An Important Day

There are big changes happening at Video Copilot…

As we approach the release of our new Power Plug-in Optical Flares, we realized that it’s time we expand our team and hire a full-time lead programmer to help with future development and maintenence. This is an important move that is an essential step towards creating next-generation software & plug-ins at Video Copilot. Optical Flares is not only our most advanced plug-in but now we have the staff to develop and maintain it with features and compatibility.

So please Welcome Sergio to the Video Copilot community.

My goal is to focus on ideas and features and then work with Sergio to bring them to life. In the case of Sure Target 2, I had a few crazy ideas that I never would have attempted but with an actual programmer, we made it happen. It also helps that he is a genius :)

As you know, Video Copilot is a business and I believe our success is an opportunity to develop new tools and amazing technologies that will benefit the visual effects community and lead to greater possibilities.

Today is an important day…

A warm welcome to Sergio. Creative ideas somtimes need a technical aspect to be realized...
As an flash developer i can tell ;)

and always remember: developers and programmers ARE... "boring people without a life". Nothing personal just heard that at the AdobeMax conference and couldn't resist to quote that line.

True programmers will never be social creatures or talk to commoners on a level they remotely understand; but they possess an amazing ability to think in logic that makes what they bring to the table a very valuable resource.

Do us proud, Sergio of VCP.

Hi,

will the optical flares plugin work in Digital Fusion?

Most After Effects Plugs work in Fusion, but if user interfaces differ from the basic standards they won´t work.

So, is there only your advanced interface or is this optional?
Thanks

How could you simplify our worflows and have us easily use your effects in AE AND Ppro.

Just a though...

Andrew;
I've been a lurker for awhile. I've bought four of your disks and they're great. For ten years I ran an online mag and I know how hard it is to make this work.

This is particularly difficult when you do it by giving away top quality stuff. Your tutorials have really lifted my work up several notches.

I just wanted to say that it's great to see you are succeeding by doing it the hard (and generous) way.
congrats.

good news for the future of AE with VC !
the adobe developpers are seleeping quite a whilethis last years.
time for you to create strong fonctionality to our favorite tool.

-there is a long list of poor fonctions to boost, morphin, for exemple shoud be a aesy task now, but y am still using elastic reality for that (old, but very fast with the newests pcs ;)

-retiming perfectly is still a very painstaking task to do also.

-hey guys, you have scared knoll light factory, ah, ah ! ! sudenlly they anounced they updated their plug... so funny.

so...good work, old on, bravo!

p.s. does the addition of sergio mean we got to start paying for the tutorials?? Cause we all know programmers are sooooo over priced :P....just kidding...don't take any note of the last 3 lines :)

Hi Andrew, and welcome Sergio,

IF I WRITE IN CAPITALS....WILL YOU NOTICE WHEN YOU'RE SCROLLING DOWN? lol

I KNOW WHAT YOU AND THE NEW TEAM CAN DEVELOP. NOW THAT YOU'VE MADE AN AFFORDABLE LENSE FLARE PLUG-IN ( I'd make a substantial bet that it'll be less than Knoll Light Studio!)

...Can you next look to make an affordable keying software. Ultimatte is outstanding as I use it as work, but I'm definately not going to pay £1,000 of my hard-earned cash to use it at home. It's just too much money for what it is. If it's affordable...then people won't use dodgy copies of it and buy it.

Why can't software companies make this simple correlation! (rant, sorry!)

I'm sure, step-by-step you'll blast all these big names out of the water. Just DON'T YOU DARE sell your soul to some big company so you can retire at 40! lol

Keep up the good work Mr Kramer

Hello to Sergio, The VC Team is second to none, Good luck and Now get cracking on those programs. Did that sound too Bossy? anyway, welcome to the VC World.
Jack McKinney
December 12th, 2009 @ 9:11 pm
I think the most shocking thing about this announcement is that only NOW are they bringing an actual programmer on board. When you consider the quality and ease of use of the plugins they have released so far (Twitch, Sure Target, Twister, etc.), it is positively mindboggling that these were done in-house but without a full-time pro programmer. Frankly, I think the software Andrew releases is among the very best out there for AE so I can only imagine what the future will bring with Sergio at the table.

Top that off with the fact that they give these plugins away for free half the time and...well, it's no wonder we all keep coming back. Much like the person that emailed in today regarding the 3D graph technique, I suspect many, many of us have projects that were either greatly improved by what we've learned here, or maybe wouldn't have been possible at all.

VC just went from my personal favorite post-production site for tools and knowledge to a major contender for the industry standard as far as I'm concerned (if it wasn't already).

So welcome, Sergio. Thank you, Andrew (as always). And keep up the amazing work.

Hey, I just received and email from Red Giant announcing their Knoll 3D Flare Beta. Interesting...
Lou
December 17th, 2009 @ 10:08 am
After watching the Knoll 3D demo video I don't think VC has much to worry about. The Red version looks very limiting, Video Copilot version looks like the way to go.
December 17th, 2009 @ 3:02 pm
Yeah... interesting timing on them putting out their beta though... looks like VC is doing something right eh?

I'm still waiting for the VC lens flares... but... hurry up bishes!! =)

Always a joy to visi your site. I cannot wait to see what the future holds at VC. I actually rented Star Trek just to see the title sequence. Brilliant as usual!
