Back in Action

Good news! Now that I am finished helping out with some visual effects on the new film Super 8, I'm excited to get back to all this awesome Video Copilot action!

As some of you may know, we started shooting this Crystal ball promo a couple of months ago and before I could finish, my schedule filled up with some great opportunities to work on a feature film with director J.J. Abrams. Now I didn't want to release our promo project until it was completely done so now that I'm back, there are a few last minute effects to do and then we are going to premiere the promo sometime next week.

Until then, here is a short video with some behind-the-scenes coverage.

HOLY CRAPOLY!! Just bought Super 8 on blue ray, saw your name twice in credits and flipped out, and, HOLY CRAP!! again because they used a crap load of optical flares, all the time i was watching the movie i was thinking, "That was Andrew, That was Andrew, and of course, that Was Andrew" and also, i was kinda hoping you'd have a part in the extras section, but no, BOOO, completely awesome job, as usual, also, question, what VFX did you do for Super 8 any way, the train crash, Nelecs head exploding?

Usually you WOW me right out of my pants, but now I'm annoyed. Why don't a lot of the blog videos work with Google Chrome? When I'm working, I'm on my desktop, When I'm enjoying, I'm on my laptop. The Laptop has Chrome. When I went to watch this video today (in enjoyment mode), it said that my Quicktime was out of date, so I updated it and still I had to watch this video in 'Old' Quicktime which worked and now I get an error on other videos on other sites.

I don't blame you, it's a quicktime/chrome error I'm sure, but now I have to put my pants back on, as you WOW'ed me out of them in your last Tutorial and I kept them off while trying to watch this vid. It was just so comfortable that way.

I just wanted to give you a heads up, just in case it's something on the site. If not, no worries, I'll be over there hiding in the corner.

How come Levis Boot Cut Jeans don't have button fly's? I hate zippers. Did I say that out loud?

I just went to see Super 8 over the weekend as I can see many here have. I absolutely loved it! But then after we were sitting through the credits, you know, just in case there was one of those extra scenes at the end, and the final names were going by. I've never really known, whether directly or indirectly, someone in the credits. However, all of a sudden, I see "Andrew Kramer" go up the screen! Great job

I watched Super 8 today And I found that optical flare is appeared sometimes. Is that your work?

Saw Super 8 over the weekend. Loved it, but there were just too many flares. Seriously, did they need to put them in just about every shot? Too much of a good thing is still too much. My friend who went with me said there were several times he was confused why the flare was there. When you notice the effect, it's not a good thing.

Just saw super 8, loved it, my girlfriend doesn't usually enjoy that kind of stuff, but she also enjoyed it, good work! Though, she couldn't understand why there were flares in the movie, I explain why they were there and she didn't get it. She's french though, so no big deal.

Just came back from Super *. Great job to all. It really was a throw back to those late 70's early 80's Spielberg movies. I laughed everytime I saw a lense flare,I knew who was behind it and caught myself trying to name the presets!...lol It was a fantastic flick. EVERYBODY...GO SEE SUPER 8!!! Later.

Andrew, I went to see Super 8 today (openning day here in Northern VA) and waited for your name to appear in the Body credits. You are a humble guy...your name came on the screen almost last...and I noticed that you did the title design...I could help but notice the optical flares and bet that you were a big part of that plus quite a few other things in that movie! Great job and I hope to see your name in lights more often! You should have listed your name at the beginning of the credits, but your humble nature prevailed I guess. Maybe Spielberg had the final word on that though.

Andrew, you're amazing! I've been watching your tutorials basically since you uploaded the first one.

Well done on the visual effect you did in Super 8!!

My friends would always wonder how I got such amazing visual effects into my short films (for school assignments). I told my teacher about your awesome website, he made me stand in-front of the class and teach him as well as the class all of the technical terminology in your tutorials. He made me do that every lesson for around a week.

This is our last year in high school and we are making short films that will be submitted to a program called "BUFTA" (It's in Australia if you'd like to know). It's run by a University called 'Bond' (They are located in the Gold Coast, QLD, Australia) I live a few minutes away from that Uni, so I'm hoping to get in.

The winner of "BUFTA" will recieve a full scholarship to that University (It's valued at $79,200)

I'm going to have a lot of competition because lots of people at my school know of your website, but that's good, you deserve as much followers as possible!!

Any-ways, I'd just like to say thanks for possibly changing my life forever!

If I don't get the scholarship, it doesn't matter, I'm going to do a 4 year I.T. course in Uni any-ways.

I remember when this trailer came out a little bit ago and i saw all those flares, and this was after i bought your entire lens flare studio. I said to my self this looks allot like Video Copilot's lens flares???? and it has that Andrew Kramer feel??? and now u post on your blog about your working on this project! That is pretty awesome!

BIG QUESTION Andrew Kramer? did you design the part in the trailer that says "Directed by J.J. Abrams" and there is a lens flare sliding slowly up the left of the screen?

Wow, visual for J.J Abrams's film? ! Leslie Nielsen would say: BINGO! Your "behind of scenes" looks very professional! I've seen a lot of expensive technology ! how many cameras do you have now??! Regardless of andrews involvement I was looking forward to this movie more than any other this summer, knowing he had a part in some visual effects makes it that much more sweet!
