no matter how i try it does not look like the one that you did . the lighting the camera every things please man i think this will bee very useful tutorial (( how to make your 3 d pop )) or look great it is not a matter of how you get the 3d model in the after effects it is about the how to make it look nice and cool

I can't get my rose to look like the example! I have the back ground perfect. But there seems to be more shine on the rose. Mine looks pretty fake. Tried some lighting to match the example. Not getting there yet.

Do you think he altered the material a bit?

Try to adjuts your comp lights and maybe adjust the gamma within Element. I too am having some issues blending the roses in with a live scene. Baloons are going in perfect, especially w Depth of field pushed a lot, but the rose is def still to bright and CG. Also try the multi-pass mixer to adjust specifics

Maaan! I am soooo glad that I have Element 3D. I've been thinking about doing some kind of a short Valentines Day video using Element 3D and then I see this free Valentines Day packet.

Andrew you are the man, man???.and continue to be the man. Lol.! There are a lot of things that you provide for free when you don't have to do so. I know that a lot of work and time goes into doing what you do and creating products, even though you have a team of people to help you.

Thanks a lot! Will be working on an animated comp this afternoon as a small surprise for the GF. PERFECT timing, and couldnt be happier Element is a particle engine. Just curious, but has anyone tried using Element based models in Particular as a sprite (by either taking a screenshot or using another methods)?

You can use Element 3D in a precomp and use that precomp as a sprite/textured particle with Particular. No screenshot needed. It won't be real 3D though after its been precomped.

Element is crashing for me since I installed it. When I delete it from the models folder it works again. weird

Make sure you installed the latest version of E3D and if it still acts up, then contact support so we can check it out.

Just a quick tip. For those of us that cannot afford Element 3D (which, I don't know anyone who could not), you can take 3D objects and open them in Photoshop with 3D and put the mappings on the objects then save it a Photoshop file. Then open After Effects and import that file. You now have a 3D object to work with. There are probably some features you lose by doing this but here is a way you can still use these if you don't have Element 3D or a 3D program.

Andrew Is it any way we could have a 3d models database on Video copilot page. With element 3d more and more we start using 3d models as Blender user I have a lot of high detail 3d models I can upload for everybody to share. Maybe it can be conditions of upload that all models are made by person who is uploading them, must be OBJ etc.. and that are free for use as long a credit is given to person who made them or something similar..

Video Update: What's Up!

I thought I would try something new today so I recorded a video update. Not to be confused with the inevitable "Video Copilot Show", I've recorded this short video update to talk about some of the things that are happening at Video Copilot. I'd like to keep these short and casual but it might be a nice way to talk about things that are difficult to put in words. Bad news: I have to start wearing shirts and possibly shaving regularly.
