Make a Movie with Jean-Claude Van Damme & VFX!

Strap in! The team at Funny or Die has put together a new video & a contest that is perfect for VFX and they even let me do a little cameo! Oh and it's starring this one guy named JEAN-CLAUDE VAN DAMME!

How it works:
Watch the video. Then youshoot a video and add in some pre-keyed shots of Van Damme taking names, then whoever makes the best films wins some gear! Short deadline though, only 2-weeks, good thing they are pre-keyed!

Check out the video and see what Jean-Claude Van Damme has to say about it!

I would still like to have the download of the jcvd make my video green screens I know it's over but I wanted to try it out see what I can do with one of my favorite action stars is there any possibility that I can get it? I would really appreciate it alot! My daughter would go nuts.....lol

youtube, worth over 1 billion dollars and is no more then two years old.
Don't know about this way as is a secret but it's simple and easiest.

Hi Andrew, the FOD site says the competition is closed and so can't download the footage anymore! I'm from UK so couldn't enter anyway, but having a chance to get hold of JCVD footage to play with seems too good to pass up. Do you know a way I could get a copy? I have Dropbox if it helps?

We tried to use the clips in a unique way with a full storyline and even a twist at the end, but FOD bombed it pretty hard, guess it was not funny enough. At least we were happy with how it turned out.

Nice. I like all the camera tracking, really helps sell the shots. I love the twist! Most people's attention span is like 30 seconds, so I wouldn't be surprised if most did not make it til the end. At the end of the day, you have something great that your family was a part of to show off, and its better then just having a photo. When people I haven't seen in years ask me about my kids, I show them my video.

great looking composites! I ended up having too many shots to fine tune each one, so I has some sloppy scenes. When I saw the winners, I was disappointed, but seeing all the videos that didn't make the cut are inspiring. As in, oh, this other talented person didn't get recognized either. I'm not the only one!

I agree with Andrew. Why do you need a contest to make a movie? We as a community need to start pushing boundaries and not rely SOLEY on Andrew a VCP to hold someones hand. BRIAN you don't need Andrew for that. You mentioned all the key components on how it's done. Use the fume and motion tracking tutorials do some googling and make it happen! You can do it!!

U need to preview them with Quicktime. If u using VLC player it will show only first couple of seconds. Just try open with Quicktime. Hope this helps.

I am also not living in the U.S. but would like to make funny videos with this footage.
When I read in the Terms it is not allowed, right? --> "Sponsor grants entrants in the Challenge a non-exclusive license to use the Footage solely in and in connection with the Challenge and subject to the terms set forth herein"

The idea is great.
However, I was a little bit disapointed by the editing. All shots are already edited.
"make your vandamme movie, but make it like Freddie Wong does." And we don't have really others choices... (I just speak about the editing)
Cool idea... But, yeah... With more differents shots of each situation (not pre-keyed, not edited), it would be really awesome.

That's not what i said. If you want to use this pack to create something fully original, for example, a Jean-Claude Vandamme movie but in the old classic style, with a very special edit (which would be fun): you can't ! Because someone has already edited the clips for you. That's all. I didn't say the idea was bad. I just expected more freedom.

I was so geeked out when I saw your cameo. I heard about this from FoD's website and started watching the promo, I just said, wow, their backgrounds look good. With that cool tone to it, it looks just like Andrew Kramer's style, then I was like, oh, there he is. I know it is only US because lawyers ruin everything. Interestingly, I read through the rules, second place has a higher cash value then first. I kind hope I win second so I can get CC... for a year anyways

Download the files, create the video and share it with people. If you want a competition, join with some other people that are not in the U.S. and organize your own contest.

Thanks for all you do, Andrew. People, the idea here is for YOU to take the ball and run with it. No matter where you are in the world, if you want to be like Andrew, then step out of your own comfort zone and do your own VFX. Get freelance work or apply to a company. Come up with your own ideas and expand your knowledge. Andrew got noticed because he taught himself and he is disciplined. There is nothing stopping any of you from excelling at what you love if you continue to work to get better. The "prizes" will come eventually. God bless you all. I love this site!
