I have an AMD Radeon HD 6970 on my Imac, 2gb VRAM and 32 gb ram, AE it's unusable with Element, can anyone tell if this card is supported or better yet point me to a list of officially supported cards?

My name is Whitney Alexander and I recently purchased the ELement 3D Plugin. I have created an animation that is due on Friday for a projection job using an aspect ratio of 2048 x 2048 in After Effects.

Everything looks really great, the plugin is super fast and easy to use, I get great feedback from clients as a result of the plugin. But here's the catch, when I rendered it out last night (with alpha),it rendered nothing, as in when I hit play on the quicktime file, it just shows a video of black, no element 3d animation, nothing!

I'm running on a 2.5 gHz quad-core i5 with an AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB graphics card. I am assuming that it is just my graphics card. But you should tell people what graphics card requirements are needed in order to buy your plugin. Rather than just leaving that bit out and allowing for thousands of your fellow industry pro's to shoot themselves in the foot. Would an NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory be better? I ask so that I know what kind I should get so that I can render this out before Friday. There is an Apple store right down the street, and I can get one if I need it.

Hey you guys!

This plugin rocks! I'm running it on my brand-new Quadro FX 4000, BUT it crashes while preview rendering and while export rendering when using multi-processors. Don't know what the cause is. Single processor works fine. (Dell Precision T7800, 12 Cores, 8 GB Ram, All-new drivers and freshly installed Win 7)

I don't think that card is supported. But if you can't find a machine that you can use it on, just email us and we will refund your purchase! We did our best to allow as many cards in as possible but this was is not quite enough power.

amazing plugin.... but i cant help think of the ramifications this will have on the 3D industry...now anyone can start producing quality 3D work, the price will go down and we will start having to work harder for less money

One thing I'm not too crazy about the plug in is that whenever I do something that change the lighting or material, let it be moving the camera, turn off the light, it'll stuck for a while and after about 20 sec or so things still to pick up speed again.
are things loaded into cache or something? is that normal?

Hey Andrew... I was wondering if its possible to use the Plexus OBJ sequence importer, or something like it, to import animated .obj sequences into the plugin... If not, this would definitely be a great feature to add for a future update... Spent a few hours playing around yesterday...

Also, was wondering if there is a way to scale on certain axes? Like in the Grid Array, #6, the stacked cubes? I need to make the lines longer... Thanks again man... You have revolutionized our industry with another AMAZING product...

Is it possible to to use a 3d layer to block off far away particles?
Sort of like the obscuration layer in particular.
It would be cool if you would do this without using multiple copies of element.

I'm working with a MacPro (12 Core) and ATI HD 5870 with AECS6 and no issues.

But I do have one question: Why can't we use Shapes in addition to Masks and Text to extrude?
I imported my Logo from Illustrator and all I can do is to convert it to Shapes. Auto Trace doesn't do it very well when converting to a Mask.

They are not available as vector shapes to the plug-in. Basically it is not supported by After Effects.

This plug-in is incredible and it gave us all immediate joy upon seeing what After Effects can finally do with 3D models.

I have but one question, though. Can you animate in Element3D with armatures from a 3D program (such as Maya or Max), and have those armatures affect the animation of your model?

I am asking whether or not you can animate a human in Elelement3D. Since Element3D has such great capabilities for 3D models, and you have already discussed through tutorials of how you could animate in the plug-in, I think taking it a step further and applying that same brilliance to CG humans would be incredible.

I am always having crashes when loading certain materials or turning on Ambient Occlusion. Gives me a GPU error. Using a Intel HD Graphics 4000 in the latest 2012 MacBook Pro. Anyone else having this issue?

This is amazing work Andrew. I'd like to convince my company to purchase this for our design team. Would it be acceptable to purchase 1 Broadcast Bundle for all the elements and then purchase 20+ licenses of the plugin for the computers and render farm?

Has Adobe approached you and your team yet to work for them? You're really developing a fantastic brand for VCP.

Hey there! I know there are already a few having problems with the ATI HD 5770 so I'm on the fence of purchasing this amazing plugin. If I could update the card I would but there isn't an update for the card on the mac end.

I have an early 2009 MacPro with 2.93 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor with 16GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC memory.

Also use CS6 AE with OS Lion 10.7.4

....will this amazing plugin work? Man I wish there was a demo before I purchase it.

I don't care if there is a giant X through it I just want to make sure it works first. The card isn't on the recommended list.

Thoughts and recommendations? Should I wait for some updates first? Will there be any updates for this specific card or is it too old?

We are working on a Mac ATI bug that should be fixed next week and we'll have an update. This is some serious software, we are going to polish it out! And of course if the plug-in doesn't work for your configuration, full refund. No questions.

If you have CS6, there's a new option to convert Illustrator files to shape objects. Here's the details from Adobe:
Vector Art Footage-to-Shape Conversion (CS6)
In previous versions of After Effects you could import an Illustrator (.ai), EPS (.eps), or PDF (.pdf) file, however you could not modify the file. In After Effects CS6, you can create a shape layer from a vector art footage layer, and then modify it.
With the ability to bevel and extrude objects in After Effects CS6, you can extrude the artwork (for example, extruded logos), as well. See Extruding text and shape layers.
To convert a vector art footage layer to shape layer:
?Choose Layer > Create Shapes from Vector Layer. A matching shape layer will appear above the footage layer, and the footage layer will be muted.
The following issues are known:
?Not all features of Illustrator files are currently preserved. Examples include: opacity, images, and gradients.
?Converted shapes ignore PAR overrides specified in the Interpret Footage dialog box.
?Gradients and unsupported types may show as 50% gray shapes.
?Files with thousands of paths may import very slowly without feedback.
?The menu command works on a single selected layer at a time.

Matt & JJ - I spoke (or posted) too soon. After I got Element 3D installed last night, I tried this out. Element can only render text and mask paths. The ray-trace engine within AE can render the shape layer. I ended up auto-tracing the Illustrator layer and got some decent results - I'll play around with it a little more tonight. Another option I might look into is getting a font creator program and build a font with my vector logos (I've done this in the past with an older text-only 3D program). Unfortunately, none of the options retain the original color settings.

For this particular instance, I want to take a 3 color athletic logo and bring it in. I've noticed it doesn't retain color and that's fine. What I would like to easily to in element is to selected the different colored sections, recolor them and extrude/bevel/apply effects as need to each section separate from the others. In theory, super simple. But I want to do it in Element.

It appears that After Effects crashes with my imported 3D .obj files only... I can see and manipulate the object while I am in After Effects. But as soon as I save, close and try to re-open the file it crashes... So weird... It works fine with all of the Studio Bundle packs... I am able to open those fine after saving.

Any ideas?

Ok this is a weird development in this issue... I moved the file that housed the after effects file and moved it from my CLIENTS folder to my Desktop and opened it... works fine!!!!!

I know something tweaked out so I'm sure you guys will get to the bottom of that... but in case anyone has this same issue... just give the desktop trick a go. *shrug* it works. lol Thanks so much for responding Andrew, you made an AMAZING AMAZING plugin, you guys are Incredible over there... I will share work in the forum when I get some utilization down.

For those with issues via PayPal payment....Althought I did not receive an officail download link email...I requested a new password and was able to login with that. I then saw that Element 3D was ready to download. Downloaded and installed with 0 issues!

Just to report that after a small day-long glitch in the payment processing/downloading dept., this plugin installed fine on my 'early 2011' MacBook Pro, which uses the ATI AMD Radeon HD 6490M GPU. Adobe's GPU-raytrace support for this card for AE CS6 is nonexistant, but guess what? Element 3D FLIES. Screams. Built-in RAM is 4Gigs (which is about to be bumped to 8, but I don't see any problem with the 4 I've got now). Most (if not all) of what I'll need to do for an upcoming job using 3D text will be easy and fast using Element; The new CS6 ray-tracing renderer will be off for probably all of my renders. Thanks for offering this wonderful software, and at a great price.

For everyone who paid with PayPal and are having download link issues:

I also paid with PayPal and didn't receive a download link. Wait awhile and then log into Video Copilot's download system, there you should be able to download Element 3D along with any bundles you purchased.

That's what I did and now I'm fully up and running with Element on my machine. For those of you who don't have an account prior to the purchase, try requesting a reset password, it may send it to your PayPal email. Other than that, continue waiting for support.

Amazing opportunities in this project. Can you use animated 3D scenes from C4D or any other 3D app? I didn't see if this was an option. I also wanted to know if I get two licenses for both my desktops if I have to get 2 licenses for pro materials or any of the model packs as well. Thinkin' if I get two licenses for element I don't need to spend double on the added features.

When I try for some shallow depth of field, the AE camera won't focus perfectly, no matter where I put the focus plane. Comes close but never there 100%. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong...

Do you have the comp preview set to FULL resolution? or "half", or even "auto", in which case if you have zoomed out 50% it will render at Half resolution. When the resolution is lowered below "Full", pixels can appear blurry even when in focus.
If you have it on Full, perhaps you have zoomed in 200%? Zoom out to 100% and Full res. If it's still blurry, try adjusting the camera aperture, lower aperture creates a deeper focal range which means more of the object will be in focus.
If that doesn't work, you may have a blur filter applied, check the effect settings on the element layer or any adjustment layers you have.
I THAT all fails and it's still blurry, perhaps you need glasses?

I would love to see someone push the limis and possibilities of this plug-in, maybe even use their brain to produce something inspirational.

I primarily work at 4K...occasionally 6K.
Does Element 3D render at that those resolutions?

I understand if "scrub-through" performance is slow. That's not a issue.

Hahah, funny thing. The net here an there already started brabbling about Element 3D and it's "Limitations".
I belive they just can't believe what they are getting to see here.

Hands down: VCP is THE software company of the month and of the past 10 years!

VCP E3D for 150 Bucks compared to 399 Bucks for another commercial 3rd party plugin plugin that only creates particles, is way more than just a bargain!!

I'm am running in to some of the same issues that have already been mentioned. The screen turns black when I enable animation while using 2 fractured floor objects (1 in each channel). The problem is that my card is an ATI Radeon HD 3870 and the drivers aren't on the ATI site so there is no way for me to update them. I'm running 10.6.8

I've also emailed support.

Can someone answer this question? It appears to me the ability to manipulate up to five objects in an instance of Element 3D requires the object to have been saved with layers. To my knowledge, OBJs don't save layer information. So this is really a feature available only to C4D users then, correct? I would like to be wrong about this.

Got it last night -- AWESOME!

One thing I noticed was that if I have motion blur enabled, the 3D object remains static as I try to rotate it with the camera tool. I can see the lights in the scene move in relation to the camera; but the 3D object remains still. If I turn off motion blur, I am able to rotate the object again.

Anyone else experiencing the same thing? One thing I didn't do was update my video card driver; but will do so later today.

Video Card is GTX 570.

This is actually most an AE bug with camera aware 3D plug-ins. Try to purge the cache and it should update. Does it only happen on the first frame?

I'll try purging the cache when I get home this evening and let you know. I'm not 100% sure but I don't believe I was on the first frame -- I'll have to test this later as well.

Update: Without updating the video driver or clearing the cache, I was not able to use the camera tool to rotate the 3D object with motion blur enabled (on any frame). After updating my graphics driver, I can now rotate the 3D object on any frame except the first one like you mentioned.

Purging the cache file didn't help the first frame though. Does purging work for you, or do you get the same results?

This question might have already been answered, but will the Element 3d plugin work on a laptop?
I have a toshiba satellite, core i3, 6gb of ram, intel(r) hd graphics 3000, directx 10.1, min graphics memory 64mb/max 1696mb,
processor intel 64 family 6 model42 stepping7.
Hopefully that's all the info you need to determine if this Awesome plugin will work on my laptop.

Amazing plug-in! I really like the pro texture materials, too. Two questions: Can you load in your own custom textures as well? Will all the filters in AE also work on these 3D objects?

I've seen a couple of questions regarding the helicopter model in the demo, but haven't found an answer. It doesn't appear in any of the packages but will it be available in a new package? Perhaps a transportation bundle? I could use some kick ass UFO models for my invasion shorts. And don't make any jokes about my shorts being invaded.

Ya... the only problem is that AE won't always refresh it so you have to make sure to clear your cache before rendering. But it can be cool.

Great plugin. Now that I have it - it really rocks! Lots of useful features and great overall performance make this one of the best plugins out there.

Yet, there are wishes to be fulfilled The top features that should be added IMO are:

(1) True displacement mapping textures! That would be AWESOME!
(2) Import of OBJ sequences and automatable OBJ index control. For dedicated 3D object animation!
(3) Support for NVidia PhysX or some similar physics simulation for gravity, wind and turbulence influence on each piece.

With these features Element 3D would be PERFECT. Meanwhile ist just very very good

I noticed on Twitter last night (from @AdobeAE) that Toolfarm.com has an additional 5% discount on the Element 3D family of products. Honest, I feel I wouldn't use this plugin as much as others..while I do more Photoshop work.
But I'm still going to buy this package to support Video Copilot's team... I think it's rare to see this kind of quality and passion in their work. And I love the fact that they make it so financially possible for everyone to take advantage!

I was bummed to see that the Nvidia GE Force 120 GT on my $5000 8 core mac from 2.5 years ago was on the limited list. After contacting Mac, they told me that I can't even update to a faster card because of the Mac architecture! F'd.....What exactly does limited mean? So bummed....

I talked to a very high ranking Apple Certified repair guy and he said for legal issues, Mac cannot support a graphics card that did not exist at the time the machine was manufactured. That being said, people are running the ATI Radeon HD 5770 on first generation mac pros without problem. Just installed it in my 2009. Works like a charm, minus the general Animation Engine glitch a lot of Mac folks are having...

I saw a post earlier that said you have to import the illustrator file and then copy the paths on to a mask, then you will be able to extrude.

A question : I'm working with extruded text layers. The scale and extrusion of the text changes automatically depending on the length of the text. Is there a way to keep the same size of text and extrusion even if the word contains more letters ?

As someone with no knowledge of 3D programs - I need some help on how to retexture 3D models. All the models I want to use are pretty much useless for they don't import with their textures.
Above you say: "You can however drag and drop maps into the texture slots for each material. Be sure to turn on the melange library in your file preference inside C4D before saving files to be used in Element." That info is nothing I can work with. I am a little deflated right now...

i´m about to order the "element 3d studio bundle".

One quick Question... about the licensing.

if i oder 1" studio bundle" and 2 additional licenses for "element 3d" only...
am i allowed/able to use the 3d-models and the pro shaders with those 2 additional versions of "element 3d" ?
in other words... are the pro shaders and 3d models locked to only one license/copy of "element 3d"?

I have now the FULL BUNDLE and happy .. ;o)

I have a little problem with it. It crashes as soon as i try to Preview-Render. OpenGL has detected a problem. I think there will be more crashes if i would try to create something more complex.
I use "nVidia Quadro FX 4600" with the newest drivers. I just updated them yesterday. By using some elements like gras and trying to make a grasfield, it crashes again .. and everything is gone ( .. I need your help please !

My System:
- Intel i7-975 Extreme CPU
- nVidia Quadro FX 4600
- 12 GB RAM
- Win Vista 64bit
- Adobe After Effects CS 5.0

Video RAM is important. But Quadro Cards or Geforce Cards? There I can't decide. Element gives me the impression of a game engine. But OpenGL features are also the key on the other side. Will Quadro Cards do any more good than the Geforce Cards ? Much significant difference ?

Seems like I found a bug (not very important though..) :
When I try to import an .obj from a server drive, the preview is empty and top left infos are : vertices : 0 ; faces : 0 ;..)

If I just copy the .obj on my desktop, it works!

Hey Andrew,

I reckon you were porting optical flares for Nuke.
Is element going to receive the same treatment? it could really be a huge thing for vfx, seeing the speed it has. I was especially impressed with the helicopter demo.

Also, do you plan on using the stencil buffer to simulate shadows?

Just took a moment break to comment. Everything from order to download to install went without a hitch! (Mac Pro 2010, 32 Gigs, ATI 5770) works FANTASTIC! Even tried loading a model about 60,000 polys just for fun - was expecting a crash, but it loaded fine (was slow, but that's expected) Everything else was very FAST! - May not get any sleep tonight! Can't wait to dive into this more.

Atomkraft doesn't sport fast GPU/OpenGL rendering. Instead it uses CPU-driven raytracing through Delight rendering engine.

I would love to see a tutorial on how to apply this new plugin with 3D camera tracking capabilities. I was exciting about this for the sole purpose of applying 3D material to a complex camera track and yet the process so far, to me, has been quite complicated...or maybe I'm just an idiot. For now, I'll go with me being an idiot until I see a response. Thank you nonetheless for creating such a great and powerful plugin for all us creative types to use and to look super cool for our clients.

did a test render of a product model I have, works great, in v-ray it renders 2 minutes without any effect (optical flare, background..etc)
with Element I get to render it for 11 sec with DOF!!

can't wait to play for some more and use it for future projects!

Thank you for such a timely response!

I'm running Mac OS X 10.7.4 with an AMD Radeon HD 6770M card on the late 2011/early 2012 macbook pro. I've checked that all my software and drivers are up to date. Element boots up perfectly and loads beautiful models without hesitation, but as soon as I check the animation engine box I get the infamous beach ball, then about a minute later a crash. After Effects remains open but Element turns to video noise and remains unresponsive unless I disable the animation engine.

I have a 2011 iMac with the AMD HD6970M and have the latest updates installed and I'm experiencing the exact same thing. I can load models fine but as soon as I enable the animation engine I get the spinning ball and then the screen updates with a load of video noise. I hope this is just a minor glitch with a workaround.

Thank god I'm not alone. I have a feeling it's just a minor bug that the VC team is going to iron out in a few days. I can't blame them really, they built their own 3D render engine. In After Effects.

Go to http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/343858-33-best-video-card-graphic-design-modeling Adobe needs slightly different cards than you would expect for great 3d. Element is by no means a gentle giant. It wants to eat your computer alive, but if you wait long enough and be patient the giant will poop out fantastic 3d renders IN AFTER EFFECTS!!!

i have the same problem, macpro 2007, quad core, 14 GB ram and ATI HD RADEON 5770 1 GB, everything works fine but when i turn on animation engine also white screen with video noise, like my grpahics card can't handle the engine. Also updated to latest version. Turning the animation engine off and all is well. So i cannot use animation engine

Same video noise here. Mac OSX 10.7.4. ATI HD 5770. Support said to update graphics card drivers, but I'm running the latest OS which the only way to get card updates that I'm aware of. Might have to take them up on the 14 day guarantee.

I just downloaded and installed element, but I've encountered a few problems. First, if i try and enable the animation engine, the plug in crashes. Also, when I create a particle system and turn on multi object, manipulating any of the settings does nothing. Scatter, Displace, and Rotation values all do nothing in the multi object mode. My biggest problem is the animation engine, because turning it on slows down my computer for about a minute, then the plugin crashes and turns into a totally unusable pile of video noise. I would really appreciate some trouble shooting here, as a reboot of both the computer and after affects accomplishes nothing.

just a little spelling error, in the https://www.videocopilot.net/products/element/ page, at the end in the 3D questions section in the second question it says: "differnce", BTW awesome product as some people said before it's a game changer in compositing inside AE. i'm a guy who knows nothing about using a 3D program like C4D o 3Dmax, but i found your plugin so intuitive and easy to use, keep going VC team

I have a Quadro 4000 installed along Nvidia Geforce GT 120. Element seems to be using the 120 because it's listed in the upper left of the Element interface. Is there a way to tell it to use the Quadro?

glitch sighted - i create an object in the scene setup (in this case, a liquid preset from motion design, with Glass_cracks texture from pro shaders, with default (blurred)environment). i click "ok"... and in my comp appears an untextured, default wifi_logo...

any help would be appreciated!

If you port this plugin to Adobe Photoshop I'm guessing it might sell even better, think about army of 3D typo junkies (like myself), most people won't even need 3D package anymore.

Great work on the plugin. Purchased the entire set. Messing around right now... Is there any easy way to generate shadows?? I did a text animation scattered to normal and want to have shadows on the 3d floor.

Would i copy the entire layer. And then adjust orientation and color to make them look like shadows in the new layer??

What would you do??

Yeah Me.. it worked!!!! Although I couldn't get the proper key-stoning distortion on the shadow. If there is an easier way I'd love to know

There is a way, the plug-in come with some basic model under ?Primitives? you can choose a plane, apply ?Matte_Shadow Material?(again come with the plug-in) to it, and assign it to an empty group along with the model you want to have the ?drop shadow?. Now you can use it as a invisible plane that will have shadow of the model, besure you enable Ambient Occlusion.
Now that?s not real cast shadow, it is only Ambient Occlusion shadow, but it?s useful regardless Hope it helps

Bought the Motion Graphics collection several hours ago - everything installed fine, although I had to install the motion graphics models a couple of times for them to show up in Element. Otherwise, very smooth. Running it in CS6 and it's pretty fast considering what it's doing. I've managed to extrude some text, shatter some of the pre-shattered models, and am starting to play with texture maps. Oh...it's after midnight. Guess I'll start up in the morning.

I'm on the fence to purchase this item, not because I have any doubts but because I am afraid of what the license authorization does and if it will destroy my after effects like a previous customer stated. How and what does this authenticate?

hmm, im not sure if this is a problem, but when i load the scene setup (all good here), the object (textured) displayed looks better than the one i get after closing the setup. things like - its glossier/shiner in the setup.

dont know if it helps much, but heres a screenshot of the comparison:

Andrew, I have to say, I purchased your full Element 3D bundle right when you went live. I was able to download all packs and install on my iMac with very little issues. The only snag I ran into was trying to license my plug-in. After a few attempts with the auto register button with time out issues, I was about to try a manual install. At that point I remembered I was behind my company firewall. I then reconfigured my iMac as a quest user outside our firewall and bingo that fixed my auto register snag. So from purchasing the bundle, downloading, installing all packs and figuring out the register snag. I'd say the entire process took me about 35 minutes total. Hats off to you and your team! Thank you very much to you and your entire team! You guys rock.

Hey Andrew! Great plugin I have been playing with it non stop since the second you released it. But now every time I open a file that I saved with Element After Effects crashes upon loading the scene....

Whhhuuuuuuutttt do you suggest is the problem?!

I have a Macbook Pro 2.2 Ghz Intel Core i7 with 8 GB Memory and a AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB

Pleeeease respond if you could as this plugin was bought for a clients project that is do fairly soon

i opend AE with CAPS LOCK, then deleted E-3D from the layer and started from there...

(be shure not to forget the CAPS LOCK )

AE crashes when applying Element to a solid? My card is an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT. I've updated the driver and still crashes. I really want to use this product, it looks AWESOME!

AMD 6750M is on the list of cards under "pretty good!" support, and the specs say "AMD HD Series for Mac."
Have the same model & hoping it's good...Haven't been able to download yet though.

Man, AK, you got back to this guy today? The companies I worked for would have sent an automated response back to him saying, "3 to 5 day response time" and then 3 weeks later they would have sent a e-mail telling him that he needs to reinstall the plugin before contacting tech support again. @Daluz no man i got the whole bundle and am looking stupid right now as far animating a model inside after effects. no tutorial on how to start from scratch,like after creating a comp then do you add a sold as a BG OR IMPORT ABG image then create a camers but if you select the 3dbox the animation model become 2D and stuff like that. i need to lay down and breath.

Indeed it does, dude. When you apply the plugin, click on Scene Setup. Near the top of the Element Interface there is a "Help & Tips" button (to the left of the OK and cancel buttons). This will take you directly to the VCP page with the stuff you're after.

Heya, I promise I'm not a grammar stickler (hey, I found a typo on my website too recently. It's been up for a year now...)

I just happened to chance seeing it while buying the bundle...

"DOES ELEMENT USE THE RAYTRACE RENDERER FROM AE CS6?
Nope. Element uses a custom built Open GL render engine that does not require AE CS6, in fact we even support After Effects CS3+.

Our render system is not related to the Open GL mode found insdie the comp window. In fact we reccomend you set this to Adaptive."

Pretty fantastic plugin so far. It's pretty much opening up a whole new world of options in terms of quick, dirty, and efficient compositing for me right now. I only have one potentially serious issue with element 3d. Is there anyway to use alpha transparencies? I wasn't able to find any option to do so. It would be hugely useful to have this feature implemented.

I just wanted to say thank you to all of the folks at VCP. I've spent the last half hour simply looking through random shapes in the Motion Design pack, and also in the Starter Pack. Pretty soon I'll start flying a camera around, and I can't wait to do that.

The download was absolutely quick and easy, the install was very fast and painless (nice work on the installer by the way), and it took no time at all to get the plugin up and running.

Element is absolutely amazing. For so long we've dreamed of this sort of 3D functionality within the AE environment, and finally we're on our way. Thanks guys! Sincerely. This is awesome!

First of all, AWESOME Plugin!!! I love it

However I'm having a bit of trouble with the animation engine. I can only animate one object (like the broken floor example). When I try to animate between two objects with different textures (like the black and orange cubes example) everything disappears and freezes. Any help?

This is crazy. Just bought the entire line up. Considering the size of each file the download was pretty fast but the best was in easy installer. And then I dove in...and it is better than advertised. I just rendered out 15 second 720p video in about one minute or so...it would have taken me hours in 3ds max. Amazing job VC team. Stunning.

You can import them as JPG or PNG files or load a video into AE and use as a custom map. Equirectangular... whens I say this no one knows what I'm talking about.

I can't wait to buy this... it seems like a lot of computers with low graphics cards are crashing. I have one of the low ones and plan on upgrading asap, but it seems like my Macbook pro's graphics card can not be upgraded. My mac is a late 2008 model, does anyone know if its possible to upgrade its graphics card (GeForce 8600M GT)???????

Anything is possible with the right sized hammer.

I hope you can upgrade though, dude. I've got a 550ti in my workstation, and although Element runs pretty well with it (rendering with Motion Blur and Depth of Field both on doesn't take a long time at all), you definitely get the impression that if you had some more grunt on the card the plugin would literally sing for you, so it looks like I'll be going to a GTX670 in the next month or so.

Think, I got the same mystery inside my MacBookPro 4.1 with that GeForce 8600M GT card. Still running 10.5.8 (Leopard) and AE CS4 on that and erverythink runs quite well and do not have the eggs to update.

Heard that the grafics driver will be updated when you install snow leopard, but dont know if it is correct and finally enough to run element.

Does someone got the same card and a running element???

I made an update to snow Leopard (don?t know if I had to) and had successfully installed the plug-in.

It works and renders and do the job.

My first impressions are "Fast & Zippy" & "Taste Great/Less Filling"

What I like most is that this software was written by people that actually use AE for a living.

Adobe should be taking notes and should re-think about their latest ray-tracing offering.

Great job on Element 3D but have only one question for now. As I import models from C4D, I notice that the textures do not follow along. Am I missing something?

No texture paths yet but we hope to do this in the future. You can however drag and drop maps into the texture slots for each material. Be sure to turn on the melange library in your file preference inside C4D before saving files to be used in Element. You only have to turn it on once.

Ok,downloaded everything the whole bundle, no problem, updated my nvidia gtx460, everything runing smooth as a baby bottom. tutorials not included i assume, as well the black hawk model and that sweet looking f-15 tomcat jet fighter. now lets see what can you do to get me those 2 .other than that,future pack must be military vehicles so we can make big budget movies and send mr BAY HOME.

I have the same card and same issue. Upgrade the driver directly at the ATI website and it should resolve the issue. Fixed mine.

Ok it works a heap better now. Things like the bump map seem to crash ae but I have successfully created a 3d earth with a clouds layer and it has been so extremely easy to do. Fantastic plugin.

Hey Andrew...I bought the whole suite from Toolfarm.com ... but they have not yet sent me the download link.
They say that there are some troubles with the fulfillment server Video Copilot has set up for them.
Is this true? Or I have to get angry and ask for a refund?? I'm trembling!

Like the other plugins, I can stick this on two machines right? I need both for work, but they are both mine.

Andrew, can you add images to 3d objects?

Like say a 3d box/cube? Like an image each side? Or like a 'plane' an image on either side so I can rotate it and reveal 2 seperate images?

I've already purchased so would love to know.

I want to add my own logo as such ok the poker table. How is this done? (without tracking it)

I'm curious if this would work with the Newton: plugin for After Effects. It is a physics simulator that simulates layers in 2d space. It could really create some amazing results with the 3d models being animated.

Just bought the plugin and have been playing around a bit, pretty amazing stuff!

Andrew, last year you made an inside look video where you were able to distort the model with a "Model Noise" drop down... is this in version 1, and I'm just missing it, or is it a version 2 thing?
It would be helpful to have model distortion with liquid objects!

He stated in a previous blog that the noise distort feature had to be removed and hoped it would be added back in a later release. Or that was what I got from the post.

Andrew - looks awesome, and really simple to use. The animation engine is amazing, getting those sorts of results with just the two keyframes is simply outstanding! Really great work, cannot wait to use this in some (all!) of my pieces.

Quick question - does the animation engine work with extruded text? i.e If I have group one saying 'Video Copilot', and another group which says 'Rules' - can the animation engine interpolate between the two as it does do with actual 3D models?

Thanks again for the hard work done by you and your team - I bet Adobe are kicking themselves for not trying to bring something as revolutionary to CS6 themselves!

Sadly, i adddded the Pro 3D Bundle to cart but it reject my VISA card every time i click Order. maybe not all countries are supported, though i could find it from list, i thought the problem is with my card but i did test and bought from Amazon and worked, but didn't work here.

Been reading the manual, but I don't see a possible way for bringing in textures that have alpha?

Amazed at the speed I am getting with the models, and I was wondering at any point will it be possible to use an AE export from c4d to link it to your model in AE using elements? so having solids mounted to the right spots on the model?

When I set the quality to "Full" everything disappears, but I can view the models in comp no problem if I set quality to Half or below. Did I miss something?

Hey Andrew. I figured out what the problem is - though I haven't found a solution yet.

Info from AE Preview Settings --
Fast Draft: Available
Texture Memory: 200.00 MB
Ray-tracing: CPU
(GPU not available - incompatible device or CUDA driver) - OpenGL
Device: ATI Radeon HD 4670 OpenGL Engine
Version: 2.1 ATI-7.18.18
Total Memory: 256.00 MB

So GPU is unavailable. Unfortunately, I have absolutely NO idea how to update this. I went to the AMD website and there's tons of things for Windows or Linux, but absolutely nothing I could find for Mac. Which, sucks. So, my solution is to attempt crowd-sourcing for a new Mac Pro. Hopefully it works. (heh)

Though, if anyone else has a more practical solution, please do share!

Oh I see - changing the comp settings to "OpenGL Always On" fixes this, so that the geometry shows up at "Full."

Installed the full Studio suite, excellent.

After Affects CS6 kept crashing every time I double clicked on an element.

With 4 physical Duo Quad Cores and 24 GB's Ram, I was a bit worried.

Updated the Graphics card drivers, running smooth.

Well I also updated my NvidiaFX5500 drivers yesterday and the plug won't load just hangs there thinking! Then crashes if I click on the screen.... CS5.5 Boxx 8400 Quad core

Think you can get 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator 3D mouse to talk to Adobe After Effects since they allowed it to work with 3D Max and Adobe Photoshop? See link below... A mouse that moves all objects in 3D by tilting.. many people are waiting for this mouse to work with AE?

So i played with it for a while just to get a touch and must say that this is the most powerfull plugin i have ever seen and probably my smartest and best spend 500 dollars ever ! it acts like full breed 3d programme only in after FX.. i don´t think i have to explain what it means to After FX community.. we all know that !!

Not directly. You have to copy and paste them onto a solid as a mask and then it should work.

waited...downloaded...installed...crashed...tried again...it worked fine!

Using a MacBook Pro early 2011 (AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB) with CS6 AE. Just been playing with the inbuilt primitives and rendering test movies... this thing is FAST!

Installed...the licensing process killed CS5.5 for me. CS6 launched with no issues...was getting crashes, but now it appears to be stable. Looking good. Really good. Can't wait to do some renders tomorrow.

Crashed AE on my MacBook Pro

Thanks Andrew. A refund would be a last ditch scenario. Been looking forward to this plugin for a long time, and I knew it would have issues. Hopefully I can get my system built quickly and get her going. I think you mentioned the GTX 570 would be a good option.

I can use the scene setup just fine. At the very least I can go through and familiarize myself with the interface. Thanks!

Hey, will Element (if not now, perhaps one day) include a feature to effectivly grow, or mask, like a flourish, the 3D particles? I think it would come in super handy. even like transition effect such as "radial, linea, spherical... and a feather to it, so when it grows, it actually animates the thickness or size prgressively. Just thinking in terms of making flourishes, and animate arrows and liquid. Not sure if this function is possible with this engine.

Yes, I am definitely going to have to get a new comp and start taking after effects more seriously. I have CS5 and I am in chapter 4 of a book, but I focused on video for the last year, so, AE took a backseat. But from the first few things that I have seen from people using Element 3D I broke out the book again and I am going to put the camera down for a while and spend my free time learning AE. Thank you for showing us your work. All the free blender models will disappear off the net in 3 days, lol.
