Intercept update and a Look Ahead!

As I started worktoday I was overcome with a feeling of positive energy that real progress was underway.I got a chance to see major updatesonsomenewplug-ins we're developing and one high-flyingmodel pack. Plus this week I had achance to shoota new Blog Show and make some big progress on my short film Intercept!

I know there have been some bumps in the road this past year but I finally feel likeI'm back into a solid balance with life and work and family! The spinning wheels are finally gaining tracking and we're moving forward again!

The above video is a small taste of some of the VFX we're doingfor Intercept and yes the car crashes are rendered in Element 3D!! I don't quite have a release date for the film but I have a target in mind and I'm working towards that goal.

With the new Saber plug-in and Star Pack I'm getting better at balancingthe amount of work it realistically takes to create high quality stuff asmy expectations have gone up (Especially after working on Star Wars!) and I know the community wants to see more in depth and high quality tutorials and that is what we are going to focus on this year!

Intercept has happen to INTERCEPT or interstellar happen to INTERCEPT (Stuck in Other dimension when they went through the blackhole- thats why their delay is taking years in our Earth.

By all means I am a newbie and a rookie to E3D, but I love it. Here is a small exercise I cooked up. Mind, I know nothing about camera work in AE, nothing about lighting in AE, nothing about color correcting a scene or LUTs. I built all these 3D models in E3D and used the VC Motion pack for some sound FX. My biggest problem, I want to get better FASTER DANG IT. Great stuff from VC. Thanks.

FAT Formatted HD's are restricted to a maximum of only 2GB transfers, if you reformat the drive the FAT 32 or something else it should be fine

When you want servo sounds hosted within element perfectly aligned (pitch-wise) to varying degrees of changes in rates of acceleration and decceleration when linked to any relative property of rotation...then from now until then, I'll be working on this. this is the best i've been able to do with element and my 2010 computer u_u, you should make a breakdown for this, I've seen sparks that I suppose are stock footage, but the cameras and the render settings, the riging, and the crash, I'd love to understand how to do this

Andrew, the Intercept crash scene is extremely impressive! I'm hoping for new "Vehicle" and "Helicopter" 3D Packs from Video Copilot. Possible vehicles: patrol car, SWAT van, sedan, armored car, delivery truck, semi tractor and trailer. Helicopters: UH-60 Black Hawk, AH-64 Apache, CH-47 Chinook and UH-1 Iroquois.

I just had to, sorry. Anyways, this probably wouldn't work due to Element 3D using its own render engine, along with the lights and everything being linked to after effects, incorporating third-party render systems wouldn't be very easy. As cool as it'd be, it's probably not going to happen, unfortunately.

Hopefully there's a tutorial on that and a VFX pipeline for Super Indie productions

Also, could you do a JetStrike tutorial in the future on how to have a jet flying through aerial over a long distance with accurate speed? I cannot figure it out. I've been trying for awhile now.

Idea for upgrate to element V2 (or 3 ) Make physics and preview window something like Particular or VC lensflares. It will be a huge F**k yeah awsome feature to this plugin, if we can place forces to move object, like gravity and wind for realistic twister effect, or crashing somthing. Like the police car in your insideshot from intercept. It will be great if element 3d can do all of this. Placing plane (like matte shadow) just this called (hidden ground object) or using another model body to distore models like crashing.

Like a few people, I was getting a little impatient with regard to Intercept... I love the work that AK does and REALLY appreciate what he's done for HIS community, but at the same time, I'm like 'come on, bro! Let's just have the film already!'

But when I see the quality of the VFX here, it's clear that AK has Levelled UP big time! In that spirit, I'd just like AK to know that it's all good - take your time, dude! The better you get, the better WE get! #LevelUp!

I hope the "new plugins" are something fresh and NO !, a simple upgrade ELEMENT!
We need a particle plugins "new and innovative" designed from the personal perspective! to create shots fluid, smoke, etc. and engage the element! this kind of effects needed to avoid the tedious and modeling programs SEQUENCES objects!
It is my humble opinion!

I am glad you have found that balance to realistically juggle work and family life. I agree with what you said about taking too much on, its something that is very easily done and once that ball starts rolling its hard to get things back on track and at a manageable pace.
I am over the moon that you have some special things lined up for us this year. I am very eager indeed to learn some awesome new techniques to improve my VFX development.

Well, I think the footage was actually filmed using a car mounted camera, but the car crash was rendered (don't know if animated too) in Element 3D.

Please tell me that that physic simulation was done inside of Element or with a Element compatible plugin.
That would be exactly what I need for my current production!
It would be a dream come true to do physic simulations inside of After Effects.

I'm guessing it was hand animated, since the shots were short enough that it wouldn't be to difficult.

He could have simulated it in his 3d program then exported an obj sequence. If he used Cinema 4d, he may have used Cinema 4d dynamics, then bake out the animation, and import it into Element.

You can make 2D physics simulation using the plugin "Newton 2" from motionboutique.
with "Element 3D" you can either
- Create group null for the object and parent it to the animated layer.
- Link position/rotation parameters to the animated keyframed layers (can use expressions).

Was the car flip hand keyed, did you use reaktor or Rayfire or did you use a simulation like newton since element doesn't do physics sims? It's very natural.
