I think it is not necessary to display the "popular tutorials!" because ther is no tutorial which is not popular^^

Hi Andrew.
What is the substance on your blue background? Is it smashed crystals? Can I ask where you got the image...? :O It's so nice!

Beautiful layout, it makes it easy for frequent visitors to find new tutorials quickly and easily, but with them listed below, it's very accessible! Well done, very nice improvement to an already easily functional design.

What would be cool Andrew, is when you hover over the thumbnail with your mouse, it shows a sneak preview to what the user will be creating.

Fantastic addition to the site. Andrew Kramer has enlightened me on the use of after effects and how it can be used in feature films and my movie projects. No one has helped an after effects user more. Real world tutorials and the best you can deliver.
Thank You
Thank You
Nice one andrew !
Could you maybe change the whole site to the nice bluey-black, the white hurts my eyes....especially at 3 in the morning !!!

Very nice! Few comments:
1) Sitemap on google for tutorials links to A tutorial now, not the tutorial page. Some Pledge action (http://www.pledge.com/) might be needed on that map to keep it healthy & shiny.
2) View all tutorials link would also be nice for visitors. My first reaction before scrolling below the fold was that you got rid of the other tutorials. I thought maybe once you've shown people how to pull the skin up around their eye (http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials.html?id=92), you know, it just makes the other tutorials look weak.
View all might be nice floated right from the label on each section?
3) A two-colum layout might increase sales. 1 column (2/3rds of the page) for tutorials, 1/3rd (1 column) shows products...they're pretty easy to overlook right now.
That said, it's still a great page as is.

@ Andrew Kramer:
Well, if that was the intention of the update, then it was solved very good.
I still don't like the dark vs. bright colors, though. The new part doesn't really fit into the website, because of the different color scheme. But if the whole new homepage will have this dark design... O, it will be soo cooool!
Anyways, it's the content that matters. I wish you and the Video Copilot team every success! Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the comments.
The intention of this update is pretty simple... to captivate new visitors who may not know about the content in our older tutorials. We have a lot of cool stuff, but it gets buried in time. At a glance visitors can see several of the most popular tutorials in an instant.
The "popular tutorials" script, analyzes the top 20 most viewed tutorials and randomly displays the image. Giving a new visitor a vivid look at our popular content.
We are still working on the new homepage but the tutorial page is the most viewed page by far and so we want to get that out right away.

Looks cool. But I think the new design doesn't work with the old one (all the dark colors). I don't think, that the new layout displays the content more effectively. A better preview of new tutorials would be good at the main page (aka index.html) but not in the tutorials section, where the new tutorials were already displayed at the top of the page. And the "Popular Tutorials" are in fact just random tutorials, because they change randomly every time I reload the page.
As I said it looks cool, but I think the new layout doesn't turn out well (in the matter of web design, usability etc.). The only thing that is actually changed is the size of the thumbnails, which I think is not necessary. Now I have to scroll down to see what I want.
But this is just my opinion...

Hmmm... I have the latest version of Firefox, and, like Jacob said, it looks like all the formatting has been lost somewhere. (IE: http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n313/stevenbills/videocopilotmessedup.jpg )
Hope that helps.

Woah, this is completely stuffed in Safari! Firefox shows it fine, but in safari its like all the formatting was stripped.

Great stuff Andrew. It never ceases to amaze me how much professional effort you put into free content, in addition to running a business, a family and coming up with random humour ;P.

Hey nice layout!.....
Not sure if this topic has been dealt with alreadyâ???¦..how would one import .mv2 files into AE? or do you recommend quicktime conversion within a non-linear edit package first? (Iâ??????m thinking about importing bluescreen footage directly from a firestore, without loss in quality)
