Awsome tutorial!
Big thanks!

I have a question if Antons out there could help me out.

I have done an animation, the text comes in from the side and scales down. The problem is that the rust is not following.. it’s not stickning to the text.

How do I make the rust stick to the text?

Hi Andrew.
Too bad you ran over the paint effect so fast.. That's really the one I needed the most - and I wasn't able to recreate it because you rushed through it too fast for me... Damn...

Thanks a lot though - awesome tutorials!

Needs CS6 or higher at least for the CC Glass Light setting to work as CS 5.5 only shows as Effect Light / AE Lights (requires CCfx HD) - and doesn't appear to be a free add-in for CS 5.5 users... according to https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2472378

Quick question Andrew,
Is Element 3D dead as a product? Meaning you will no longer be further advancing it's development and/or adding new features or supporting new 3D technologies like Vulkan, Metal, Nvidia RTX, etc. If that's the case, no problem. this kind of thing happens in the software industry all the time, companies have to move on to other products. However please just communicate that to your paying customers who need to look for other options. No one will be mad, we understand.

Thanks

And yet another long stretch with no communication with your community... Why?
How about just a quick hey guys, i'm still working on (insert project name here), please be patient. Here is a quick look at what I've been working on [screen shot]. Just hang on I'm planning a big release soon.

Ya know something like that....Why not?

Wow! I can't believe that despite Andrew taking the time from his busy schedule, not to mention his family, to do FREE Hollywood-level VFX tutorials, there are still a few people complaining about Intercept, lack of tutorials and no E3D v3 news. Did I say, FREE? Because I meant FREE.

Great tutorial Andrew I like the way of explaining why we do stuff. It's sometimes harder to explain that to do I'm gonna do it and share my result ASAP I was a bit busy with some other proeject and did not have time to experiment with that. keep it up Andrew
Jesus, I got some headache after this tutorial. It was so fast. I had to switch every five seconds between Youtube and AfterEffects to press the pause button to follow you. ;)
Now I understand why you was lost in space for some time. I don´t think this was an afternoon development. Great work...it´s always unbelievable what you get out of After Effects.

Many thanks for sharing your professional experience. Very appreciated. It´s always a pleasure & inspiring! Good to see you back.

First off, AWESOME Tutorial. I love how you, in contrast to most other Tutorials, explain why to do stuff. I actually learn alot in that way. Still I'm having the problem that the linear wipe effect in the end doesnt work right for me. It removes the cracks but the moss and the grass stays. I rewatched the whole section where this is explained, but i can't seem to find my mistake. Does somebody have an idea? I don't fully understand the relations between the different Precompositions and masks, which is probably why i don't know where my mistake is.
    LWAddict
Yeah, the problem is more than likely with precompositions...
copy, paste, duplicate, stacking order... and of these moves need to be paid careful attention to.
Practice with precomps, copies of precomps, and stacking order to really get a feel for how important they are. These are key to the procedural techniques used here.
    Michael
I have the exact same issue. The tutorial adds the fast box blur to the Decay Alpha inside the Cracks precomp and the result is that only the cracks themselves fade in, not the moss or grass. Any help would be appreciated to get this working

I have been trying to follow this tut but instead of using text I am trying to use a black and white BMP of a shape. However, when I go to apply the inner glow in the Decay Bevel pre-comp, it only applies it to the outer edges of the comp. Not the individual shapes (which are your individual letters in the video) I have tried all I can think of to fix this, but nothing works. Any suggestions?
    LWAddict
Would have to see the comp... and are you applying the inner glow to the contents of the precomp OR to the precomp itself?
    Makes a difference.
    Leila
I had this problem, its because you're meant to just have the white part of the logo before bringing it into after effects. So the rest of the logo where it's black is actually transparent in this tutorial, it's just because he has switched off transparency mode that it appears to be a black background
    DB

I had the same issue with a logo, so i took it into Illustrator and redrew it with transparent background and it worked perfectly.

wonderful,I want to see Intercept and more tutorials as much as anyone else, but if he's not releasing anything it means he's working on a Hollywood film that he can then pass that knowledge and learning on to us. All of which he got by working his butt off making free tutorials.

Hi,
Anyone know how to use this effect to create text turning to ice?
    Bram
Set the hairs of CC Hair to very short (like 9) in the Grass FX, make em blueish white, throw a CC Glass on top and the Density way up, so they look like chrystal shards. Make sure the Decay Bevel has some very light and thin cracks (make em more grey/white to make em less visible). Use an icy texture instead of the Rock Texture for your font and you're good to go :)

Look in the Glitch Effect tutorial for that very usefull reflection method. The floor (with the texture Andrew used) looks kinda icy as well.

Very Professional work Andrew!!
You have mastered your After Effects skills to such a high level, that you don't need to use NUKE in order to deliver film industry standard visual effects. I think After Effects has entered significantly the film industry because of your contribution. That been said, Adobe should give you half of their profits! haha!!

Take care!!

Amazing work as ever guys. Only one request - all the latest stuff seems to be sci-fi based. There's a lot of us out here who make corporate videos that just don't use that stuff. Anything more widely useful possible? Keep up the great work!

Btw, typically this might be glassy effects overlaid on office footage.... maybe word cloud generating, maybe super slick captions... Maybe ways to relight bad footage etc. Thanks.
