VC Plug-in Updates for AE CS5 x64

UPDATE: Twitch ZIP file updated. Thanks.

Alright! So many of you have upgraded to After Effects CS5 for all the 64-bit amazingness and so we have been working to update our 32-bit plug-ins to work with the new version. Of course we will continue to develop and support the our 32-bit plug-ins as well.

Here is what you need to know for VC Tools:

All of our Stock Footage, Music and Sound FX products like Action Essentials II & Pro Scores are already compatible with AE CS5, there is no update required. The free video Copilot Presets will also work in CS5 as well.

For our paid plug-ins such as Optical Flares, Twitch, as well as our free tools, Sure Target and VC reflect, After Effects CS5 requires a 64-bit version to work.

Here is the download information:

VC Reflect 64-bit

Sure Target 2 64-bit

Twitch 1.1 64-bit (Requires email address, re-use your current license)

Optical Flares 64-bit:

While working on the 64-bit update for Optical Flares, we ran into a small hitch that was going to change the way pop-out windows would behave on OS X. So we decided move forward on a new feature that would solve this problem and give people with larger screens more space.

Basically the Optical flares update will now launch in Full-Screen mode, with resizeable control windows to take advantage of more screen space for editing and browsing presets. This update will be available for 64-bit and current 32-bit customers at no charge.

We apologize for the delay and we expect this to be available next week.

Thanks. I'll wait to get CS5, though. Normality is in almost all of my projects, so I'm going to wait until an alternative comes out that works with CS5. Maybe a good plugin for you guys to develop.

Great news, thanks for the update!

Any way you could do a quick release of Optical Flares 64-bit w/o the new changes so we at least have some OF functionality in CS5?

I'm in the middle of a big project and CS4 was crashing and driving me crazy, had to jump on CS5 right away - but I use OF all over the place (not just lens flares) and can't render anything for client approvals now.

I realize you'd prefer to just do one release, but hey, can't hurt to ask.... :)

Thanks for providing the 64bit versions. I just downloaded the new twitch plugins and everything is fine, but I do not understand why it is labelled version 1.1: I already had 1.2 (the file was from June 2009)
Do you recommend to substitute the 32 bit version 1.2 by this "older" one ?

Hi Andrew. I download the twitch update and install it, but i cant see in the plugin the animation presets like i used to in CS4. I copy the twitch presets folder inside the presets folder of CS5 just like in CS4, but to use the preset i have to go to the animation presets panel, navigate and apply. What am doing wrong?
Thanks

May 8th, 2010 @ 5:02 am
@ Jaime - Adobe has hidden the effects presets in the plug-in window by default. You can make the effect presets visible by clicking that little icon in the upper right corner of the effects widow and choosing "Show animation presets". I went through the same confusion.

Sure Target and Open GL in After Effects. Getting BSOD after installation of Sure Target 2. Running two GTX 260 in SLI. Have driver 197.45 which is latest to support Open GL and CL in CS5. Once uninstalled Sure Target 2 did not get any BSOD. If I have Sure Target 2 installed with open GL off then I do not get BSOD. Just giving you a heads up. Perhaps you can see if you can replicate the issue.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for progress towards CS5 64 Version.

Are all the plugins available to buy CS5 64 version ready?
or I still have to buy the olds and upgrade that way?

Hope to hear

Regards
Mike Vanner
May 9th, 2010 @ 8:31 am
Thanks for your Plugins!

And while your at it:

1. Disable the mouse-over/open panel behavior

2. When I hit "Cancel" in the Optical Flares Interface then an annoying confirm dialog pops up, with no chance to tab to any of the buttons, and no button is preselected. Please get rid of this confirm dialog box, when I hit Cancel, I know what I am doing. That is an extra click every single time.
And if you want to keep it, label the Cancel-Button "Cancel...", This way I know that a second dialog box pops up. Don't use buttons labeled "YES" and "NO" where I have to read the hole text first to decide which button to press. That is an ugly Windows leftover. Buttons have to be labeled with what they do, like "Save" "Don't Save" "Cancel" whatever. (http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/AppleHIGuidelines/XHIGControls/XHIGControls.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP30000359-DontLinkElementID_9)

2. When I change something in the Optical Flares Interface and hit "OK", no dialog pops up. And then there is no way to undo my changes, to return to the previous state, which is even worse. I loose all my previous settings. Please introduce a way to undo changes inside the After Effects Interface.

And keep up the good work.

May 13th, 2010 @ 5:51 pm
@Michael - no, you can have both cs4 and cs5 installed at the same time. Probably always a good idea to keep the previous version around in case you have any problems with the new (especially since cs5 require you to update all your plugins with 64bit versions.)
May 13th, 2010 @ 5:52 pm

In reference to my problem of loading CS5 Premiere Pro when VC Reflect and Sure Target 64 bit are in the common/plug-ins/CS5/MediaCore folder: Thanks to Ann Bens on the Premiere Pro Forum. She suggested that I move the VideoCoPilot plugs to the After Effect Plug-in Folder. It worked. After Effects stills recognizes the great VideoCoPilot plugs and Premiere, now, loads.

Thanks, all.

hello andrew,
I follow your work for a long time and I think that what you do is fantastic. Not only the quality and creativity but mainly for their selflessness in sharing this with other artists. For this reason, I wanted to know from you if there is the possibility to export the information from the camera to a program after 3d (in my case, the lightwave .. but could be maya or 3dsmax.) If possible I would like sincerely to know. I found a script but that only works on version 6.5 of After and only on PCs, Mac does not work.
If you can give me a "light" in that sense, I would be very grateful.

I appreciate the care received.

You website is incredible, I really learn how to use after effects looking your tutorials.
Now I have a little question. In one of the tutorials I look that there is a plug-in call Quick Matte. My question is, the quick matte plug-in is an old one plug-in or a new one, coming out soon??
Thanks again, you’re awesome

I'm looking forward to the Optical Flares update - was hoping for it this week but better to get it right than fast. I was amused at the posting stating that it will be available next week (which is this week last week) - maybe next week. BTW - super tutorials, Andrew - your tutorials are the reason I decided to branch out from video editing to compositing. Truly brilliant!

hey guys, i just wanted to leave a post, i have one of the new macbook pro i7's and im pretty sure its a 64 bit, otherwise aftereffects cs5 wouldnt work on it, anyhow i downloaded the suretarget 2 plugin and i dropped the 64 bit plugin file into my plug in folder and it didnt work, so i then tried the 32 bit suretarget plugin file and that worked.
If im wrong sorry, to bother

you guys are doing and awesome job

cheers

hi
I think if you add a null object to any target linked to the layer in your sure target and then target the camera to it not to the layer itself, it will be possible easier to tilt and pan by moving null object.
sorry for my bad english and thanks

Something interesting I noticed about Sure Target 2 64-bit on CS5 for Mac. When you apply it to the null from the Effects & Presets panel, I get an error message and it doesn't work, sometimes the program crashes too. When I apply it from the Effects drop-down menu, no error, no crash, plugin works. Seems like a little bug.

Great! You've gotta put a link to this on the main Sure Target page, I had to go to google and search before I was able to find if you had a 64bit version.

Thanks A lot.
