Another very nice, and of course very excitting, tutorial. But I have a question about the radio wave effect. I need to have every stroke on the same size and touched without fade... like a banding. Anyone knows how to do this ? thank

Hi!
If you choose 'mask' and you draw a mask with curves, the dimension of the mask is not ok: it looks like he has shrunk. How do you fix this?
Tnx!

I did everything you did. But when I changed the wave type from Polygon to Mask. Under the Mask section there is no Mask 1, it only shows (none). Can someone help?

Hi, why did he pre-compose it (15:40) again and not just duplicate it to make that long shadow? Thx

Ok, so I've made this before, im just doing it again, but when I try and make that first mask, with that shape tool like i used to do, it just makes a shape and theres no points that i can move around.....that wont let me mask it to the polygon either, so im kinda frustrated..

Eyy, really cool animations here! Just wondering though, how do you get your timeline to show frames and not seconds? It's slightly harder to see if I'm following this tutorial right when it shows two different animations, mine often being longer than the one in this video.

A beginner question: where do you get the textures from? Do they come with AE or have you made/bought/found them?
Thanks
Thanks

Thanks Mr. Kramer. Lots of great technique in this one.
Question for anyone who might know. Is there a reason for the 1024x1024 choice for the base geometric shape comp? As opposed to 1000x1000 or whatever. It doesn't multiply into 1920 or 1080 or 1280 or divide by 720 evenly. Or seem to do anything specifically (except remind me of computer bits) So I'm just curious if there is a reason.
Hope to see you talk again at NAB next year. & WOOT WOOT for the EPIC STARBUCKS LINES!

Hi! Your tutorials are sooo inspiring. The best tutorials around IMHO.
I saw this one and gave it a couple of tries but it seems that 'time displacement' doesn't work the same way in CS3 (I know, very old version, but it's all I've got here at my work). It's seems it's not using the gradient and produce no chops displaying the radial waves (only makes the displacement in time). I gave it the same parameters saw in tutorial but doesn't work. Help! Thank you very much!

I don't know if this is the same for everyone else, but the default stroke width for me is 0, so after deleting the fill of the shape layer, you might be wondering why you can't see the dashes... just turn up the stroke width and that will fix your issue. I'm not sure why Andrew's is defaulting to 2.

Hey Andrew. I love your tuts thanks for the great work.
I am having trouble with the dashed circles. For some reason they are small at the start and big at the end.
Any suggestions I'm using CS6

Hey I'm with Bobby here, It'd be really nice to have an idea of how the text and logo's were added. I've been playing with settings and I can't get seem to figure out how you've done it! I'd love the help please!

Hello, I am using After Effects cc 2014 for this technique and I am having a bit of trouble. I'm at the part where I have just set up a Time Displacement adjustment layer and set it to use my gradient layer, but it seems to have no effect on my rings layer. If you could help me with this I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.

So incredibly cool! What boggles the mind is how all of those tools have just been sitting there all this time just waiting for some playtime.
I've been tweaking it using all kinds of shapes, upping the time displacement and frequency and even changing the shape of the radio waves. Unbelievable amount of options and creations with one easy-to-follow tutorial!
Thank you, Sensei! You are a Master Builder!

Andrew, amazing work as usual. Again, a nice base from which to mess around and produce something original with.
To everyone else I understand some people are requesting a CS6 version of the project file. I've followed the tutorial and produced a corresponding project file you can use to jump straight in with this effect. If you want a copy, holla me!

Super awesome how you take such a simple effect and make it your own. Huge role model!
PS: Not super important but I believe the term is "Vignette," not "vingette." Just thought I'd point that out. Good to know for the future!

Great tutorial as usual Andrew, but I've got a question everything is going fine until I reach the Gradient comp where the time displacement is used above it. When I change the style in the gradient comp it doesn't seem to auto update the main graphic, until I change the time resolution (And even then sometimes it doesn't change at all).
Am I doing something wrong?

Just as I was going to play with my new copy of Element2, you draw me back to 2D with another style I've been meaning to experiment with.
I'd seen the time displace effect in the menu for years, but never known how to use it. It's like you handed me a new toy!
Thanks again!
