Element 3D V1.6.1 Ready to Download!

Element 3D V1.6.1 is now available to address many bugs and stability enhancements from V 1.6 plus this free wallpaper!

The update is free to current customers or you can get Element 3D  and join the 3D revolution!

https://www.videocopilot.net/products/element/update/

Changes:

  • Fixed incorrect World Position Null when using downsampling.
  • Fixed Matte materials when using Supersampling.
  • Fixed slowdown when using 3D Object replicator.
  • Fixed crashes when using Generate 3D Position.
  • Fixed crash when using Multi Processor rendering.
  • Fixed environment map not relinking properly.
  • Changed Default settings of Extrude tool.
  • Added AE CC directory to installer.

NOTE: Extrude tool default has been updated to make extrusion easier. The spike filter has been turned on to help cut bad polygons and the normalize scale mode has been turned off by default. This allows text to be created and edited without completely resizing when you change the text. Keep in mind the size of the bevel is based on the size of your text layer.

Top Features in previous updates: V1.5 and V1.6

  • Animated OBJ Sequences Support
  • Built-In Glow Rendering
  • Added generate 3D position null.
  • Added group nulls.
  • New Draft Modes for faster workflows
  • New Particle Distribution Ordering & Repeating Options

My graphics card technically is not supported in the GPU list you provided (Intel HD Graphics for Macbook Pro). Every single feature of Element 3D works find except for ambient occlusion. Is there a possibility this will be fixed? Or is this solely due to the GPU?

Thank you for fixing multi processor render bug!!

Is it by any chance possible that you can make a in depth lightning / Background / Environment tutorial? I'll pay for it, you could make a training DVD/download lessons, or even better, make a package with the tutorials, and, pre made BG/environments/Lightning presets suitable for E3D?

I mean, the work flow, how to make a nice deep 3D like background (are they made in PS?) like them turning soda cans in E3D demo reel.

Hi video copilot!
thanks for continuing element 3d! I've installed After effects CC with it's C4D lite and it is really very bad it is! Too slow to wok with and render, hard to work with and so on.
Nothing shall replace element 3d and no one will be able to bring a 3d package completely in a composition software.

Hello.

I love VCP!
Andrew, when you first announced the release of E3d you said you were going to be making great tutorials for it. And you did release tuts showing what the soft can do, and some ways of doing great thing with the program.

But those tuts are nothing like what I expected when I bought the program. I thought I would be getting (at some point) In depth project based instructional(s), like the kind found in the tutorial section of this forum.
And I am still waiting a year later.

Please make a few more (2-3) E3d centered (complete) project based tutorials. I feel like Im missing out on its full potential because I don't know the software as well as the people who made it. And just showing me what it does in general, plus a few ways of doing a thing or two, leaves me wanting more... To say the least.

VCP is a great company, the software you make is great too. But my loyalty to you stems from your teaching first. Please don't forget that part of things as you grown into a software giant, movie god, millionaire.

Cheers
Ke9

@james if its not possible in element, or asking too much from element. can it be done in cinema 4D or AE with elements model pack, i have seen what Andrew has done Element and it crazy, brilliantly amazing and limitless. so Andrew any thoughts?
    July 4th, 2013 @ 11:49 am
    Im sure it can.

Just use the animation engine, and use a glass type particle
to animate to group 2 into a 3d object.

the the pieces of glass should form into a face shape or what ever your 3d object is. then displace those pieces forward with some noise.

then composite someone real behind it

Does this mean that you can now render your element 3d compositions using multiple processors? Or is it just a fix for the crash windows?

I think that you should probably make the animation with physics help in 3DS Max o Maya and the export it as an OBJ sequence to be easier, the import it in Element and composite.

hey Andrew.I just installed the new AE CC.My biggest excitement about the new AE was the Cineware plug in.But after checking it for a while i understood that it is not even close to E3D about being handy...takes forever to render, you need to go to C4D and turn back to AE to edit and the worst part is you can't even see where your model stands on top view or any other view but the active cam...The only advantage of it should be the raytracing,shadows,reflections...But im sure that Element will be more powerfull when the V 2.0 is out. What i wanted to say is thank you so much again for making our lives easier and i can't wait for the new Element update!

Hey Andrew, Element 3D helped me a TON in one of my newest projects. While it couldn't handle the space battle scenes (due to limits with AE, actually, not E3D, I had to do them with 3DS Max), all of the 3D sets the characters are in were rendered with Element! I also used Action Essentials 2 for all of the explosions and muzzle flashes, along with a ton of sound effects from your packs. Let's just say, without you and your products it would be a lot worse. I know this isn't the right place to ask this, but here goes.
When I do a camera track with the 3D tracker, I right click and create text and camera. When I use that text as a custom text field in Element, it doesn't come in like the text looks. It's bigger and the camera is off.

I'm sure Andrew has covered this 1000 times, so can someone point me in the direction of a tutorial?
Thanks!

Hi Andrew,
There are some features which needs to be added in future versions of Element.

Texture file format
1) Currently it imports only jpg but not jpeg (I mean i just bought a model and the textures were in jpeg. I had
to rename the extensions to .jpg in order to work with element).

2) Tif files are not working with element.

3) I am sure there are many other formats which needs to be worked on.

4) I cannot import normal maps as texture

5) in c4d the colour map and diffuse map are different options...element 3d docent have that.

(I am not much of a 3d guy but i think some of my points are simply worth looking at).
