Hey, so this works great, and the presets that I downloaded work now, but Im having the same problem with some plugins. I assumed it would be the same process, but its not working. Can anybody help with this.

Yo i bought this for my imac the other day and the preset files wont install.. i got a 10.6.8 version and i bought pre presets 2. how exactly do i install this thing. i have been here for hours trying.

Hey adnrew! Love your tutorials! They're really helpfull!! But I'm having a problem with my Effects....I cannot use the "particular" in trapcode...it says its missing..It would be really helpfull if you could show us how to istall trapcode or get trapcode particular.

i need help with copying the files to my presets folder.. i opened it up and pasted them but a little screen came up saying: a problem is preventing these files from being encrypted.. is that supposed to happen? if not how do i fix it?

I'm finding it difficult to install the Twitch plugin to my preset. I do know it came with installation procedure. But it seem not working for me. I gues the instruction says a KEY should be downloaded. But I don't know how. Please help me to get this right. Thanks

Hey Andrew,
I keep trying to copy the "Andrew Kramer" folder for the lightsaber preset in After Effects 6.5 but it wont go into the presets file. I've tried at least ten times and it goes through with it as if it were working but it isn't appearing in the folder or in after effects. Any suggestions?

I have now got the Presets Working, but i

Hi,

Hi Andrew. i make movies all day long And I'm happy whith that . It's allways what ever.. when i play my movie in After effects the sound from the movie i filmed dos'nt want play. ( i dont hear anny Voices) Do you know the problem pleas help me fix it.

Thanks for all these great tutorials. I'm having some trouble getting the presets to show up. I'm using CS4 and I placed them in the presets folder but when I load AE, it doesn't show up at all.

I´m using CS4 and found that if I load one preset from bridge and then save that one over the original in the presets folder then the other ones load.

the only problem with this tutorial you have only with PC I have MAC PRO and just isntall the preset you have for free and I refresh 100X and I can not see, please can someone help me? Thank you

I was wondering do u have to have the full version or can it still be installed on the trial version as well? I installed it and i found my presets folder and when i put it in there i clicked on the preset it opens after effects up and gives me

Thankyou so much. After watching your installation tutorial carefully several times, I have installed the easy reflections preset and it is coming up fine in my preset list however when I drag onto a layer I get "This favorite contains 2 references to missing effects. Please install the following effects to restore these references ("CC RepeTile", "CC Composite" Any help would be much appreciated

For all you people who are still having trouble with the presets, you need to install them in this directory:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS4\Support Files\Plug-ins\Effects
I only found this out a while ago, as I realized in my After Effects CS4 program files, there is no presets folder. Putting the presets in the Effects folder seemed to do the trick for me.

Hey.. andrew,, thanks you rock... any way to all who have a problem in presets just click above name project in the installation presets download it and extract it.. den follow instruction on how to install it.. im using a AE CS3 and its work fine.. and some presets like evolution and twitch are not free to download they are in the DVD its package just buy it...

Thanks for this and all the helpful tutorials. You saved my butt after my pc crashed and I got a new one just in time to be 3 weeks behind in my after effects class. Keep them coming and I will but more sweet products!

The tutorials are fantastic, thank you very much, but I have a problem, I work with mac,I install the archives, and I open the tutorial, in this case number 14, advanced double bed tips, but it does not find the particular effect, if I am doing something bad, or is not worked with mac.

To all who have CS4 i found the folder where to install the presets.
In this video it says:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS3(4)\Presets
BUT
it's in the
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS3(4)\Support Files\Presets

in each preset there are two buttons. One says "watch" one says "project"
Click on "project" to get the zip

Anyway. In your videos you have the Trapcode in effects, how do you install that? I've tried to ask Trapcode, but no answer. And in their forums they only have the info for CS3...
Anyway if you could help me that would be really cool.

I have a problem. My Adobe After Effects 7 pro doesn't see the presets. I made like you said. I copyed the presets in this path "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects 7.0\Support Files\Presets" and it doesn't work. I made a new folder and it doesnt't work too. I can see the presets using Animation > Brose Presets, but just see, I can't use them and can't see in the *Animation Presets.
I saw that somybody has the same problem. Could you, Andrew, help us. I need this much. THX.

I have a problem. My Adobe After Effects 7 pro doesn't see the presets. I made like you said. I copyed the presets in this path "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects 7.0\Support Files\Presets" and it doesn't work. I made a new folder and it doesnt't work too. I can see the presets using Animation > Brose Presets, but just see, I can't use them and can't see in the *Animation Presets.

I'm using CS3 and when trying to use the lightsabers preset it's missing the SaberControl feature and when trying to use the DayNight preset it's also missing something. Help? thanks

Hello My fellow people! I did not get a chance to read all the post so forgive me if this is a repeat. I purchased some presets from this site and upon putting them in my preset folder I got nothing. What I came to find out is if you simple copy the folder to the preset it does not work, most of the time. So I created a folder like Andrew called video copilot and copied the whole preset folder (In this case Film Magic Pro) to that and it worked! if anyone has any trouble or needs help please send me an email @ barrosproductions@gmail.com thanks and happy AEing

I am trying to save these presets to the computer. We are using CS3 @ school and there is no folder in after affects once I open it. And I cant figure out how to "unzip" the presets either. Bottom line is that I can't get the presets downloaded to the after affects folder on my computer.

I'm a completely unschooled in AE and I've been trying to start myself off using the Dead Planet tutorial but I'm having some problems! This will probably sound really easy and dumb to you guys but I don't have some of the presets installed and can't find them on your site! I'm missing 'cc sphere' (well, anything 'cc' actually!) and was wondering where I can download these presets?
I've downloaded most project files and used the 'installing presets' video but I must be going wrong somewhere.

lots of u seem not to find preset files .... well those are right here.... just click on any tutorial under the preset window .. there u have 2 options .. either watch video or download preset.. by choosing preset u can download them .. u may need to right click on it and choose save as .. but both ways it work ... AND ANDREW ... u r the onlyperson to post such fine tutorials ... god bless

alright, i downloaded the cs3 trial from the adobe site, but when attempting to try color keying i noticed that the keylight preset wasnt available with the trial. i have the greenscreen set up and everything, but the effects that cs3 gives you are pretty bad compared to the color keying tutorial.

Thought I'd try out the Reflections Preset and I was able to install it no problem and it shows up and it even applies it. The problem is it isn't doing anything I'm not getting a reflection from any Pics and I also tried some text with no result. What am I doing wrong, followed the tutorial to a "tee"? I'm using CS3. I just watched your ligtsaber preset on Creative Cow and downloaded the zip file you have there for that preset. When I try to install the preset I don't have the folder "preset". My question is: will these particular presets work in After Effects 6.0, or only 6.5 and 7? If they will work in 6.0 then how and where do I put the .ffx files?

I just watched your ligtsaber preset on Creative Cow and downloaded the zip file you have there for that preset. When I try to install the preset I don't have the folder "preset". I have done what you say in this tutorial, but still, I cannot find them in the "Effects and presets" window. Yes I have restarted after effects, and yes I have refreshed the list.

I'm from Peru, I want to say thank you for all the great tool that you give to us, all the presets are very useful, and I want to participate a little, for those who have AE in Spanish I modified the presets so they can work correctly in that language, not all of them have problems so I only modify those who have it, the archive also includes de light saber preset V2, I hope this could be useful, you will need winrar to open the file.

Yeah.. I just right klicked on the after effects app. file and unchecked all languages but english...
Well the trick worked for what I needed! Plugins work.. And I can find all the effects and simple things even, which are hard to translate...!

Silly me! I thought that the presents could be downloaded all from this page. So I was confused when told to just click on the preset button- which there is none on this page. Each preset can be found on the individual tutorial page for anyone else blind like me.

Thanks to Speedbreaker and IllegalD, thanks for giving fast advice.... I solved the problem by changing my AE to english version... which I should have done way earlier already!
Things work now.. accept for the reflection on text.... any hints?
@ Mutant: haha.. to be honest.. the first time I wanted to download the presets I couln't find it eighter...
There are 2 buttons... one sais "watch" which plays the movie... the other sais "preset" which downloads the preset!
3.30 am in Frankfurt.. I guess I go to sleep now!

just try to open the windows prompt and type: Afterfx.exe -l EN, that should work! For me it works with the german version!

thanks for the tutorials, but for some reason when i download the presets and try to extract them, winrar says that theres is a problem with the file or that the file is uknown. thanks

Hi guys, when it comes to computer stuff I'm really not too clued up. I extracted the file using winzip onto my desktop then put it manually into the presets folder of AE7. However it's not appeared in my effects...you mention unzipping the file...what exactly does that mean? Really sorry for the remedial refresher but could you break down what I should be doing really simply!

I unzipped the file and put it into presets but it wont show up even after i refresh it version cs3

I think you cannot change the name of an effect, but you can change the overall language of After effects.
For the translation script.
copy the javascript file into the folder "scripts" within the "Support Files" and then start After Effects.in german it is called DATEI_Scripting on the upper left of the screen. start the translation script. now select all effects, that have an expression and push the button. it works good in almost any case. for some translations you`ll have to manually edit the Scriptfile. I needed to edit it for the lense flare preset, because the "flare center" isnt define in the script. just look how it is written in your language and manually adjust it in the script.
hope this is going to help some of you.

Thanks, Andrew! Having trouble using the presets, though. I have AE 6.5 Pro running on a mac. I have put the presets in the preset folder but when I open AE, none of them appear. Even after I refresh the list. Any ideas? Thanks again.

I downloaded the plugin from creative cow and put it into my presets AE 7.0 plugins folder but it doesnt come up when AE is loaded, cant figure out what's up with that. It's a .ffx file but the icon is actually different.. looks like a magic wand and the rest look like electrical plugs. Any clues?
