The first expected release was "august, maybe early september", not 1st Dec ...
If Andrew is not going to release Element soon, he will loose a lot of reputation, I think.
To make Element available on older graphic cards couldn?t be the reason for the delay. Why all the others have to wait for this?

At first i didn't want to give David's post answer, precisely to "calm down" as he said, but i wasn't agreeing with his thought... nobody here is "being rude" etc, or "acting like..." etc !! we're all here complete respectful for Andrew and the staff !
And yes, VCP is a worldwide site for AE tuts... BUT also a full worldwide business company, and it's just our simple rights to ask just some news, words, about one MAJOR product which has been announced by that Company, and that's all... no more, no less.
Personnaly, now, i'm close to think just like D.Witherow, on 25th november's post... meaning that i'dn't be surprise to find Element3D coming inside next AE release !... Andrew said "no way"... we'll see... ; ))

I said in a cool way, but it'd be a kind of respect for us, at least to give now even a short report about that unexpected delay in regard of what you announced...
We won't "blame" you, etc, but so many of your followers would at least to know what's happening, "what's up", with that plugin, instead of that silence !!!
Mainly here, we don't care so much to see Sam Loya with a gun, or bimbos with smoke effects !!...

Get your facts right, Bilal - Andrew never promised anything (wise man), and certainly not 'before 2011'. Having said that, I share everyone's frustration at the major delay and lack of updates as to a launch time (subtle hint, Andrew?)... Happy New Year to the Video Copilot community

Will you be able to change the texture of obj files, opacity and so on, like with the "water drop" demo a while ago?

Also wondering about it's sequenced mesh files compatibility. Like a(n) .OBJ sequence, as mentioned already. If not through it in the mix! I figure that your silence on this subject means you are adding it to the long list of features, since you always seem to think of everything for your finished products.
Oh, BTW, really curious if that Realflow object in the shot is a sequence or just a single obj file? Maybe it was discussed somewhere in the comments already but will Element have the ability to import obj sequences?

Thanks very much for the response, Andrew. I'll bet Adobe are working on something similar, but then again, they know you're doing it and with you and your team's record for hitting the (sure) target when it comes to quality products that are easy to use, why would they bother? I doubt a specific plug-in has ever had the anticipation for it that Element has and I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.

Been happy to wait for this but the number of jobs I've been doing thinking how much greater and easier they'd be with this is starting to eat me up a bit now One things for sure, we're really going to appreciate this more after all this teasing!

I too am thinking it got bought up maybe by Adobe or someone else. Totally bummed because I can't afford more than $150 this year. And if we have to buy CS6 upgrade could be $400 instead. Man dude you had us going.

Nice !!! Like everyone else here. Release date and $$ PLEASE ! This plugin looks incredible ! I take it you know how many people have been wanting this ability inside of AE ! very very cool !
I wonder if this is taking so long because Adobe are buying it from Andrew to put in CS6? They do seem to like finding the latest cool plugin for a built-in headliner in a new version; Toon in CS4, Rotobrush in CS5, Warp Stabalizer in CS5.5, maybe Element 3D in CS6 - it's the thing that everyone wants. With Trapcode Form 2 recently out and ShapeShifter too (probably a couple of others also), it seems to be that integration of true 3D into AE is what the game is currently about. Seems to me that Andrew's offering is the best of the bunch, so I would be surprised if Adobe haven't been taking notice too. CS6 isn't far off ...

Yeah Dominic, I think you're spot on, mate - it's great for Andrew and VCP, but would mean yet more wait time for us. It would put lots of loyal VCP fans offside. So, I hope VCP releases it as planned, first - then Adobe can grab it if it wants. Time (which is running out, judging from reactions here) will tell...

So you can't CREATE 3D objects in Element? You can only import from outside programs such as 3D Max? Just not quite understanding what this plug in does, but I'm still quite excited for it.

There's so many features this is starting to look quite daunting to get to grips with, there looks to be so much to it. I'd be more than happy to have it released it as it stands, as long as it works, and then have you release an update with any new features you're trying to incorporate.

Like growing plant or flower, formation of buildings or 3D city, liquid simulation... which you can mostly see in commercials...
these are some quite complicated examples.... and tips and tricks about this are tough to get...

Hey, will Elements 3D be acctually in the 3D space or will the objects together with light information be projected on to the 2D plane (as for example cc Sphere)?

About the DOF in the image; Does Element 3D generate a z-depth pass and you blur the image using an external effect? Or does Element 3D has it's own built-in Bokeh filter?

Everybody chant AN-DREW!! AN-DREW!! AN-DREW!! AN-DREW!! This is exactly what I've been waiting for to take things to the next level and its right on time. I've put in some serious hours with C4D after Andrew became very busy and this is the answer to all of my shortcomings.
Im talking 3D objects from particles that reflect! Some serious HDR usage in AE with a bit of AMBIENT OCCLUSION going on... Andrew your the guy

I seriously need to know when this is coming out. There are so many things i can use this for especially helping me make my marketing videos for the company I work for. We have purchased all of you products... (Optical Flares, Action Essentials 1 & 2, Twitch, ect.) This one is leaps and bound of something I have been waiting for for a long time. It's going to change so many things I can do with my videos and really help putting my .OBJ Diamond models and seeing real time render instead of waiting for VRay to finish it's thing before I see my final piece... On top of that, it makes animating a scene that much easier and less time consuming.

Hey I have a question about Element, when you say that Element renders 3D objects in AE but say you have a 3DS MAX scene with some animation would Element render the animation made inside of AE?

This plugin could work very well with Realflow. The liquid could be rendered and use along with 3D elements to co0njure up so many advt which now rely on 3d packages. Hope it can give some kind of interactivity with liquid elements. Would help if plugin features are released.

Will it be possible to export an .OBJ sequence from RealFlow, import the sequence into AE and get a decent rendered fluid sim in After Effects... without a major CG app?

It seems like a lot of people are getting the impression that this is being generated out of Element3D from scratch. To clarify for everyone; Andrew was using a mesh exported from RealFlow and imported to Element3D for rendering. It sadly won't be a replacement for realflow. It WILL however be an awesome tool to use in conjunction with realflow!

...but they KILLED just about everything. OnLocation is in the production suite, but it's like an after-thouth.
ULTRA made an okay transition into Premiere Pro and is a strong keyer but it's only half there. We'll never see ULTRA with match move virtual sets again.

Can't remember the name of the property but will this plugin have a z plane cutoff like Particular so that we can render the same image in halves either side of another after effects layer so the contents of the layer look in the middle of the all the particles/elements in z-space?

I'm interested in seeing how this can be incorporated with other 3D elements such as Pflow, Thinking Particles, and other voxel based simulation plugins like Real Flow (FumeFX being a big one). Can't wait to get my hands on this product!

So that means this plugin has built-in OBJ importer and we can import OBJ models thats exported from a 3d appication like Maya or XSI or Max.
I wanna get Element 3D on the day it gets out.
I don't think I've ever been as pumped about an AE plugin since..umm..Optical Flares!!
PS, does Element3D get along with Optical Flares for instance does the light wrap around the 3D object or alter its reflection? What's it like combining both plugins?

This Plugin looks very promising. Although I am confused it only will use OpenGL - and still look awsome. Imagine it could all the Cuda cores inside the new Nvidia Cards...

Damn! I thought for moment there was going to be liquid simulation and I was floored! However, just being able import .obj files is going to very, very useful in itself!
I do hope the release isn't too far away, Christmas is creeping up and that means it's time to start saving the pennies...

Will you have a tutorial that dives deeper into whatever it is that you did to create the liquid? It may be common knowledge to some, but I am new to the 3D thing and think that it would be great if a simple yet in-depth tutorial was created.

WOW! so this is a mesh from real flow, and you can take the mesh and put that in after effects with your plugin and render in after effects without using any 3rd party 3d programes! that is amazing! can't wait to see more! and you gotta make a tutorial about real flow! this is freaking Awsome!
