First off, AWESOME Tutorial. I love how you, in contrast to most other Tutorials, explain why to do stuff. I actually learn alot in that way. Still I'm having the problem that the linear wipe effect in the end doesnt work right for me. It removes the cracks but the moss and the grass stays. I rewatched the whole section where this is explained, but i can't seem to find my mistake. Does somebody have an idea? I don't fully understand the relations between the different Precompositions and masks, which is probably why i don't know where my mistake is.

I have been trying to follow this tut but instead of using text I am trying to use a black and white BMP of a shape. However, when I go to apply the inner glow in the Decay Bevel pre-comp, it only applies it to the outer edges of the comp. Not the individual shapes (which are your individual letters in the video) I have tried all I can think of to fix this, but nothing works. Any suggestions?
OMG, this one is simply MIND-BLOWING.

What if I want the wind map on the grass to loop? what would be the best way to go about doing that?
wonderful,I want to see Intercept and more tutorials as much as anyone else, but if he's not releasing anything it means he's working on a Hollywood film that he can then pass that knowledge and learning on to us. All of which he got by working his butt off making free tutorials.

Extraordinary ingenuity as always, VC! Any chance we'll see the ability to distress bevels such as this in Element 3D 3.0?

I was mind blown by the tutorial, insane, that you come up with all this stuff, and some of us dare to whine in the comments where is the next tutorial.

I know in the last two tutorials you teach so many techniques and they are great, but i wonder if the same effects would be easier to achieve in let's say C4D or Blender?

Man, this is the BEST TUTORIAL you ever made! You really show what you can do with AE when you know it so well than you do.
Unfortunately nobody knows AE this much, neither Adobe, so thanks for existing, Andrew!!

Hi,
Anyone know how to use this effect to create text turning to ice?
    Bram
Set the hairs of CC Hair to very short (like 9) in the Grass FX, make em blueish white, throw a CC Glass on top and the Density way up, so they look like chrystal shards. Make sure the Decay Bevel has some very light and thin cracks (make em more grey/white to make em less visible). Use an icy texture instead of the Rock Texture for your font and you're good to go :)

Look in the Glitch Effect tutorial for that very usefull reflection method. The floor (with the texture Andrew used) looks kinda icy as well.

Jesus, I got some headache after this tutorial. It was so fast. I had to switch every five seconds between Youtube and AfterEffects to press the pause button to follow you. ;)
Now I understand why you was lost in space for some time. I don´t think this was an afternoon development. Great work...it´s always unbelievable what you get out of After Effects.

Many thanks for sharing your professional experience. Very appreciated. It´s always a pleasure & inspiring! Good to see you back.

Very Professional work Andrew!!
You have mastered your After Effects skills to such a high level, that you don't need to use NUKE in order to deliver film industry standard visual effects. I think After Effects has entered significantly the film industry because of your contribution. That been said, Adobe should give you half of their profits! haha!!

Take care!!

Amazing work as ever guys. Only one request - all the latest stuff seems to be sci-fi based. There's a lot of us out here who make corporate videos that just don't use that stuff. Anything more widely useful possible? Keep up the great work!

Btw, typically this might be glassy effects overlaid on office footage.... maybe word cloud generating, maybe super slick captions... Maybe ways to relight bad footage etc. Thanks.

Amazing tutorial Andrew! Without 3rd party plugins even! Very useful techniques I can use to my own free creativity.Thank you so much!
I hope you will also make tutorials with my favourite AE plugin Element 3D!
I am experimenting with 3D objects a friend of mine makes for me and it's amazing how many things I can do with it.
Hopefully there will be a new version soon with more kick ass options! Also looking forward to those packs with the facial scars and building destruction elements you showed a while ago.
Today I am working on a commercial with some serieous special effects and I know I couldn't have done this without your tutorials..
So again thank you my friend!
