    Good question.
Lately I can imagine how the shadow feature can be needed so much.

    April 17th, 2014 @ 3:25 am
Not only that. Also blend modes for textures, which we saw Andrew working with in the StarTrek-MakingOf ... how can they hold back a feature like that for such a long time? Is v2 going to be a paid upgrade? That would explain a lot.

Yes! Finally! I've spent so many hours looking for sounds for motion graphics and trying to find high quality sounds at a reasonable price is very difficult. I just pray that VC follows their "ridiculously cheap for the quality" business model and I can afford this product.

How it differs from the previous Sound Fx and Proscores... Need more practical application. Can I make now TRANSFORMERS Film.
    April 15th, 2014 @ 10:39 am
Pro scores is more about music, and designer sound FX is over 7 years old. This is modern and stylistic collection of killer sound FX for motion design. We're going to post more sound demos and tutorials for mixing as well.
JMS
April 15th, 2014 @ 10:30 am
Absolutely amazing...looks amazing too
April 15th, 2014 @ 10:31 am
Oh God yes.
OH GOD, YES!
April 15th, 2014 @ 10:32 am
Now Andrew,

I'm not trying to troll here, but I do want to ask a question about this pack.

A while back and still available in the store were designer sound effects. I bought this pack and found it to be greatly underwhelming when it came to the variety of sound effects that it provided. Some of them were campy and some of them really couldn't be used for any projects.

How does this pack differ from Designer SFX?

Would greatly appreciate it, thanks!
    April 15th, 2014 @ 10:37 am
Fair question! That product was made over 7 years ago, the styles have changed a lot and we have also got much better at mixing and processing. Plus we worked with several talented engineers to create the variety of sound FX. You won't be disappointed!
    Edwin
    April 16th, 2014 @ 11:28 pm
    Hey Wilmar and Andrew,
I purchased the Disigner Sound Effects too, a while back. I understand what you say. But what I did, and a suggestion to you, is using the "old" (and for that matter all sound libraries) sounds to layer them. And make them kind of unique and make them fit to your project.

Most of the times sounds don't want to stay alone. Sounds are kind of social beings ;-). Like with Andrew's effects in tutorials, they need to blend together. And especially with sounds, it needs to add the right emotion. If you hear a sound effect, you've not done it right. You must feel it, not hear it. The focus must be on the story you want to tell. And the right sound effects can help you with that.

And for visual effects not being cheesy... well, I am sure Mr. Andrew Kramer can make a page turn effect non-cheesy. I hear a challenge for you, Andrew! Hahaha!
April 15th, 2014 @ 10:33 am
Andrew can you do a tut on how you did the effects and stuff in the trailer? Some we know how do, some we don't. Just saying.
    Muhammed
    April 18th, 2014 @ 4:10 am
Yeah do us a tutorial specially about that last part( right before the VC logo) when the product logo(Motion Plus design tools)explodes in a distorted fashion.
April 15th, 2014 @ 10:34 am
Not only does the new product sound great, but if that trailer is made with Element 3D V2, I can't wait to get my hands on it. The displacement mapping feature alone would be worth the upgrade.
luis
April 15th, 2014 @ 10:51 am

Super super nice! But what about Element v2 or optical flare v2 or the new effect that creates video damages that you have been teasing us with…?
JasonVFX
April 15th, 2014 @ 11:03 am
Now this proves that Element 3D is that very powerful tool. But I don't think that we can do those epic shots rather than you Andrew! You're so good! With combination of this product, you rule the world of motion graphics! Love it especially the machine sounds, hopefully the price is not too much :)

How much will this goodness cost?!
April 15th, 2014 @ 12:32 pm
This trailer in all its audio and visual glory is overwhelmingly awesome in just every single bit! I watched the Krakatoa part several times and I am just speechless of your way to integrate it in motion design. The little smoke which puffs over the text, the transitions, the quality... I'm just "rendered speechless". I bow to the master and am looking forward to purchase this pack as I find everybody should!
Dude... you've come a long way! ;)
Alex
April 15th, 2014 @ 12:35 pm
Now Andrew,
This trailer contains some extraordinary Motion Design. Especially the title. Do you plan on releasing a tutorial or overview on the project?
Great video.

How did you do that with the particles emitting from the element 3d text at the end. That was so awesome. Please say it will be a tutorial on that title sequence. Will love to learn how to combine element 3d and particles like that.

Please for the love of god, will you make a tutorial on how to make that EPIC AS **** title reveal? Even if it involves FumeFX etc. that certainly deserves a tutorial!

This is an Awesome update!

Although I was hoping for Element 2, chopper pack, or a circuit board plug in to be next up for release.

April 15th, 2014 @ 2:06 pm
Andrew, Will you make a tutorial for something that appears in this video? Like the plasma explosion on title in the end of this video. Plase man, do it. Not for me but for everyone.

Sorry if I typed something wrong, I'm Brazilian and I down't know speak english very well.
April 15th, 2014 @ 2:13 pm
The visual effects for this teaser are amazing. I'm sure we would all love a tutorial on the mechanical tech and organic liquid FX.

BTW did I noticed some Element 2 features in the video?

Hey Andrew, I asked you this on Twitter too but I descided to double it up in case you missed it...

Could you maybe namedrop some of the people who worked on the audio in this pack? I'm looking for more info about the process behind how sounds like these are made :) I know alot of it, but especially the mechanical sounds are just a mystery to me.

April 15th, 2014 @ 5:11 pm
Andrew,

How does this compare to other products such as Boom Library? I have some of their products and I find them to be very high quality. Other then cost which I will bet I get better value from VCP, what the comparison in quality?

Thanks
Kevin

I hope this is a plugin, htat you apply to a layer, and can activate it with markers, ie: throw it on my planet, click on category (ie explosions) then place my marker where i want this thing to go bananas.

please tell me this is not a 2006 windows folder within folders within folders. eeeeek :(

Looks pretty impressive... sign me up! As for pricing, I'm guessing it'll be $99 at an absolute minimum, $199 at an absolute maximum... but somewhere between $129 and $149 is more realistic. I'd be happy to pay that anyway.

Good stuff!
    ShahabG
    April 16th, 2014 @ 5:16 am
    No, i reckon it'll be around $49
    LordEdington
    April 16th, 2014 @ 6:15 am
I'd be very surprised, but I guess your guess is as good as mine. But the way I see it... if the Designer Sound FX is seven years old, has 500 elements and is still $99, then I can't see a brand new product with 1000 elements being any less than $99. Time will tell though.
April 16th, 2014 @ 12:53 am
Sounds interesting.

I hope these sounds have some dynamic range and are not smashed down and disstorted as some effects seem to be, i.e. geared towards amateurs.

After all, you wouldn't want your layout sounds to be discarded by the sound editor or re-recording mixer.

Keep in mind that the current broadcast standards allow for more dynamic content, and a re-recording mixer should have the option to keeping a dynamic range of their choosing.

Any chance of a purchase depends on having that option. The trailer was probably not geared towards actual sound designers and mixers such as myself, but I sure hope the library is for than making motion designers feel good about their creations.

Looking forward to hearing more.

April 16th, 2014 @ 8:42 am
Always great to see a new product! Looking forward to hearing more from the audio collection.

Someday, I'm really hoping you guys will come out with your own particle system plugin as a competitor to trapcode. Would love to see your take on it, and drive those types of effects forward. Besides the recent addition of Plexus, I feel like particle system tools have been stagnant for way too long. (Much like lens flare tools were prior to the release of optical flares) We still don't have much in the way of GPU processing, particles that effect/collide with each other, bezier controls for values over time, 3D model support, different types of displacement modifiers, Collision/Gravity/Vortex/Attractor/Repulsor fields, quasi fluid/fire dynamics etc. If you're up for a challenge, there's a big need in the industry!

Shadows are definitely exciting, yet I'm more curious about the Element V2's Unified Render Engine. (With a 12 GB Titan Z, hopefully)
    Cheers :)

Hey Andrew, great work. Will you be doing a tutorial on how you created some of the visual effects in the video as well? I get how many of the 3D visuals were created, but the ethereal fire bursts and how it was wrapped around text still baffle me. Anyway, looking forward to seeing this product in action.

Love the idea, but was wondering if there will be a list of sound fx that will be included. The reason I ask is that I am already collecting a lot of sound files and want to make sure I'm not buying a lot of the same things I already have.

I'm sure the end products will be great. I look forward to seeing more.

April 17th, 2014 @ 7:15 am
Andrew,

I know everyone has been downplaying Designer FX, but I enjoy using it from time to time. My question is: In the image below the trailer was the sounds in Premiere Pro. I was was wondering if your tuts will include using Audition (or some other sound editing software)? I like Audition as you can see the video play while working on the sounds.

I usually only cut in Premiere Pro then use your script from Tut 117 (shout out to Andrew and the VC team)to bring it into AE. I also use another copy from Premiere to go into Audition for sound work. I'm really not sure if thats the correct workflow but it works for me right now. Maybe you can correct me if thats not the best way to work.

Thanks
    April 28th, 2014 @ 9:19 am
I have a similar workflow except I do all edits in After Effects and first I render a low quality low res vid and then I use that in Audition or Soundbooth to create the soundtrack. Then I save it, and import it into AE and drop it on the comp. Works best for me.

April 18th, 2014 @ 9:49 am
I find it quite surprising that there are people who would consider 1000 high quality sounds for $150 expensive. If you compare that with other sound effects packs, many of which aren't the same product quality VC is known for, you'll be looking at paying $200-$1000. You can find bigger packs for cheaper but if this pack is VC quality, as it probably will be, it will blow the other stuff out of the water by a great deal. In my opinion they should sell this pack for around $200(maybe even more), and for VC quality, it'd be worth it. As a university student I, of course, want products to be as cheap as possible, but I also understand the concept of paying for quality. VC do amazing work and I'm more than happy to support them by saving up to buy their products.
April 18th, 2014 @ 11:10 am
WOOHOO! FINALLY! Now I have a question, were most of those animations done in AE? I want to know how one would go about recreating the ball explosion for the subsonic part.

It's a great start, but there are some problems. Check out how the particles interact with the text in the original video and you are using additive mode for rendering, right? Don't do that, you lose a lot of control.
    wrapthereal
    April 18th, 2014 @ 3:42 pm
thanks for your response ! yep i use additive mode ! i will try a seconde test ! :)

Looks amazing!

Andrew, I see some very nice models and moving 3D elements in this promo; blobs and liquids, transforming parts.

What program did you use to create these elements and did you use Element 3D to bring them into AE? I'm learning VFX and modeling on my own, so this information would be greatly appreciated.
    April 19th, 2014 @ 6:33 am
I'm guessing it was all done in After Effects using E3D and 3ds Max with plugins like FumeFX and Rayfire and maybe some others.

Man, I've never doubt it..., but you really kick ass.
This presentation is sick.
April 19th, 2014 @ 12:15 pm
Well, I'm sure the new sounds pack is huge and amazing, but... this motion graphics video is the best motion graphics video you've ever done so far, Andrew. At this moment, I'm more interested in a few tutorials about that...

It seems like you've used Element v2 for these clips, right? It's too powerful for Element v1. And, if that's true, maybe we'll have to wait until the Element v2 launch for watching some tutorials about this video. Dammed. I can't wait that much!!! Please, please, make an early tut...

Anyway, the new sounds pack looks amazing, congratulations. I still using Designer Sound FX as much as possible in videos like this, and I find it really useful:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_ebST5fyX0

I'd loved to have this new pack for making the sounds of this!

Jan Novak
April 20th, 2014 @ 2:10 am
1) the sound design is pretty damn good!
2) is the fog at the end of the video created in 3dsMax or in the new Element 2? Also, it interacts with the text so.. Maybe the Element 2 will have the collision system?
3) the new unanounced Visual Distortion plugin with the VHS effect, chromatic ab. and digital green squares looks good too!

Way to go, andrew :)
    Jan Novak
    April 20th, 2014 @ 3:18 am
    P.S.

a small idea from total noob in 3D graphics. I noticed that it's pretty easy to make an extruded 3D model from shape in Element3D, and then use all the Element3D power to refine the edges, add detail and stuff.

Wouldn't it be lovely to be able to export an OBJ from Element3D? It's a lot easier than to make 3D in 3DsMax.
    April 22nd, 2014 @ 10:05 pm
Jan, there wouldn't be much point in making an OBJ exporter from Element, as the whole purpose of the plugin is to give you realtime (or near-realtime) 3D visualizations. Rendering from a 3D program takes longer, (sometimes this is necessary as there are things Element is not meant for), so to go the route you suggested would be kinda backward.

However, you can IMPORT .OBJ files into Element, so if you build something in Max, you can bring it in and manipulate it in After Effects, possibly saving you a tin of render time.

    And, FWIW C4D > 3DS ;)

What file type are the SFX?

Ex: .wav, .mp3, etc.
    Kyle
    April 23rd, 2014 @ 8:07 am
Probably wav files. Editors like Final Cut Pro hate mp3 files and they suck anyway. Wav is uncompressed and better quality.

But one thing, as a beginner ... Which is the best product for me ? Or if i buy all of pro scores and designer sound fx and this will be the best thing for me or what ?
April 27th, 2014 @ 1:28 pm
hey andrew, Good work brother.
the product is amazing, i recomend you to take a looka at PURITY
this is a VST plugin for sound, in this plugin youcan link 1 sound to another, so if someone have the designer SFX package he can load the sounds in the softiware and do some linking to the other build inn sounds. add for controls as possible plz, i sugest u to look at this plugin because i it gives out something that would be usefull to motion designers, except you cant import inn a video file.take a look.
good day brother.

I was just thinking I would like better sound effects. Especially longer low rumble bass sounds. This swas exactly what I had in mind, amazing.

However,I too bought designer SFX and found that those sounds were popping up everywhere! You have a huge impact on the VFX community seems like your stuff is in everything from bad youtube vids to prime time commercials and everywhere in between.

I'd love a product like this if I can adjust all the perimeters like length, key, pitch, tempo and any other way to make unique sounds…. Sort of like optical flares for sound effects.
lazarus
May 4th, 2014 @ 5:46 am
agree with Tom, something customizable will be best. But the VCP crew are such a wonderful people you can expect to see the Motion Pulse Plugin with even robust perimeters for serious tweaking in no distant time. and the optical flares for sound effects WAW! wont say anything yet. [GOOD Work GUYS!]
