So just to do a bit of a shout out, I've been working on a project for about a year and a half and I'd come down to one of the last effects in it and was playing around with various things to get the look right and then this tutorial came out! I'm not doing exactly what you're doing here (at all) but I was able to take some of your steps and kinda apply them to my project and now 1 and 1/2 years worth of work is finished. Thanks!!! it was very timely.

This is pretty neat, similar, although this guy used real explosives, it would be cool to simulate the effect in AE.

Hey Andrew,
While looking at this video, and specifically at the part where you want the pieces to 'write on while crumbling', wouldn't it be easier if you just ticked ''render all'' and not just the pieces?

Andrew!! My wife made me watch American Idol last night, and they totally used this technique at for the opening text of the show! Crazy cool. You should be getting some sort of residuals for your work!
