Hi Andrew, how do you create the particle texture and lighting for the replicator? I tried Optical flare source type: track lights. But it still doesn't look as good as yours.

The option for 3D Object is there. You need to make a new group folder with the model you want to use as the shape inside it and then left-click on the group folder number and to the right is the atom switch/button

Do you do a specific setup for background, lights, and camera? Wondering what the cP standard is...

Hi Andrew, I am new in this forum and this is my first comment. I will like to ask why are you not putting new tutorials on the tutorials panel again like before? are you trying to say we are all professionals now?
That was my favorite thing about this sight, so please bring it back. one or two tutorials in a month, I think that will be enough. and my second question is: when are we going to have soft dynamic option in element 3d? where we will be able to to treat animals and human bodies like a real world.

Just went through this tutorial a few times but I can't get my vector art to be the shape of the replicator. I have paths, precompose, turn off layer and select layer, and the layer in comp to be the one. I get (using blob as particle) my big blob with a faint image of the vector art. Tried it with just a pen tool mask as well but no go. On latest version of element. What is the trick to getting particles to form a custom (logo) shape?????
Jesse

You need to select "move all attributes" into the new comp when you create it

Awesome as usual sir!

From another Element 3D user Josh Burns, using some basic techniques to achieve amazing results with replicator and mask extrusions, find his stuff on youtube, or thru the link I have posted with my sample of that same method he explains in his tutorial:

http://youtu.be/p2nfaxGzz5k

Post your comments and subscribe please, i have a killer Element 3D tutorial coming soon, too, be the first to see it!

Thanks!

OK, Riddle me this. Can you animate between two 3D models set as arrays? I cannot for the life of me work out how to do it. I am trying to do it like this.

1. set up object a as array set to group 1.
2. set up object b as array set to group 2.
3. set up object c as particle object on group 1 and 2
4. use animation to blend between the two.
5. Doesn't work... The array obect set on group 1 is the only one used.

???

Thanks for any responses.

I know the answer is probably really simple but how did he make the blue light in the corner? Is it just a point light or is it a optical flare? If it is a normal AFX light how is it "visible light" ?

I know i'm going to get ridiculed for this question, but here it is. Can you extrude text with the new element plug in? Thanks
AbhinavChauhan

Yes you can. If you go to the scene setup there is an extrude text tool near the top. This is detailed in the previous tutorial BioHazard Logo

Good tutorial.

I want very shorts film like Mid-Air Emergency, search & destroy and grenade throw. Short films like these are useful in after effects even in video shooting techniques and how to bring good ideas for the film.

I hope to release short films like these with new ideas and effects. I trust you Andrew.

Hi AK,
I was wondering if you will be adding extra bundle packs...
I would like a pack (the only way I can afford it) which includes the Pro Shaders and Projectile weapons with it. It seems the only one you have at the moment includes Motion Design which although is a fantastic looking bundle it's not the one I need.....
I'm sure it would go down very well if you were able to select the model pack needed....
Thanks Dave
Ollie
Hello AK,
I also need this combination, and i am on a very small budget so i can not afford the Motion Design (which is a shame as i would love to have it!)
If there is any way that you could create 'custom bundles' of some sort, i'm sure they would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and Keep up the amazing work
Ollie

I am 1 million percent sure by the beginning of this season of TV shows, you will see an over abundance of different Promos, commercials, and in scene uses of Element 3D, just from this overview right here. Do Not let anyone try to buy you out on this app/tech because as GPUs get stronger, this will be the quintessential app for After Effects.

Hey just wondering if you need to have a software like 3Ds Max or Cinema 4D in order to use Element 3D, or can you use it all inside of After Effects.
Blair
This is a plug in directly for After Effects! No 3Ds Max or Cinema 4D required but if you want to create your own custom 3D objects and import them into After Effects via Element 3D you need those programs. It is great though! I'd definitely recommend it.
AbhinavChauhan
