I'm brewing up a new motion graphics tutorial that features a super-zoom from the inside of this galaxy ball left over from the movie Men in Black or somewhere. It's got some interesting tips for creating energy unlike anything we have done before, plus all effects done inside of After Effects. Stay tuned!

Dude as always, awesome work. A while back I was tired of looking for starfields for my planet backgrounds and was thinking it would be cool to use the actual celestial sphere as an environment. Well, it exists, and in h-res, and it's here:

Hi, andrew. I suggest that you should start a competition between videocopilot viewers. I've seen a lot of videos that was similar(very similar) to yours and i hate it because they were not original(yours is). I think it's going bad this time since they lost the creativity and all they do is depend on your ideas.

I'm currently working on a flying through space project and this tut will totally help me fill in some gaps. You're THE MAN... as well as some sort of cosmic mind reader cuz i literally told my friend that "I wish Andrew Kramer would have a tut on flying out of a galaxy or something, cuz i need some inspiration and lil technical help." Listen, I have thought up other way for a logo of the Tron. We can make each letter in a separated layers with 3D Invigorator plug-in... Each letter will become in 3D... And Then we mix it by the same. Also we add a glow...

Looking forward to this one, my next project is creating an emerging Galaxy (Big Bang type thing) I may use this instead for the opening prologue of a stage musical.... Can't wait!! Use the Force Kramer!!

try making the logo with paths_you could do this with the pen tool. then apply trapcode 'Stroke' plugin. i think there's a
property that allows you could achieve the affect.

if you guys can't wait for the Tron tut here's one simply way you could do it:
> create the Tron logo in Adobe Illustrator_ you'll have put each letter on a separate layer;
> import the graphic into AE and make each letter 3D layers;
> add a camera and animate each letter in Z space and mess around with the rotation properties;
> colorize your font if you like with AE's 'Fill' filter;
> add some glows on the logo and some Video Copilot lens flares in the background;
> turn on your motion blur button for each letter so you get some blur as your logo flies into frame.
> place an adjustment layer to the top of your comp and add a 'spherize' distortion filter. this will give you the cool warpy look as the logo exits the frame.
That's it. Ofcourse if you want some thickness to your logo
you could always duplicate a few times and lower the opacity.

For those of you who are curious about how he did this:
CC particle world with a negative velocity, line particles, possibly multiple particle systems, some fractal noise and a CC sphere combined with some turbulent distortion as well as more particle systems and fractal noise behind the sphere, probably quite a bit of tint and curves for colorizing and a some glow shaders, most likely stacked to create the strong smooth energy feel.
The first part seems to have one large fractal field with an animated scale property and a CC particle world on top and then a CC sphere or CC circle on top of that for the bright white glow in the middle.

Nice, graphics look really nice as usual!
Just the sound-design seem a bit too heavy and timed off for the visuals in my opinion...
But i think galaxy studio's in belgium would love your logo reveal
(maybe you can have Darcy Proper do some mastering... wouldnt that be sweet)

@ Andrew - What ever happened to quicktips? I loved those, short sweet, and didn't take a ton of time to watch... as I get busier and busier, I love seeing helpful and creative videos, but short enough I can squeeze in when I have a few minutes of down time...

hey andrew im a big fan and im just curious i watched this over and over again so amazed but i remembered some other things you thought me and is those light streaks just kind of like the sparks in tutorial 65 or 66 i think but in revers instead of going out it goes into the middle and the gasses are just new layers that you put as red and black like in your tutorial on that globe where you made that smokey lookk
and you added some things from optical flares and that orb is just like the glass oorb tutorial sorry if its the comments long and is the the blue and red things just outside the orb like the light thing in the earth tutorial but instead u mask it out and that part that kind of circles the orb is like the planet explosion but you mask it out to give it that effect omg this comments really long please reply if im right in some of these im just wondering since i watched all of your videos and you always say that puting some of the videos together would be a good idea oh and can i ask what uni or college i can go to for video editor i know i kind of have a long way till i go to university since im only 13 :/ but still i would like to know what would be the best to go to like where you went again im so sorry for the long comment i hope you agree to post it in the comments box and can i ask what if my computer has a problem and everything gets wiped out and i bought one of your products well my parents for and i downloaded it instead of the dvd can i re download it or do i have to buy it again since i always have problems with my computer thanks andrew big fan and a late Happy New Year

Andrew i am always amazed at how your colors pop out, when i try it to do anything my colors remain dull even in my photo-shop work. I am not sure how i can improve.. any advice?

Ya ya, I use a lot of orbs in tutorials! I like them. But it's more of an icon, it could be a 3D letter in a logo or an eyeball that we zoom out of. I just make things shiny but the principles and techniques are far reaching. In a Galaxy far far away.

Let me guess, smoky texture (possibly fractal noise) coupled with cc sphere effect, overlayed a couple of times with different evolution settings (to create the reflection). Then you did a couple particular effects, w/ motion blur, zoomed the camera in, keyframed to zoom out. You added Optical Flares along for the ride, some generic smoky textures (for the energy inside), and bam. There you have it. Energy; Orb.

Do you think that at some time in the future you could expand on this universe effect and make a TUT that shows us how to create space scenes along the lines of what we see in sci-fi movies like star trek and aliens? planets atmospheres nebulas etc? anything like that would be greatly appreciated.

I think create from particular + CC lens+ CC sphere+fast blur to created orb maybe have a fractal noise and opticalflare behind
