of the program with lots of detailed, picture referenced, project-oriented documentation.
All of the above doesn't contradict the fact that this is the most advanced, and coolest Plugin I have ever used (using it in my studio already, great results!)
But please, Andrew, address this situation where we need to "struggle" to finds our hands inside this Deep Reaching Plugin.
Thirsty for much more Tutorials.
Like someone said, I would have bought it myself if it came with a descent amount of project-oriented videos / a long and comprehensive PDF guide.
Would be great to hear from you about it.
Love everything about your site, from the tutorials, to the plugins, to the jokes and of course the inspiration you give us.
Cheers,

Any chance you can make future files iOS compatible?
Many thanks

Great tutorial.
I would love to see a tutorial on how you built that sound track. I have ProScores, and Sound FX, but I don;t think those sounds are in there.

I'm curious, does it treat masks the same an obj file in the respect of no animation? Like, will it just sample the first frame of that layer or what? I can think of some kind of neat abstract effects that could be achieved by using an animated mask, if possible. Just tossing it out there! I plan on getting the shindig in the next week or so. Looking forward to playing with it!

Outstanding work, Andrew!
Quick question: Are those sound effects available on Designer Sound FX or are they from a personal collection?

When cs6 came out I was thinking your plugin was obsolete before it came out... now I think you just made the cs6 3d updates obsolete! Granted the cs6 updates do raytracing... but even on a beast of a machine, this takes forever to render. Very nice work guys. More tutorials for this the better... I'm still stumbling around a bit trying to figure it out!!

Awesome work!
I have couple of questions though: I don't necessarily have to have a 3D program to create an object that I want to use in AE right? I can just create a logo or any vector graphics; save them as jpg/png and so forth and import them into AE - and that should work, right? Someone please help!

Awesome Andrew. Thank you!
Can't seem to change the point of interest on my lights with Element on a layer. Does anyone have any clue what I'm missing? Thanks in advance...

Awesome - have to try out the mask path idea.
Question though: Yours seems to handle Element + OF + camera/lights pretty well @ 720p. Trying a similar but deliberately overloaded setup (10s 1080p + Element + OF + light + Particular) on mine it crashes OpenGL but leaves AE running. I had to restart it constantly & finish animating keyframes blind w/Caps Lock on...
Still rendered fast, but that clearly won't work for longer shots or multiple instances
What workflow would you recommend to avoid crashing OpenGL? Composite w/Element and render it out, then add OF (what I ended up doing)? Some kind of multipass workflow (I think it's called 5th Element)? If I use separate comps/pre-comps will it lessen the strain on my card? Or is it all lumped together in OpenGL memory regardless & I'm stuck either pre-rendering, dropping down to 720p (or smaller), etc?
Mid-2011 Macbook Pro, so the card is "pretty good" but not upgradeable... Awaiting 16GB RAM upgrade, but I don't think that will matter much if OpenGL craps out, right?
Thanks!

Man... I'm sorry, but autoresize of the shapes looks silly for me. Why would the inner peace gets bigger to fit other shape instead of being default by the size of it's mask? AE API doesn't provide layer size calculation or am I something miss here?

What's happened if i don't want the title to rotate as the logo?
I must create it on a new and separate element layer?

Great stuff, Andrew - I'm really impressed with the balance in speed vs. quality. With all due respect, I have a few concerns though: I don't quite feel that the documentation is "up-to-parre". I enjoy your tutorials as much as the next guy, but I'm wasting time trying to navigate, select and edit models, materials, groups, presets. Just clicking frantically, until I reach the results I'm after. The help files state WHAT you can do, but not really HOW you do it. Documentation work is boring (I know from experience), but IMHO it needs to be done. One other thing: The automatic "scale reset" of imported models may be convenient for the novice, but I might run into trouble down the road, where I need an object to have the exact same size, as in my 3D app. If you use scenes with 3D tracked footage, a hit and miss approach with a unit or percentage spinner could pose a few problems. Regardless, this is a fantastic product, and I wish all the best. Thanks!

Thanks Andrew for this very great tut! It will save me many days of trials. I'm now really looking forward to your showing us how to set up the animated interpolation between two objects.
All this, and I know you are busy with the Family too!
Many thanks Man!

The more I use element the more I like it. A no-brainer purchase. \^^/

This is exactly the tutorial I was going to ask you for. Been reading our minds again. I bought Elements as soon as it was released. I have not been disappointed with it yet. I have other 3d programs for most of my work and this is really going to be very helpful to speed some of our work up,

You keep doing things in the plug in and I am out loud say "that soo cool!" You have included so many great features in this plug in, most software isn't so fully featured and well thought out until their 3rd or 4th versions!

Hey Andrew!
I was curious if lens flares are able to blink out behind 3D objects created in Element.
THANKS!

Hey Andrew,
Your plugin is amazing. Game changing.
BUT.
When Optical flares got out I bought it the same day. including Pro Presets 1 & 2 Later on.
The reason I got it so fast was because it was packed with TUTORIALS, who taught me all the features.
I kinda expected that such a great product like Element 3D would come with your brilliant teaching on the product.
(not talking about the demos or walkthroughs, which are perfect).
Can we expect more tutorials soon?
Should we Expet
