It’s been a while since I’ve posted a free project file so here is one I’ve been messing with lately… It uses the CC Hair plug-in to create random moving fibers and then I used the Mirror plug-in to add a classic… well, mirror effect.
Download Project File CS4, just change the font to something you have.

Really nice project this one, the awesomeness of he randomness!
Keep it up and thanks!
That’s REALLY nice!! I’ll use it for my little bro’s school presentation! Thanks Andrew.
THat’s awesome Andrew ! I love it!
Thanks men ! It’s awesome !
Interesting aspect ratio. Seems like an interesting concept to produce videos in weird resolutions just to see what you can do with a different canvas… I might try a tall one to see what happens!
COOOL PLZ MAKE TUTORIAL IKNOW I CAN SIMLY DOWNLOAD THE PROJECT AND LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO MAKE YOUR GREAT STUFF !!
Wow, thanks for this Andrew….
Nice work Andrew. Best wishes, Bradley and rest of country.
How you did? I would want to have something like this but in 720p
need to try, stretch it out everything.
The effect is nice, but the colors are really beautiful.
Did you use a layer for each color? Or is it done with lights or some kind of preset effect?
Nice design and thanks for the share, but i fear that people will just edit the text and change colours that don’t work and create a YouTube intro and then call themselves “designers”.
Wait till I put this in my demo reel….. I mean….. wait till I use this in a private project…
I have stopped getting surprised with you creativity. I know always expect something great!
Crazy thanks this is just the day i could use this thanks Andrew Kramer.
You’re making me actually think of ways to use that stupid 4-color gradient now! Apparently, there actually are real ways to make it look good!
La classe!!, as always that is just great, thanks
it’s nice thanks..
wonder how many videos out there that have been created with base effect “inspired” from andrews work -
i belive there are most likely about a hundred videos per tutorial on youtube/vimeo where people give no credit to vc and call it their own work.
even think about how many people that have made money on a video copilot effekts with no donation.
its not about the simple tools he used its how he deliver the tools artisticly.
its awesome Andrew i love them
could really go well in one of my video’s
I tried adding some hair onto my actor with CC Hair… didn’t quite turn out how I wanted! Great plugin for motion graphics like this one though. Thanks for another great project file.
thank you for this mr.andrew. you are a great teacher!!!
kewl!!!
particles stay interesting!

Andrew, you’re a god
What a great way to start my morning off. Learned something new.
Another great example of how powerful AE tools can be.
estaremos esperando la realizacion de ese tutorial.. gracias esta perfecto !
Andrew
Are you going to make your site ipad compatible soon… Meaning that we iPad folks can see qt versions of the video.
Jarmo
hiya
THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
any chance you might do a tutorial on it?
PLEASE!!!!!
excellent job ,Andrew
Great comeback!
WoW!!!! its better then beautiful !!!!
perfect Andrew you done great job
This is like something they would use for a background at E3
Andrew, you need to do a training series with a title and subject somewhere along the lines of “Thinking Outside the AE Plug-in Box.”
I’ve been working with AE for just about a year now and most of the AE stuff I see on the web is either terrible or unimpressive as I know instantly how it was done.
Your stuff though … very creative. I often find myself at a loss as to recreating your effects on my own without resorting to help from your tutorials or provided files.
I wouldn’t have believed that an effect like this didn’t use 3rd-party plug-ins unless I’d seen it for myself; that goes for your recent 3D Ball and Shatterize tutorials as well. Finding and knowing creative ways to use plug-ins like CC Hair (a plugin that, to my shame, I’d always written off as pointless), Shatter and CC Ball Action is pivotal to mastering AE and creating fantastic effects, whether you’re using 3rd-party software or not.
Granted, there’s a lot of creativity involved that a good AE user will just have to discover and develop on their own, but I’m sure there are some principles involved (that you could define) as well that would help someone truly master the software and help them think outside-the-box on their own.
Yeah?
(great site btw, I often direct friends and other AE users to this site … if they don’t know about it already)
Wowww It’s Cery beautiful , Excellent Work …
Amazing as usual, thankyou Andrew.
Mr. Kramer
Really off the subject but, what font was used for the movie title “Super 8″? I have searched and cannot seem to find it!
Thanks for the project file.
Thanks Andrew! Your material helps us all out. On a side note, we consider you the ‘Bob Ross’ of the internet.
Happy Trees!
ummm
P.S. Any update on “Quick Matte” ?
Thanks! It’s always fun to reverse engineer how you created an effect. It’s generous to let us play with your project file, and it’s great to see how other artists do things.
Thanks so much
nice work andrew
Everytime I check your blog, I see something AWESOME! I have always purchased the cs suites (student editions of course) but I have never used after effects. That was until I stumbled upon your blog. Man, it’s like opening up your favorite christmas gift everyday! Keep up the good work!
MAKE A PORT TO CS3!!
Without people like you, where would we be in After Effects today, Thanks Guys.
niiiice! you are insanely gifted at this stuff!
A friendly thankyou from your indubitably good friends here in the United Kingdom
Kramer & Co (sounds like a goddamned lawyers office!) you’re all f*cking amazing. The only website to reduce my usually eloquent, albeit verbose, postings to the level of fanboy…..Ha! Cheers folks : )
SO THIS PROJECT WONT OPEN IN CS5?
Wow great work there !!!BRILLIANT
Mac version would be appreciated. Looks awesome, but can’t open it now…
Hey, Andrew, would it be to much to ask about a tutorial on putting together a small but awesome demo reel. At lease the concept of how its done and how the pieces fall inline together. Maybe it would be your next best seller?. I haven’t found anyplace that i could find that info from online yet, at lease not the total DEMO REEL MAKING PROCESS. Again, THANKS FOR ALL THAT YOU GUYS CONTRIBUTE!
Dude youre just the best!!!
Good Job and keep going!
Yes, clancy30, it will open in CS5, although I’m pretty sure you know that by now.

Andrew, did you know that your work is being used in 2 of the largest Chinese tv stations? DragonTV and PhoenixTV both use your sure target software and tutorial. You’re famous in China!

Hi Andrew
thank you and best wishes from munich, germany
I have a question, and I saw that a lot of people ask this too, what is that plug-in called “Dragon” what does it do? I would apressiate your reply.
hey andrew nice effect kinda reminds me of house. BIG Thanks to u n ur team
make a port to cs3?
Hello Andrew, Will there possibly be a tutorial on how you did all of this. As usual, this is awesome!
Thanks for the project file.
Yay finally a use to cc hair other than hair vision (have been wondering how that plug in could ever been used!)
Andrew you’re the best. Greetings from Montenegro!
Mr. Kramer we just love you here in the Philippines.
Thanks for everything.
I saw you tutorials being used in a Colorado shoe commercial. they used the HUD one and they just made it so when he swiped his hand it changed shoes
cool effect as always
Thanks heaps Andrew!!
Cool, never thought the Hair effect could do such a thing, thx for the project file, but i think it’s better for the community if you just give some advice on how to do it, i’ve been seeing too much of your work being used in local television for my comfort, you’re great Andrew, but i think you should protect your own work(although i know it’s easy job for you)
No doubt i’ll see this effect on tv very soon like those before
Thx again Andrew! will use your advice and try making something unique!

Hong Kong
AWsome color-world! Looking forward to the tutorial about ,,payment plan,,!
hi andrew,
whilst cs4 and 5 are great if you’ve got them, many people are still using cs3. would it be possible to offer this to cs3 users? we don’t want to miss out being inspired by your work!
It’s a shame that this project is not compatible with CS3.
)
Will any future projects be CS3 compatible?
I really couldn’t afford to upgrade to CS4 and can definitely can’t now! I’d have to buy a new computer for CS5!
All I say is WoW
hallow every one i wont suggestion how to learn adobe after effect expression witch type of Language in use
java .net so&so so anybody pls help me how can i do ???
hi I have AE CS5 and there is no CC plug-ins is there anywhere I can download them or can you make it compatible, please I would really like to use it.
Thanks
I can’t beleive in 9 days it’s going to be 3 years since your first post.
this project file is great because i was trying to do a grassy render a few days back using particular’s auxillary systems by i had to use an expression with fabinisse series to get it to blow left to right like changing wind (negative and positive values) but with the cc hair plugin, its reli simplier to do.
thanks for the idea andrew
Great!!!
Thanks Andrew
i from thailand thankyou very much
I wish more average people knew about VC so that people can call out the losers who actually get paid for plagiarizing a tutorial. Like the UFC, they clearly used the shatterize tutorial without bothering to change the color palette. Its sad.
it’s a nice project, i am wating for more tutorial. Your tutorial and tips is very useful to everybody, i love this website very much, you are my master of VFX.
Thank again.
hallow every one i wont suggestion how to learn adobe after effect expression witch type of Language in use

Hey, Andrew, good job, man! I like it! Continue you work, i’m sure you can create something like Avatar
Best regards, GoodGod
Thanks Andrew… you are such a good copilot and excellent, I have learned a lot of from video copilot and will continue to support the site.
I tried recreating this in CS3, but it was a total mess! I just couldn’t get the hairs looking right. Is there any chance that someone with CS4 could post some of the effect settings up here so that those of us with CS3 can have a go. Let’s face it, we’re not Andrew Kramer!
respect for this great tutorial..I’m fond of AE.
nice work Andrew..greetings from Tunisa..
Very great job.
Thanks a lot
Really Awesome!!

kob jai der!
Pf i hate this Andrew Kramer, I am joke in, this dude have the touch of Aliens, believe me is to good to be truth, nice work as usual Andrew, with ALOT of IMAGINATION and basic AE. anyone can do extraordinary things all we need is imagination of what we want and then let the keyframe do the job of what u need.
I just found a game trailer with on of Andrews tutorial, this is just incredible, here is the link: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/cg-trailer-end-of/64915#comments_top
I let you find where the tutorial is
Can someone please direct me to a link were I can get these plugins? Pleaseeee!!!!!
Nice result. Not sure if I like the CC hair plugin a great deal. Bu this looks pretty cool. Sort of scarab beetle ish at points. Suitable for a stargate series title or something like that.
I like how no matter what you create it has that Video CoPilot look. Which is recognizable in so many places. Have you worked on the trailer titles for the new JJ Abrams film?
We get a lot of students claiming it is there own work when sending in there demo reels to my work. We have to explain that opening a project, changing the text is not the same as actually learning from the project.
Thank You!!!! You are the best! I respect you!
Great Job pls upload tutorial…………
Andrew doesn’t have to protect his work
You can say whatever you want but those people who used his projects cannot hide from their-selves… Also i don’t know a guy working with AE, who doesn’t know VC website. And Andrew by his-self told us “Hopefully you can put those tutorials together and create some cool stuff, youmust understand that Andrew does his own projects for quite good bill, I guess, with his another cool way.. Rly don’t think he feeds us with everything he knows:) He is just generous person. I don’t wanna even know what he is doin’ with, as you guys saying,“Thinking Outside the AE Plug-in Box.†projects.. Once again thank you Andrew and keep it up:)
soo beautyyy! thank uu!
Andrew, it’s always amazing to see how you can turn a standard plugin, that doesn’t seem to be much useful (well, at least useful to me …) into something eye-catching. More of that, please !
Yo Andrew,
love your work man en keep it up. To be honest: with this little intro it is the first time that I am not impressed, sorry but your other project are way to cool te overrule them al the time
maybe next time. Looking forward..

Hey Andrew or others, is this project royalty free? I assumed so but I wanted to double check because I threw our company logo in there and my supervisor loved it and want’s to put in some our training videos. Andrew, I absolutely love it and I don’t want to cross and lines whether they be moral or legal.
That’s Andrew man…
looking awesome
This looks really great!
It would be great if you could make a tutorial out of this!
Yo! Andrew, you are awesome. You are Michael Jackson in After Effect’s world!!! Greeting from Thailand, the land of smile

You are the best designer i ever seen!
Like others, I love your work, Andrew and have bought many of your DVDs. It is a shame that you haven’t allowed for people working in CS3 to be able to access your fantastic work here though. PLEASE can you include a CS3 version?
NICE, I really liked it *_*
Thanks a lot! Thery nice, best ragards from Krasnoyarsk City, Russia:) Here again track your successes
Forgive for bad English:)

I’m not to AE and I just wanted to do some video editing and put up some simple titles. I never expected to find something to amazing! You are a blessing to me!
YOU ARE MY TEACHER! you are not only talented, YOU are a GURU OF VISUAL EFFECTS !!!!!!!!! GREAT Andrew! Thank you very much!

Andrew man amazing as always, you can easily see creative forms to use any tool you found, thanks for teaching it to any person in the world. Best wishes from MedellÃn – Colombia.
Saw this project verbatim as a intro for this video with the exception of the text. Kind of made me laugh.
