In the CC 2017 version, in portuguese the presets may fail. But i corrected in the project.

For those of you who have Trapcode, but don't know how to get the Presets to show up in order to use the Starfield effect, here's the link to solve this issue.

I have after effects cs6. the 3D orbit won't open. It says it's unsupported, do you have a file for cs6? thank you

LOve the effort you put into your tutorials...ive a pretty simple issue see when you change your camera view to the top my null object follows however my particle layer stays in the previous camera view...what is the cause and how do I solve it...any advice would be great

Andrew can you show us how you would move these types of particles on a z-axis like in the 95ers echoes? Its the same style particle just how do we get it to endlessly move through a z-axis and get the camera to follow it what kind of expression would that be?

t_StarFieldStatic1 does not work in my after effect. I downloaded it many a time but still it do not work. It shows the message that
"cannot import 't_StarFieldStatic1.ffx" unsupported typefile or extension.

Going fine, but Particular has this weird bug it seems, where by if I change a parameter, not all of the frames update the particles and I get little flashes of older frames, which appear whether I RAM Preview, delete and undo the layer, change anything else etc. Anyone know why this might be?

I'm a bit stuck - I was following through to the point where you were connecting the particle to the null object in the beginning. In CS5, there is no pickwhip for Position XY and Z to the null position.
The null object has an option to pickwhip to things. So I pickwhipped the null object to Position XY and Z but it came out as an error..
how would i go about this :/...

Im 22, i never never! knew what i was supposed to do with life, is always had this strong urge to be creativ always fantasized about how the world around changed in a way that cant happen in real life. always busy in my head, so i started rappin, it was a good way to express my self but it didnt forfill my desire, and then i learnd about After Effects, but i didnt know how to used it.. i had a very hard time growing up, so school wasnt in it for me to learn more about Effects and all that.. then I some how came a cross you.. a studied all your videos.. i created the same as you in the first place, now I,m creating my own stuff.. ALL THANK TO YOU, im back in school, learning to make my own bussines in the special effect industry.. i cant thank you enough... you really changed my life

I love these tuorials as they are bad as they get - i mean top of the line.
Shout out from australia. So much to learn, after effects is so diverse -not much of a programmer myself but this lang seems ok. Thanks for the posts, completed 3 or 4. Will probably purchase some of video co pilots plug ins once i get employed in the field. Can you guys sell red giant and trapcodes plug ins or similar and a slightly more reasonable i mean they are great. Thanks andrew, i prefer this video co-pilot site over creative cow.

Someone PLEASE HELP ME. Whenever I drag "3D Orbit" on to the Particle Point layer. An error comes up saying "This favorite contains 3 references to missing effects. Please install the following effects to restore these references. ("Slider Control", "Angle Control"" I do not know where to get these effects and how to install them. Someone help me please

For the people who have trouble with the "Slider", you have to open "After Effects" in english mode, or replace the expression to your native language. Go to the "After Effects" folder and go to "Languages" and open "Adobe After Effects E". Worked for me!

I had the same issue as Carlos Vega above ^^^, things became unlinked at some point (not sure when) using CS3 and particular 1.5.1, no biggie though, I just relinked them again at the end

Hello Andrew. Amazing tutorial.
I don't know what's wrong, when i link the position xy and the position z to Position of the Particle Point it works perfectly, but just when i chance the camera orbit or another option like radious, turbulence, etc. the positions are not linked anymore, so after every change I have to link it again, and again, and again, what is wrong? the positions of Particles and Particle point can't still linked. Please help me. And sorry if I have a bad English, I am from Ecuador. Thanks and goodbye

Gday Blackhawk. to find trapcode you will have to download it from the Trapcode website. Trapcode doesnt come with after effects cs3. just go the website and download particular and put it in the adobe folder, under plug ins.when you work with it in after effect it will have a 2 red lines across it cause its a watermark trial version.

As I was working with your products, (Love them) I noticed in several of your tutorials you mention pick-whipping the Z axis of the emitter in the particular effect to the position of a null object and then changing the expression value to 2. I recently discovered that you can actually link the pick-whip directly to the value itself instead of the position name, take the whip to the number.
This may come in handy when only wanting to control only one value.

Is it possible not to use third party progames when not apsolutly possible, i know this is only one comment and it seems irelivent but i think it will help every one with a smaller budget, {i just bought it for the hell of it though!} any way if it is possible to stick to after effects and other adobe products like photo shop, i call it MS paint at work tho becuase maya and light wave {particarly light wave is harder but more effective and realistic}. Wait my point is can u use normal pugins for aftereffects! We are here to learn and not all of us {i am} but agian not the point a 20 year vetrens of degital desgine so cut some slack. {im a freaking nerdy show off arnt i} so stop using stuff!

para todos los que tienen after effects en español y el preset 3d orbit no les funciona, hay una solucion muy sencilla con una pequeña expresion que la redacte en el anterior comentario en ingles. Yo lo hize y me funciono bien.
esta expresion debe colocarse en la propiedad posicion del objeto nulo llamdo particle point

Hey Andrew or anyone who can answer this question.. When it gets to the part where you top view > adjust camera to look into center of particle > when I go back to normal camera view, there is nothing there. If I zoom the camera out to below 100, I can see a small bit of the particles at the very bottom of the frame. I've followed the tutorial exactly and twice this has happened haha. Any help would be great.

Hi Andrew! First, this was an amazing tutorial (just like all your others) and that 3D orbit preset is so awesome, I've used it a ton already.
BUT I DO have a question about the 3D nature of these layers. When I've been playing around with the particles and the 3D oribt, I can't seem to get other 3D layers to interact with my particles.
For example, if I wanted my particles to orbit around a logo in the center of the orbit path, it will never interact. I can get the to always be behind or in front of said particles, but the particles will never fully orbit the logo (be obscured behind the logo when it's behind it and obscurring the logo when it's in front). When I looked at your files, the same thing looks to be true. Your logo from the camera's top view appears to be centered within the orbit path, but if you use the camera and zoom out, your logo is actually never obscured by the particles, but instead sits in front. Any ideas as to why this happens and tips regarding how to fix it would be much appreciated.

Before I move on, I like to say that you are doing a great job and keep up the good work. However,I have a few sujestive ideas that may good and helpful for pretty much everyone.
1) all the premade effects that is already done put into the software so they can use it for these reason for:
a) they can use the premade for there video trailers but with the option of changing the music and the text there way, which all this will save them time.
b) They can use it for there training that will help them see how it works by taking apart and putting it back together and learning how it work and how to make changes on it, at the same time playing with it and doing what ever they want to do with will also allow them to be more familiar with the software as well to be comfortable with it and understand it more clearly.
c) It help them learn faster and better plus it save them labor time by doing faster as well and better and more aranized as well.
d) It will help them through the tuturial better by using it in as an online class room so they can go along with you on how to use personally.
e) you'd be the only software company around that can offer all those features and more which will bring in more sales
2) The other sujestive thing that will help, is to have at least make at least 25 to 500 premade effects like the one on the video copilot preveiews and have it as:
a) sellit as a separate dvd program add-on effects to put it into the software
b) have it already buited into the software.
c)sell it as an alone software for the make a few adjustments and put it into there movie trailers and more.
I believe strongly this will not only I myself but a whole lot of customer/student out there and your teaching job will go a lot farther to a whole new level as well to effect of your job being so much easier as well.
Now I'm just speculating that I may not only be the one who sujested this idea to you but probably a whole lot other user may sujested this idea in one form or another from point to point at one time or another.

Hej man.
I am having a problem here using the preset.
Since i am german and though using the german version of AE,
the effect "Radius" cannot be found. I guess it is the effect you find
in "Generate -> Kreis" for the german version.
So how can i change and adapt your preset to my version?

Auranegra, you have to change (in the position expression) the word "slider" in the same word but in spanish... I am french and I have the same problem, for resolve it, I have change slider to curseur...

I was hoping someone can clarify me something:
When he puts the null object (20:35), the whole particle design changes. I tried doing something similar in other project and, after using the Adjustment layer and adding some more layers, the same thing happened to me. Does anyone know why this damn thing happens? Why my particles design changes when I add an adjustment layer or null object? What can be done to prevent that from happening?
I would appreciate a lot if someone could explain this whole process.

Great tutorial. Just one problem, when you duplicate the Particle layer and check the attributes of the expression to add the + 30 value, you seem to have a [temp[0], temp[1]]. When I duplicate my layer I don't seem to have this as part of my layers expression. Is there something I am doing wrong. I have replicated this tutorial no problem up to this point several times with the same results. Am I missing something....

Awesome!Great Tutorial as always. It's kinda funny i've been wanting to put a demo of sorts for clients to see what i can do. And actually i was thinking of using trapcode and doing a circular frozen type of effect and fly through and around it.
Well lo and behold you just happen to put one up like that. So i'm thanking you in advance in saving me three hours of headache trying to achieve what i wanted. I now only have 2 hours of headache doing the other things.

It really blows my mind how fast you can move through AE. The pace is perfect!

Really appreciate that you went through this one quickly and didn't spend a ton of time "resetting" for beginners.
Watched it for the particles and didn't have to deal with a ton of time spent on moving the camera or whatever.

I was following along with your tutorial, and when you got to the point where you were adding the animation preset "3D Orbit" I realized that I didn't have it. So I went to your website and clicked on the "Presets" section, but that wasn't in there. I noticed on your tutorial that it was in the Video Copilot Folder, not the Twitch or Evolution folder. Is this something that must be purchased? How do I get this preset so that I may continue to follow the tutorial?

I cant use the preset , I copy it in the preset carpet in AF CS3, it keep saying me that the effect slider or something like that.

Thanks for doing these tutorials. I'm a high school teacher and I found out last august that I would be teaching a multimedia class using After Effects (among other programs). Your tutorials got me up to speed quickly. My students love the tutorials as well! They all completed the Basic Training series and that was fantastic.
