For the 3D Distort image you have above, was that created in E3D? Was that a still that was transformed/warped? If that could be created purely in post, that would be amazing.

On your hinge models with 2+ pivot points, how can you keep them all attached relative to each arms rotation? I've tried making a rig with Nulls but they retain their position information relative to the top parent. HELP!?

Hello.

Just wanted to ask.. what happens when i open my Element3d v.1.6 ae projects after v.2 upgrade install?
Do they still work with and are they in place, the custom shaders and models and so on?

Actually it does the same with my CC 2014 where my scene setup preview window either is ALL busted up or just blank.
Please let me know if anyone ran into the same problem.

Funny, maybe I forgot how to do it but all my old models folders ( Food pack, weapons, sports, ect) are no longer in the scene setup..?

Can someone pls refresh my memory on how to get it ALL back in this new version.

Also when I run it on CC ( not 2014 ) my preview window is all jacked
up...I guess no more running it on CC.

Im sure the VCP servers are SWAMPED and sweating with the load all of us put on it.
My DL is running at 4-500KB/s, and the files will take appr 2 hours from now to get all done.
So yet again: Patience is the only cure

Im sure you have your hands full and are stressed out in an attempt to launch today - and I think I speak for everyone when I say we are all both excited and impatient to get our hands on your excellent work.

However, this would be a great time to give your customers an update of where you are:
It´s now Dec 3 everywhere but in the States and most of us on this side of the pond are either asleep or wondering if we should go to bed or stay up a few minutes or hours more - or if your launch will be postponed.

I bought v1.6 less than a week ago, because you were still selling it as new. Am I entitled to a free upgrade? If not, it would be shady for me to have spent $150 and then another $99 for the upgrade, when the full price of v2.0 costs $199. This is something you should have mentioned on your website or at least do like Apple and say "Out of Stock" so people won't buy an old version a week out from a new one being released.

Not sure you understand the large amount of work he is already putting into this and how long it actually takes to make a tutorial. be greatful of the wonderful upgrade price he is offering and sit tight.

I know exactly the amount of work. I have been executive management for software development companies for over 20 years. I also know historically VC has released an in depth tutorial whenever a new product is released. Not just a gloss over of the features but a real tutorial of how to do things in the new product.

Is there a specific FacinRatio Shader (ie XRAY shader) shader? like hooking up transparency only to the faces of the model that face the camera?(I saw in video blending mode but that really isnt a facign ratio shader) Also what about a Boolean shader/opertation where one model would be used to "cut inside" another model?

Couple of questions. Do you get shadows when using the particle replicator? Meaning does each particle cast/catch shadows? Also is transparency still limited to force opacity? Looks great BTW.

Recently had to start using Cinema 4D (Because a friend had it and let me use his serial number) because E3D wasn't cutting it for my videos, specifically for all of the things that v2 has and v1 lacked, like SSS, Reflections, shadows, ect. I'm so glad this is coming out, no more 3 hour render times for 10 second scenes! Everyone needs this, instead of paying $1000 for C4D if you don't know someone who has it, you can get this for a fifth of the price, I'm nerding out right now, SO EXCITED!

Hey guys. For those complaining about the late release of the Element 2 software, the world is not going to end if you do not get the software today or even tommorrow. Andrew could end the world with the software, and that is why is worth waiting for.

What's worse, impatient people or people that don't care at all? Personally, I'm very happy to see a line of copilot fans out there wanting to be the first to try out the new software. Andrew makes some great products which he is willing to share with us and he has a loyal customer base. The only thing that would be a shame here is if his work went unnoticed and no one wanted to buy his products.

As a producer making unscripted TV and doc-series (often with very low budgets) Element has completely changed the way we work and what's possible for us to get done on a deadline. I personally did all the vfx shots on the pilot for our recent recreation series using E3D (almost exclusively), and the VFX gentleman we hired for series used it on just about every single shot he did. I'm hoping we get picked up for season 3 just so we can pull off crazier shots with v2. Kudos to the whole VC team for changing the way an entire industry can work, and pushing the lines of what's possible.

I want to say thank you for all Andrew Kramer, Andrew Kramer's brother and all the team that came with this new version and all this high quality stuff like always, thank you and i will be a pleasure to pay you guys buying that bundle because you guys deserve every cent of it.

So i bought a new computer, with this configs:

32 GB RAM , GTX 780 Ti 3 GB, _i7-4770K_CPU_@_3.50GHz
Running Windows 8.1
I do have 12 tb HDD and 1 tb SSD.
I'm thinking of buying a Nvidia Titan Black or Titan Z.
Do you think with the GTX 780 Ti it will be good to work with the new element 3d?
or i should buy a Titan Black / Z?

We have just learned that Andrew Kramer was captured by an extra terrestrial band. They want to cancel the E3D V2 release because this plug-in generate serious cosmic distortion that could cause the destruction of the [3D] Universe.
We therefore recommend that you still use E3D V1.6 which, until now, to prevent you from making 12 hours render on 3D Max or C4D.

It might be a few hours before it goes up guys. The thing is that people in California are just starting their day. It's just 9:30 AM there now. Lots goes into a launch like this and it better to be slow and careful as opposed to having issues and trying to working through while people are attempting to buy and download.

I will say that the eagerness displayed here is a testament to how awesome these plugins and packs are. VC is a rare thing indeed. I am having a tough time thinking of another company with such quality products, prices, and service across the board. Not too mention all the stuff they give away for free. VC is a stellar company in every way and I wish more people would follow their lead. Cheers guys! Can't wait to try out the new Element!

Is it possible to add to the shaders product, say if you developed your own shader in 3ds max, specular, illumination.... by importing these into the channels in element, will these shaders respond to the environment lighting changes as the pro shaders would?

Hello. We are a small commercial production company and were wondering if we have to purchase separate licenses for each of the packs to work across all of our computers? We would, of course, be purchasing separate E3Dv2 licenses for all machines, but wanted to know if the other packs would work across them with a single purchase? (We have a ton of machines, so cost at that point gets into the quadruple digits...)

Thanks so much for all you do for us! This is as big as the iPhone for us!

You get 5 Activations for the software if it follows the same convention as previous distributions. You can email them if you have additional concerns. They are great at responding. Best, Sean

Yeah, but the five activation limit doesn't mean you are allowed to have five different instances on five different machines for five different people. It's always been my understanding that the license was for one user, but on up to two machines... so you can use it at work and at home, or on a desktop and a laptop for example.

But I agree, definitely speak to support. If you have a ton of machines then I'm sure they can work something out.

*sniff* It's beautiful! Honestly, this blew me away. I've been using E3D V1.6 for a while, along with the Pro Shaders and Motion Design packs, and I thought those were great... until I saw these! I see there's a big upgrade bundle. Are there any considerations for purchasers of the original Pro Shader and Motion Design packs? Please? Andrew? Buddy? Huh?

Seriously some amazing programming. You and your teams ideas, from materials, to the new motion design pack, to that crazy bend and twist feature, truly shows how in touch you are to what we need to succeed. My vote goes to VC for "Product Of The Year"! Hands down! While so many HUGE Plug-in/Software companies fall short time and time again, VC continues to make us think.. What is possible? rather than what's the work-a-round? I can't wait to get this baby up and running.. Oh and there's no doubt all of our clients will think we're geniuses... Truly thanks to all of you and your continued hard hard work.

Is there any way to have both Element 3D Versions installed. I am working on templates and want to have my templates avaiable for V1 Users too but dont want to miss these really awesome functions from V2 for client-work.

Besides of that, really an awesome update, a milestone in working 3D in After Effects. Time saver and life changer

Zack, The discount for people upgrading from V1 to V2 including back light, motion design and pro shaders is $250. I couldn't believe how good that price was when I saw it! No one could ask for a discount on that. It's amazing value. I'm still in shock!!!

on Agust 28 I ordered Element 3D v1.6 for 150 Bucks and now I have to pay another 100 for the upgrade? So I end up with 250 which is 50 bucks more compared to buying Element 3D v2 now... great :/

So if i will choose to create a lens flare using Optical Flares... and i set it to "Track lights", will it affect the lighting in my scene using element 3d v2? Will the models appear to have some light reflection on their surface?

Honestly, I wasn´t all that impressed...until I learned I can bring back Magnum P.I. via the Motion Design 2 time portal!
If you buy the whole bundle, you´ll get Higgins and TC, too! I´m in - oh yeah!

The more I used E3D V1, the less I used C4D, maybe 50%/50%. Based on what I've seen so far, I'm wondering whether V2 could happily reduce my use of C4D to 90% E3D/10% C4D. Bravo, Andrew!

Was that new bevel outline inspired by Thor? I remember one of your assistants recreated the Thor titles in the old E3D, but that extra bevel wasn't accurate, and now it can be!

Somebody mentioned 'lunchtime', so I'm guessing that's VCT (Video Copilot Time). I.e. around 9pm to 11pm Germany time.

Add on a couple of hours for inevitable VC delays and you're looking around midnight. Give or take.

Hey Andrew, do you think a system with GTX 970 and an i7 5960x with 32gb ram would run Element 3D v2 nearly as good as your system? I can find any info on the specs of your workstation online...

In the video above, Andrew is using a GTX 780 Ti, which from what I can tell is only a tiny bit better than your GTX 970. Well, according to a couple of benchmark sites anyway.

I don't think you'll have any problem running V2 with that setup.
