3D MODELS

Yup. Just as I think I don’t need to see any more tutorials… VC shows something like this. Can’t wait to see this one!
HA! Agreed!
Unless that explosion is stock footage….
hi i love playing with element 3d
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBBtMdml08w
wow, cant wait to see this tutorial!
btw, made a “space environment” video with the use of element 3d and some other plug ins! =)
Check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhKNnK68z9I
Paulo, that was really good!
@Dakota It’s obviously stock footage, looks like FumeFX to me.
Paulo that space environment is pretty sweet. I’m working on a whole space battle short video it’ll take a couple months though. I’ll definately start postin’ stuff up on youtube so y’all can check it out
Can’t wait. I love Elements. As soon as I got it, I followed Andrews opening tut and made this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTIaMe5CGFc) for our 13 U baseball team. I can’t wait to blow stuff up…FX wise
thx guys! =) be sure to subscribe for my future videos!
@Paolo
Wow man, how did you do that blue plasma? And can you list the programs that you used? That was great man!
thx cesar! used trapcode mir and shine for that one =]
If you want to see a cool matte painting I also made a video for that! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llVffLZVBj0 =)
I am loving Element 3d, as well… Could use a tutotial on lighting.. The Metro Templates are WOW but I want to make my own. http://youtu.be/lc3zHZb7cDc
When will it post?
hi AK sir,am a huge fan of ur tutorials.can u plz through the tutorial ,like in mummy sand in face or smoke in face.i know it requireds particles and Z-depth map to do but i cant achieve the gole i want. thx
Action Essentials 2?
I Don’t think so, i think its 3D Fire and smoke rendered as OBJ sequence then textured in element.
Since you can now export OBJ Sequence’s don’t see how this would be impossible
Andrew said NO ELEMENT 3D!
trick question. he will announce action essentials 3 in the tutorial. (if only it came true)
I Remember really good movie with cool effects and scenes much with Optical Flares “SUPER 8″
Haha, poor Sam! Are the explosions generated with FumeFX? I don’t think anything with that much thick smoke is a part of Action Essentials.
Totally awesome, I recommend a tutorial of this
Thank you andrew
please no action essentials 2 no money
If it is you can still find free stock footage online that is similar.
No action essential 2, no element 3d, no particular, no After Effects, no Windows, no more than 2 gb of ram, no PC!
aww poor Sam! Can’t wait till the tutorial comes out. I’ve been trying to find some good breakdowns of how to make explosions look more realistic
the last part where Sam happens to seen a mouse and jump on it…. we want how he do that, a tutorial from Sam himself will do
LOL
huh, interesting, but Andrew, you may miss a thing:
the reflection on the train?
I saw that too.
And shadows of smokes to
He is back
How about 3d explosion ? How about animated OBJ debris so we can freeze and rotate camera through debris ?
Excellent work.
Love the comedy at the end
GASP! NO element 3d? Hahaha…
That’s funny…
Screw you Andrew Kramer you talented mother F’er. Every time I’m working on something you tease of with a tutorial of something that can make it better! LOL.
Can’t wait!!!
smoke in 15 seconds there is no shadow
Your A Hoe For That One
Fun !!!!!!
, Action Essentials 2 ?
It looks like FumeFX. If it is, i can’t wait to see how to use it.
Andrew, Can i marry you brain?
Well, get in line!
Wow! Can’t wait for this. So are you going to make another Blogshow soon? Or are you to busy for that
wow very cool andrew!!!
The explosion is :
1:FumeFX Simulation ! —-The good
OR
2:StockFootage from FinalLight Explosion — The BAD
Please andrew make the tutorial for fumefx !
that’s fumeFX AND ELEMENT 3D
No ELEMENT 3D! -.-
Finally! This was announced in May 2012 (http://www.videocopilot.net/blog/2012/05/upcoming-training/). This tutorial (http://www.videocopilot.net/blog/2012/08/upcoming-fx/) be ba a great follow up
Wow!
Like others i too hope it involves FumeFX..!
Any hint on that !?
Cant wait to watch this one!
Wow! What a failed jump!
Wow! What a failed jump!
Sorry people but that isn’t fumefx (at most there could be a tiny bit of FFX in the background but I doubt it) . If it is AK has has revolutionized fluid sims.
Still the quality of this scene is amazing.
That’s almost definitely FumeFX, looks exactly like it.
waw nice i am waiting for this tutorial
or Turbulence 4d CINEMA 4D
Please be Turbulence!
I’m C4D User not MAX!
awesome, please give us obj file for this video
Andrew you are one of the talented person. I wish, I can produce new ideas like you… Thank you for inspire us…
This looks amazing! By the looks of things you’ve used Fume FX for the explosions, lets just hope we are all right!
Simply amazing. Easily the best looking effect you’ve ever posted on here, I was blown away. Shocked that there’s no Element 3D and a little worried though..hope that doesn’t mean that instead there’s 3ds Max or something
nice one! +its funny the comedy at the end haha
Please let it be FumeFX!
I can’t wait to start exploding things! (Digitally/FX that is and not in real life (just in case this is being monitored by the powers that be!)) Poor Sam! Did he do a Peter Griffin? Ow, ow, ow, OW, ow ow ow!
Poor ! SAM … loose some weight buddy
Yeah, maybe FumeFX or stock footage. But in the beginning of that explosion, maybe Andrew used Optical Flares and masked the wagon. After that, put it together with 3D camera track plugin.
WOW!!! really awesome. I was wondering when Andrew will make tutorials like these…. Can’t wait for the tutorial.
Nice.. can’t wait for this ..
poor poor Sam .. hope he is ok
Andrew, Who is Daniel Kramer?? “Hotel Transylvania – Visual Effects Supervisor” … is that your son?? lol
HAHA XD “)
Thats hella funny
Nice! Check out my last breakdown, guys. I hope you enjoy:
http://www.vimeo.com/croblex/barcelona-breakdown
Watch in 1080p on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/croblexvfx
Well done on this shot man. Probably the best use of Element I’ve seen so far. Props!
Thank you, Kraig. It’s been months of work, but I’m glad with the results.
That is some awesome work!!!!
Yeah, that was great!
Wow!! Excelent job! Amazing!
Beautiful job! Incredible. Was this for broadcast or a personal project?
I started this as part of a teaser for a book, but the company didn’t want to expend more money on it, so… it was cancelled and I was fired! I finished the shot by my own at home later.
Fantastic. I loved all of your movies that you have on Vimeo.
Thank you, AndyK!
Most of people just watch the Barcelona Breakdown video, but not the other ones. I’m glad you’ve like those too!
Thank you, AndyK!
Most of people just watch the Barcelona Breakdown video, but not the other ones. I’m glad you’ve like those too!
By the way, you can check out the 1080p versions of the three videos on YouTube. They look much better in FullHD:
http://www.youtube.com/croblexvfx
What do we call Andrew Kramer when he’s hitting the age 47 ?
AK-47
Hes older than that…
just trust me.
AK-47 For After Effects!
xD
Seriously Awesome Video! I really love you man really andrew kramer you rock without you we would have been nothing thank you and all your hard work!
This is seriously amazing, can’t wait for the tutorial!
Now wats better than the other, every thing on this site is amazing. This site is one of the best thing that can happen to both an upcoming and professional vfx artist. luv you all
whats that mean no element 3d ?
Oh, about this reel, have to say the production value is good,
I guess its particular-2 and Action Essentials2
Lol
More than epic!
Please make the full tutorial!
Hey Guys, Free Unique Element 3d “Interior” Pack made by me, for everyone! Have fun! Huge Respect for every VC member! Check it here —->

OMG Hahahaaaaa!! Lol! At the end I almost fell out of my chair! Hilarious! Feel sorry for the great Sam Loya
Drama, Action, Humor and the digital brush that changes our world. I wondered if we were gonna see that train footage again. Thank you again for exposing this part of the world to us.
Hey Andrew i love u man! Now just one question even though we will see it in the tutoria how did you make that glow when the explosives went off??? Optical Flares maybe????
I think this is going to be the next Action Essentials 2
Looks amazing! Finally some explosion FX on Hollywood level!
Hi
This is completely un-related to the tutorial but i watched Star Trek last night your title on Star trek was ‘title designer’. What specific titles did you do for the film. They are all awesome.
Terrific ! maaan I love explosions… This one is totally new, you can tell by the look of the fire – AE2 still pimped up the scene though: just great. -> you can check out my modest try to reach videocopilot awesomeness (without coming even close to it ofcourse – but well);-)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oQPSGsNhe8
no element 3d!!!!! so i think the train made in 3ds max………….
Tutorial pleeaasseeeee … plz plz
What Element 3D plugin was used to trip up Sam? Very powerful…..
check out my New Work i mad complete with ELEMNT 3D / Plexus and other powerful Plugins:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ocZtC6PvT_U
Sam fall…EPIC LOL!
Looking Very Nice. Lovely Fume Fx work! Nice Cinematography as well! Look Forward to the tutorial!
Sam is the Charlie Chaplin of the AE community, just awesome !
Which camera tracker do u recommend for maya or 3ds max
Yo Andrew, found this great slow-mo explosion filmed on Phantom! Right up our street for reference!
Sean
and the link is…..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZWJNqdxaao
We need to see more of Sam falling down on the job!
I would love to see something like this, but a complete start to finish with creation of the assets in 3ds Max (modeling, texturing, export) all the way to compositing in AE. Obviously I can’t be picky cuz it’s free training, but I would love to see that. I’d definitely pay for that. =)
Either way, thanks for making such great (and free!) training!
Will the tutorial require any 3d software like 3ds max or cinema 4d???????? Actually I’ve seen blender does the job sometimes but this is different… I’ve seen some smoke particles from 3ds max…… Please Andrew tell us a bit more for this tut…. Hope its comming out soon….
Holy shit!! so realistic…. super 8 train explotion production value right there..
Very stoked to see this one, really enjoy the visual effects tuts VCP posts, more on real world applications, too! And really, who doesn’t love videos with Element 3D?
Like this one:
http://youtu.be/mq8nq4N924Y
Shot breakdown for the above video:
http://youtu.be/ZmfEyCYJx54
Shadows? Reflections? Jeez, this is One Big League effects shot. ’nuff said.
COOL! Can’t wait! And that fall that Sam took was soooo realistic looking! Just kidding. Hope he’s ok. It hurt just watching it, I can imagine how he felt!
Superb…!!!!
Waiting for the tutorial………
Lmfao! The end clip where Sam falls is the best. poor Sam always taking abuse lol looking forward to the tutorial even though the wipes tell me how it was done
It would have been even greater if there was some element 3D ^^
Ewwwww, that looks sexy!
Poor Sam, hopefully he didn’t lie down there for too long, who knows what would have happened :/.
Poor Sam, that looked like a real hard fall off the train… way to hang in there Sam.. what a sport!!!
particle effect with large sprites based on explosion, same for smoke, plus 2d explosions bisecting the particle field. Lens flare, one frame coloured solid with screen blend mode. Ground plane with camera mapping so that the explosion runs along the ground plane.
Or using several instances of spherize tool with explosion sprites, tons of ways you can go,
Andrew you may have to remake the tutorial,
You forgot about the reflection on the train and the smoke shadows,
And sam’s rotoscope isn’t blurry enough for his hand part.
That fire and smoke looks like some legit Michael Bay stuff going on!!
SO excited for this.
i hope it’s 100% pure AE.
It is never pure AE. If you want professional workflow, you must use more than one program.
Thank you again Sam for all your tireless and self-sacrificing work. So, for how many takes did the director make you fall down like that? Are you going to renegotiate your acting contract? Are you going to demand a teddy bear stunt double for some of your future action scenes? That looked like a hard fall. I hope you didn’t get hurt too bad. Next time, make Andrew take the dirt dive. It his turn right?
Does this also mean that you will ask for stock footage now from the fans?
This is INCREDIBLE! I can’t wait to see this..
Great VFX as always!!!
My guess is Roto work of Sammy and the Tanks, 3D tracking, Action Essentials Footage, some 3D element debris and clever compositing.
Why is it so funny when Sam fall down? Just kidding. Man he takes a beating sometimes…..
muito bom os tutorial sou um simples seguidor do video compilot
aprendi muita coisa com vcs, recomendo eu mesmo faço oque posso pra divulga o trabalho de vcs!! parabens…
Did you go out to the train yard for this tutorial JUST so you could do that pun?
Woah… Thats awesome. When will the tutorial be out?
Breakdown with lots of linear wipes. I will always love Mr. Kramers sense of humor.
When will this be released by?
wow!i think its a part of action essentials 3!
I can’t believe everyone is worried about fumefx and no one seems to care about Sam! I’ll ask then since everyone is insensitive. Andrew, is Sam ok? I heard the cursing get bleeped out! lol
Really great job, overly excited to see how you pulled this one off!
Most awesome looking Tutorial BreakDown!
Any 3D Application Used For The Explotion Like 3D Max Fume fx or Maya Fluid Dynamics?
And Please use Maya For Any Tutorial.
Re: more tutorials please!
Dear Andrew, 6 months ago I signed up for Adobe’s subscription plan and I have spent almost every hour since learning After Effects using YouTube tutorials. I haven’t actually counted them, but it appears as though you, Andrew, have made about one billion AE tutorials — and you are, by far, the best instructor. I have just purchased a more powerful computer to handle 3D in AE, and I will soon be buying Element 3D, but I have a problem: there aren’t enough tutorials on E-3D.
I know you are busy Andrew, but PLEASE make more tutorials showing what can be done with your new product. Perhaps a Lynda.com-type series that goes through the basics. And then other tutorials showing how to incorporate AE tools (such as Particle Playground, lighting, green screened videos, etc.) with Element 3D. You made such great tutorials for AE, now you need to make them for E-3D, maybe a few short ones every week. The best advertisement for your new product would be extensive tutorials (by you) put on YouTube showing the fantastic things that can be done with E-3D.
And would all of the enthusiastic followers who have written to this blog please consider making (long or short) tutorials showing how you have used it. There are just too few tutorials out there right now for a novice like myself to learn how to use Element 3D. Thanks bunches!

I LIKE THIS.
0:43 Just click it over and over. Boy don’t we all love sam hurting himself? lol. Hope your alright sam!
GIVE US THIS TUTORIAL NOW!!!!!!!!!!!
Please Andrew let it be FumeFx and no stock footage ..
Yes, please! But if it’s not, it’s not to late to change the plan and make it fumeFx! We will know by how much it takes until the tutorial is released.
)
Sammy takes a real one for us!!!
Since the fall was real, I’m surprised Andrew didn’t use that footage and make Sammy’s head explode, which chain-reactioned to the train and Kaflooooie!
It’s most likely max 3d with fume fx. To bad for the c4d community…
yep
ELEMNT 3D MUSICVIDEO by:jess-art.ch
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ocZtC6PvT_U
the truth is if it’s wasn’t for Sam Video copilot would not exist
this guy went through a lot of ass whopping, falling, hitting, killing
if im going to support someone, would be Sam!
Nice one! Looks like eather FumeFX simulations for that shot.
Might be cool if it was actually a full (3Ds & Fume) tutorial this time =)
when tutorial is coming ?
By the way, Chad Perkins just came out with a online course from lynda.com on Element 3D.
OMG It will be the best toutorial… Sooo awesom. We need to see this toutorial.
ESTOY CASI SEGURO DE QUE EL HUMO SE HIZO CON CC PARTICLE WORLD O DE PLANO CON PARTICULAR, PERO ME VOY MAS POR EL SEGUNDO.
I’m pretty sure the smoke became CC PARTICLE WORLD WITH OR FLAT WITH PARTICULAR, BUT I’M MORE FOR THE SECOND.
esta muy bueno amigo espero el tutorial. buena caida no ?
Hi guys look my new video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBtkNIy3bKY
This is amazing!!!! But when!?
andrew.. did you use the boom library for the train´s sound?
OMG! Sam totally didn’t deserve falling.. in fact, he was supposed to die
muhahahaha
Boy I never get tired of watching Sam Loya !!
Roger that!
Andrew only replies comment in Element 3D Video
Kidding!!
This is good way.
You must learn pro technichs.
thanks.
The explosion is real, the tutorial is actually how to make it look like somebody has fallen over by using a green screen and animating position and rotation. Andrew’s just trying to throw us off the scent by digitally removing the explosion and then playing the breakdown backwards. There’s no pulling the wool over our eyes!
I would love to learn to get that kind of realism in an explosion. And with Andrew’s tutorials, you can always take more time and maybe do a bit better than the example. Though, I hope when he says “No Element 3D” he just means he’s not using a tool that makes it so easy it’s practically cheating. All’s fair in video FX, I say.
Another blockbuster tutorial I guess
The outcome is amazing as usual!
Hey guys check this out, my intro of “The Walking Dead” made with my own footage in Portugal:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sWEaJvcLB0
Andrew keep up the good work!
Nice!
Nice job Vitor. Can you explain how you do it? Is there any project you can display? Greetings from Portugal (Lisboa).
Thanks. Paulo, the most important is the footage. The right scenes, angles and some camera work do half of the job. Then some time remapping, effects, dust and spec layers and color correction. But its easier to explain one scene at the time for details.
It’s really really great. Is there any tutorial you can display or a site that i can see? Once more, good job. We have artists in Portugal hehehe
Sorry Paulo. I dont have a tutorial but if you want contact me (youtube channel) and I will be available to explain you how I did it.
No element 3D?? id hate to go back to 3DS Max
Ohhh that’s nice
Hope This tutorial included to show us how to make the explosion footage from scratch xD
I think he is using this stock footage
http://www.finalight.com/-/maindir/webpages/order/_EVT1_HD.php
All of these were done with fumefx…
and how do you know that? Just have a look at those explosions I linked
No , That’s Bad Elements and also Andrew Aren’t need for them because she has the ability to make best explosion ever .
that’s absolutely fantastic. I’ve been waiting for this tutorial. I like also the comedy at the end, I didn’t expect that. Thanks in advance Sir Andrew for sharing.
Andrew imagine a plugin for ae , for simulate fluide like fumefx ! Explosion ,water ! But i think its to impossible !
YOU GAVE IDEA to him. Now see what he is creating a plugin like He created E3D and changed whole aftereffect to 3D world “_” May be in some year he will invent a plugin of his site about real fume fx
can’t wait, https://vimeo.com/55713847
I can wait for this tutorial should be another good one although you had a tutorial similar this one already. Also can’t wait to see you a AENY meeting coming up this month .

I’m really looking forward to this.
When are you dropping “Magnum” on us, AK?
Hopefully he goes through with it!
I am looking forward to see what methods he used, I really hope whatever technique he used, its one that a lot of people can follow. =)
Anyways, keep on the great work Andrew!
Damnit, Kramer, how many times must I refresh the tutorials link before this appears!? Quit Bogarting all the talent!
i recently purchased Element 3d i use cs4 but when i load the buildings they look dark and even their materials look dark in the materials and bevel browser in the scenes tab by the lower left window where they show why is that?
I had the same problem with CS4, but since I went to CS6 it seems to be as it should. I’m still running CS4 as well. What’s the score with CS4?
this is sad……looks like tutorial will never be released.
Doritos used action essentials for explosions in this Super Bowl commercial http://youtu.be/8IXzDDsgOS8
i can’t wait for this
It’s clear that’s a 3d explosion…maybe FumeFx… so there’s no way I’m going to be able to do that in Blender
Hey VC Team, hey Andrew,
we all know you are busy. But, is there a release date in your mind? To check your site 10 times a day sucks a bit.
you are so talented guy, and so funny. Like all what you did, the best one…
It never sucks to check the site
Andrew, when is the tutorial going to come out? So excited!!!
Question : are thoes explosions made with afteburn ?
This is so much fun. Check out what I was able to to in less than and hour.

Now, Please Andrew Kramer a VC Team, hit me with your knowledge and enlightme in the path of Visual FX. Just for passion and for hobby. Greetings from Argentina, My regards to Sergio Gil for answering my tweet also.
Wow. It must have cost a fortune for all that licensed software!
Seems to be an other very exciting tutorial !
Would it be possible to add, into your tutorials, some clues about the sounds used. Cause I thing they are not all in Action Essentials or Designer Sound FX or Pro Scores.
From France with love !
Khan.
15 day and no tutorial love you man
please edit it fast can’t wait
I hope this is done with 3DS Max! I have looked at other people’s tutorials and none compare to Videocopilot! I’m sure this will be a great tutorial!
Wow!! This looks great and right up my alley! I definitely want to learn how to do something just like this. Bring it on, guys!!!!
