Sam's Out-Take

Here is a really great performance by Sam Loya that we decided to cut from the recent tutorial because of time constraints. Also to clarify, nearly all of the video clips used in our tutorials are produced specifically to demonstrate each effect. We want you guys to have access to professional footage whenever possible so when you buy our great products these tutorials will keep getting better :) Hint hint.

I don't know why but I just love watching Sam Loya commit suicide. We need a suicide montage of all the suicide scenes you've done. Or maybe just all the times Sam dies or something. Like a tribute video.

First of all i love your tutorials! it helped me a lot... one this in this sample though.. i think you forgot to animate the Gun Blow back.. he he he but the fx is really kick ass.. you guys at VideoCopilot rocks!

Oh man Andrew. Everybody who works with you commits suicide; first Tino by the road side and now Sam in his car. Is working for you really that bad, or were you just mean to him again. LOL.

Hey, to Universe TK guy/gal up there... saw the youtube vid. A few things:
where did you get your SFX? Distractingly not realistic.

Nice touch on having the smoke coming out of the guy's mouth.

At initial blood spray, left edge of blood element is over top of guy's head, should be behind.

All are quibbles, however, I've not made anything this good yet! ;-D

@ elliot7130: since the muzzle flash is only a slit second long I don't think there is any need to motion track. Just a mask that is applied for a few frames.

Andrew that was cool. Nice job on that. And as mentioned earlier, I love the small detail of the glow in the mouth. Very nicely done. It actually had the feel of light glowing thru the cheek.

And Americas Army ehh? I used to play that a lot. Loved the Bridge map. That was my fav. That and the 203 weapon. That thing used to kick a$$ when the actually gave you more than a few naders to shoot. Never play anymore myself either.

MP5 lol, yeah it was just an out-take and I just through the FX together and some sound. I love the old car sound too

Initially I didn't have blood either, I just cut and you heard the sound but I took it to the next level and after about 10 minutes of compositing with Action Movie Essentials... I think it turned out pretty good. The window is hand tracked... too lazy I guess.

@everyone wanting a tutorial about the simulated light on the cheek of Sam... Just watch tutorial 21, simulated light...

I would say watch all of the tutorials even if you don't intend on using that particular effect... I promise you will gain so much more knowledge and you will begin to see effects on tv or movies and you'll remember specific things in the tutorials that might work for other things...

While on this soapbox I guess I will promote his products.. In all honesty, if youdo not have all of his products then you need to budget for them and for all of the youngsters here... Christmas is coming.

I can testify that Andrew's products not only are top notch.. But they are endlessly interchangeable.. BUY HIS Products...

Its all *your* fault! If you had *listened* to Sam, he would probably still be alive. You should just have... been more sensibel... A bit of respect now and then, a "thank you, sam" here and there... Just a bit of attention to his needs...

All the pressure, you put on him... Always being the one to be blown into bits, getting shot and stuff... MAN, THE SIGNS WERE THERE !!! If you had just put a bit of attention to Sam and *cared* for him just a bit more... This all wouldnt have happened...

This could have been prevented...

ANYWAY....

Great Video, wonderful work on the shot (quite literally ) and a very surprising Ending... to the Video as well as for Sam

That was great, I a a bit of an evil person and i watched that frame by frame, I liked the way you lit up his cheek to show the muzzle flash inside his mouth. Was that a mask trick?

I am assuming that the vehicle sound was added as when he added the gun shot.

I find myself wondering what Sam Loya's voice sounds like... I mean.. I have seen all of Andrew's tutorials (all products included), and yet still, I do not recall ever hearing Sam speak..

wow, awesome, great acting and awesome effects. I didn't know what the hose was at the start, maybe a water hose but then it all made sense, i wasn't supposed to know until the gun comes out, then realizing he was trying to gas himself out, very well projected.

I slowed down the shot and could not help but to notice the nice detail of the muzzle fire inside Sam's mouth. You gave it that glow from the outside as if light was shining through the skin...Very nice touch!

I am hoping the truck Sam was in is a diesel otherwise it sounds like it is time for a tune up!
