I finally got around to reshooting Sam for the upcoming HUD Tutorial, now that all this Sure Target business is over. I'm polishing out a few details and I'll be releasing the tutorial this week. Get your VCR's ready, it's going to be a good one. If you don't have a VCR, don't worry it's not that good. No wait! It's good.

How about like... "Kermit THE Frog here for another great tutorial" ...??? No? Thats kind of redundant?
I am wondering if Andrew's child is going to end up in this episode.....commander in chief perhaps??? All it will take is a designer to create a small commander in chief outfit.... and then boss Sam around....yep, he'd love that...

@Clancy30,
Hey pal, if you want to do moths around a lightbulb, and happen to have a 3D app (I used Maya for this one, but I'm sure any will work), then model a real basic moth. Render out a loopable video, import it into your comp, then use Particular, assigning the moth layer as the particle and voila! Simple, but nice looking moths.
I'd break it down further, but I've already typed too much on here. Post your question on the forums and I'll get more wordy (or someone will give you a better, easier method).
Back on topic (Sorry Andrew!!), I'm really looking forward to this one. I had made some attempts, but I'm getting a bit confused when I get to the perspective side of the camera animation. Can't wait!

I'm wondering why Sam hasn't been snapped up by "24" casting. His look is prime Bauer World.

I agree with what Whacker Chen said. And I would be confused if you started with something else.
I remember the days before VCR's young man!

I think he will say "Hey what's up! Andrew Kramer here FOR VideoCopilot.net. I'm gonna show you a very exciting video tutorial specially dedicated to my lovely friend Jyses".

Could you say something else at the start of the video instead of "Hey what's up Andrew Kramer here with VideoCopilot.net. Your After Effects Resource..."

I wonder if there is somebody on this planet who made a Sam Loya tattoo on his body?
The only thing that could make Sam more popular is him starring in a B-movie with Chuck Norris.

i hope you tell us the setup of the shot as far the lighting and background and the position of the head if there is tracking. thanks .

The Final Image site has been made private to accommodate our clients. It may emerge later this year...
Thanks to SteveWhitehead for informing me about how the shot was proabably done
But now im really curious about Final Image its self. I'd like to know more but i dont know why Andrew has taken down the site.

Hi Andrew,
You are an awesome guy and I love the way your tutorials because they are free and your product marketing strategy is brilliant! Are you sure you not a marketing whiz kid of some sort?
I was wondering if you would consider breaking up one those HP commercials into small tutorials if not then at least a you could do something in those lines.

It will be a good one, yeah. I am curious on how you??´re going to comp all this, except for that, I have a general idea on how to do it.
Cheers
Morten.

Isn't HUD the abbreviation for "Housing and Urban Development"?..... Maybe that's who built the "box" that Sam's head is in...aha, I knew it....
I can't wait to see the tutorial. I have a music video I am working on (futuristic), and this look is definitely something I would use for it. It reminds me of TRON, etc. Very cool look. I can't wait to see how it is put together.
Thanks Andrew!!!

VERY excited about this!
SureTarget has my life so much easier, cant thank you enough Mr Kramer!
To answer Louisserranos question... this probably isnt the correct answer your looking for, however the shot of Sam above can be easily lit using a few lights. Im at Uni and we use Dedo lights which have a dimmer switch. Simply put you actor in any room, it doesnt have to be a studio, just make sure its not to small, and direct your light onto your actor. Just turn off the artificial lights in your room and you should be able to get the effect of a entirely black background.
I know its not an AK answer but hope this helps.
