Future City Submissions!

August 28th, 2013

After some slight delays, we are now accepting submissions for the communityFuture City Pack. We've already created a few buildings to include in the pack and we will collecting the best ones for this FREE model pack!

Submissions will END in 2 weeks on Sept 15Th at which point we will organize and optimize the collection assuming we get enough good submissions.

Please give us a few weeks to go through the various file formats and texture to make the pack easy to use.We promise to release it as soon as we can!

When will these be out? the submissions were due over a month ago and he said to allow for a few weeks which it has been more than that. I understand that they have been busy with jet strike but i am really looking forward to this.

I wish I knew enough 3D know-how to contribute... but to everyone who is contributing, please make various city set objects like flying cars (police cars too?), bus stations, monorails, highways, etc so they can be inserted into city scenes. Basically anything you'd need to make an indie film look like a big budget film. I can't wait to see the results of what people create. Thanks!

You could probably still submit since they're still compiling and proofreading the other entries. Definitely worth a shot since I know they've been pushing for a lot of quality submissions (hence the initial deadline extension)

Wow, looking forward to see the full package ... Watched the Trailer of Star Trek - Into Darkness again yesterday and remembered the awesome moment in cinema i saw the end titles. When does the in-depth behind the secenes will be released ? I'm so curious about it.

Andrew just wondering, so E3D is like a game engine (sorry if I'm wrong) so just wondering if game engines like cryengine are able to do real time reflection and tessellation, would E3D ever going to be able to do things like that? maybe version 3 or something?

Are textures required? Will we need to create our own or can we use textures from other sources?

Hi, you need to add textures when uploading your model and you have to make sure they are correctly UV mapped. There are some websites that offer royalty free textures for free like http://www.cgtextures.com/

Hi, I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't be able to use this without the metropolitan pack. I can try to make some kind of bridge, maybe it will end up in the pack for you to use.

No you cant use it, because all 3-D Buildingsmodels are only in combination with the metropolitan pack useable. it is the same as the sports pack. you can only use 3-D Sports models, if you had andrews sports pack! etc.
To Andrew: What about same % for my next VC Buy?

Guys you DO NOT need metropolitan in order to use the Futuristic Community Pack. All these packs are simply a collection of different 3D Models. That's like asking if you can use a model you downloaded off of turbosquid just because you do not own another model that is avaiable on the site.

Hey Kramer! I'm sure you guys have considered this already, but what would you say to the idea of Metro 2 having random trees/parks? Aerial shots don't look convincing enough for me without that detail.

Hard to comment this cuz it doesn't make any sense.
Don't wanna hurt ur feelings but no CGI, no clouds, no smooth animation, no 'story', and the music is terrible for this animation.
Dont want to be Simon Cowell but you get the picture..

Anyway keep up and you'll find a way.

Good Work! Nice OF, Cameramove an Helimodel i think. The streets are a little bit emty at 11 sec ,but i think its andrews blame. We need a vehicle and a Human Pack all ready for animate in E3D V2

hey nice work fast paced but yeah no natural elements, u should checkout tree[d] i use it for my trees all the time i have speed tree but tree[d] is so damn quik and easy btw its free just google it if u wana make quick trees,bush,weeds etc good luck with future projects

3D Max Render Time: 60 hrs! Wow, you have patience. I would have died of boredom. BTW nice effects! The best was the scene where everything is reflected in the eye. Really impressive. 10/10.

Hey Andrew and team, just a heads up. You need to make sure the models you receive are original works. I am not sure how you do that. The community here is pretty cool but you have to watch yourself. The reason I am writing this is because samsung already got stung TWICE with their "submit a photo from your samsung phone" competition and one guy who's picture was stolen was a fellow Indonesian brother.

Great initiative though and very inspirational. Thanks for everything.
