Any way to just extrude a vector file with element without AE crashing? LAYER>NEW>SOLID Copy, paste vector. Drag "element" onto solid, click "scene setup"..... crash.

Anyone know why when I add my lights at 10:15, that my text and bg go black? When I make them a 3D layer to fix it... then I am shining my lights at the BG as well. Idk what's wrong.

Can you give us the project file, please? I've seen the tutorial 3 times already but it doesn't seem to work for my logo. So I just want to put it in the ready-made project. Great tutorial! I was wondering:
- How do I copy or duplicate the 'logo comp' in a way that my new copy does not make reference to the original comps? Whenever I duplicate the logo comp and I change in the type001 the logo to text, I get in all the duplications the same text.
Thanks if anyone here knows how to workaround this without creating the full setup from stracth in a different comp.

First of all, you say make sure your're working in 32 bits per channel. But both the CC glass effect and the motion tile gives me a warning that they don't work properly in 32. Is it possible i have some older version? I just downloaded a clean install of Adobe CC. When using AE lights they don't seem to come out quite right. Any idea what could be wrong? what is the advantage of working in 32 bit over 16 anyways?

I've typed another text with another font. When I zoom in (move layer's position closer to camera) the text isn't sharp anymore. Is it supposed to behave like that?

Hey, Ive been having this issue or wall I ran into with my project I’m working on in after effects. I motion tracked 3D text for cinematics and I wanted to add a stroke effect to the text that starts with nothing and crates the text. I don’t know how to do that with element 3D. Ik there is something to do with group layers or something of that nature. I also wanted to know if I could use stop key frames with theextrusion on the text as well to make it extrusion value 0 than value 100 like 10 frames after. It might not even be possible. If someone could let me know that would be amazing. Thanks!

Does anybody know how he makes his transitions look so good like what he has at 0:20 then again at 0:22?
No matter how I try it my transitions look like garbage and kinda ruin the whole effect. And the sad part is I really can't find (any) training videos on transitions anywhere on the web.

If I wanted to apply the saber effect exactly how you did, but on a text layer (which would reside in the Type 001 comp) instead of the logo, how would I go about doing that?

It's been a while that I didn't pause an Ae tut and rewind it xD (cc glass/compound blur) Maybe you should have kept it as a "how to create Predator effect" haha..

Thanks a lot. I prefer to put my logo comp above the Adjustment layer and apply a separate curves I thought that looked better.

I have a quick one for you though. I'm playing around with the technique and I want to rotate the letters of my text/logo. In my "type/logo" pre comp I enabled "Pre-charcter 3d" and rotate the letters on the Y... the problem is that the reflections, dents, the "fake extrusion", and everything is breaking apart. In fact even the examples you've done are all crash zooms in and out, no actual animation on the type/logos. Did you come across the same problem? You think is there any way to solve it (still in Ae of course)?
