Holy Monday batman! I decided to release the Tron-Pilot Project file created in After Effects with a short video walk-through. I talk about creating the 3D text and building a few expressions. It doesn't demonstrate every little detail but it should be enough to help you through the project file. For the background blur, try using a photo of a city with the After Effects lens blur.

P.S. Does anyone know what I can do to put the FX on the new Comp 2 after Putting in all the letters? They're all there...and all white. But when I add the tint and glow FX...nothing happens. Has anyone had the same problem?

Hi the tutorial doesn't seem to work. It opens and nothing shows up in the preview part. I don't have optical flares but even removing that doesn't help. Thanks.

I definetley enjoyed this "tutorial" even though i'm curious about the look of the real text. Andrew somehow worked with masks and alot of vegas+glow effects. I can't figure out how to change the "video copilot" to my own text since i don't understand what the masks are for.

The sounds used in this one reminded me of X-Men or something like that. Would maybe have been cooler with those hornes blowing (From the soundtrack) but I'm guessing this was made for copyright reasons.

Hey Andrew, for those of us who really sit through the entire tuts we thank you for your attention to DETAILS and for those who pillage the project files they will undoubtedly will be in the ones sending questions instead of comments LMAO ! Andrew I've just started learning nuke, and I realise that you concentrate on motion graphics as opposed to compositing; but seriously, I suggest you pick up a node based program and show us some proper compositing. I mean AE can do it, but it just doesn't compare to the likes of Foundry Nuke. Just a suggestion...

I forgot to mention above in the expression that we should set the opacity to Zero and then add the expression, and this expression should be used with the expression you showed in the tron project.

another great one Mr. Kramer, i saw another expression to do the same thing but it was a hell of a book (i mean too many lines), but this one was a tiny cool one, Thank you very much. and i came up with an expression to make the opacity to be decreased as i duplicate it and make a gradual fade out along the axis. Here it is:
value+[index-100]*-1-[index*write any value you want here, this defines the step of opacity differences between two layers]
and if you can enhance it (that you can for sure) please post it so we'll use it.

Vegas! Damn it why didn't i think of vegas. I almost cracked it. i made it 90% similar except for those lines running through the extrusions! i used Trapcode's Form and got 95%similar results but it either had too strong effect or too scarce look. Plus i know u majorly use the built in efects and that why i was banging my head on my table thinking how to do this with built in effects.

Awesome TUT!!! Thankyou VERY MUCH!!! Does anyone here know an AE tutorial for creating the Tron Light Streak effect that emits light ribbons off the bikes on TRON LEGACY? ( I guess Im asking alot huh? LOL!) I watched the VCP tuts on light streaks 1 and 2 here at VCP, but they do not show how to emit these light ribbons off text objects or graphic objects... Great how you've taken inspiration of the Tron intro and did it your own way instead of doing an exact copy like most other examples. Thanks for the Vegas idea too!
I just had the "tutorial" going while I was working and I have to say, if ANYTHING, I'm walking away with the awesomeness of Vegas. That's such a cool plugin that I didn't know existed! I'm pumped to incorporate it into some effects.

pretty basic text extrusion but, as always, just a bit extra with the strokes and dots.

Nice AK! Can't wait to watch this one at home (at work right now lol) Hopefully packed with jokes. When are we looking at the Galaxy warp orb tut? That one looks especially awesome!
I love the new approach to the 3D extrusion. makes it also a bit translucent. I sometimes use the shatter-effect to make Real 3D text, but that was before I got the Zaxwerks 3D Invigorator. Also a pretty sleek plugin.
where is the skript, that multiplies the comps for the other letters?
its not in the download. there is just the Free_Tron.aep.

What I mean here is, e.g. when should I know when to use wiggle, time, and the rest of the other complex stuff, if you know what I mean. If could list a few examples such as e.g again, time; when you are trying to blah blah. Wiggle, when you are trying to blah blah.

I tried to listen to other online tutorials about this and the guys are just lousy, it's like a physics lesson.
