I've been meaning to share inspirational articles and video clips that I find and here is a great example. It is an article over at CgSociety.org on a new game called KillZone 2. I've never played the game and I don't even know if it out but the artwork is just amazing.

Funny to see people looking down on this game because it is not "realistic". But it inspires Andrew because the artwork, and therefore the CONCEPTART of the game inspires him. Killzone 2 is amazing because its a fresh game, new technologies, very cinametic, what sometimes makes it a bit akward to play. But thats not what concerns Andrew is my guess, dont even think he ever played the game, or will play the game. But if you've ever attempted anything in 3d modeling, you just KNOW the amount of work put in to this game (and all new games for that matter).

I must say I am a Killzone fanatic. Killzone 2 for PS3 is twice as good as its original. Andrew Kramer I suggest you rent the game for a few days and indulge in ALL the beauty. P.S. Gears of Wars is like a Tetris game compared to Killzone 2. Keep the AE tutorials coming, I'm learning tons!

Hey Andrew thanks for the ring tutorial...I have tried to apply it in an another way...I am making an ident for my studio using your tutorial..Only change I did is I made a square out of it instead of a circle..Its coming out nice ...will try a few more things with evolution...then would like to show u...

Hey Andrew, as a killzone fan I have to say that this game is awesome. It has the best graphics to date for any game/system. I've been a killzone fanboy since 2006 with the first game and I got killzone 2 the day it came out. It realeased worldwide sometime in late february if not like the 6th of march, needless to say it is out. PS3 exclusive title though so SORRY XBOX 360! Guess you can keep playing that outdated Halo 
You should give the game a try, even if you don't like the story which is pretty good, or the gameplay, pretty good, the look of the game is undeniably amazing.

I'm not much of a gamer but I have played the Myst series of games. No one dies, there are no high scores but it's the most challanging game I have ever seen. The game URU has some particularly unique designs to the worlds. I once came across the reel of one of the 3d artists that created some of these worlds and I think I saw a post on the VCP forum from him once but I can't remember the name.

I have this game on the ps3, it looks so great. I reccomend that you go and watch the opening cinematic on youtube, it is so awesome

I've played Killzone 2 and if you could show us how to do some of the stuff it does with lighting and environment that would be amazing. It's a truly visual feast for a video game.

Personally, I also agree the art work is very nice and the art direction implemented in KZ2 was very good considering the time was set in a future filled with chaos. However, i must say after seeing some gameplay they up the contrast in some places a LOT. I used to be obsessed with the burn tool in Photoshop but there are some cases in the game where I felt they really over did it. Other than that, they hit all the good points in the game with lighting, shadows, character design, etc.

I rented the game the day it released. It has great cut scenes in it as well. I have a rather large 2 week late fee for it as well...

Thanks for the link, Andrew! I checked out the banner ad for Massive Black that I found on the Killzone2 article page, and holy cow, it is amazing stuff! I'm pretty tempted to make the $60 purchase just for the inspiration. Anybody else take a look at it?

I just play Call of Duty.. and i'm extremely good at it.... I like how the headshots in the game look like the action movie essentials material.... but yeah thats it for my comment. byebye

Ive played this game before on a psp and it was kinda nice considering the fact that I hate these soldier games...Im hoping this one also kicks butt cause I wanna get myself a PS3 console..

If I recall correctly, Renascent had something to do with the game's design. I know he did the logo animation and end credits - not sure about other involvement.
Personally I loved the hologram-inspired loading screens that change colors when you tilt the Sixaxis controller.

I have this game.... What a disapointment. It's like dragging concrete around. You know...like when you turn your gun it like dragging concrete, it takes ages to get it to move and when it does you cannot stop it.
Having said that, the game has some really cool graphics as shown.

I'm a fairly avid gamer so I can share some interesting info on Killzone 2. When the game was originally announced at E3 (a massive gaming trade show held in LA every year) they showed a CG trailer of the game and said they were aiming to match it in visual quality. Well from playing it recently I can tell you it looks absolutely incredible, no just the graphics but the art style as well is executed brilliantly.
