Simple Car Rig in Element 3D!

Watch in HD on Youtube!

Here is a sample video for a simple car rig system using Element 3D. With this system you can animate the steering and suspension with a quick setup. Then stay tuned for a more advanced rig later this month!

Btw, these shadows are not real, I just used a black solid with some feathered masking. Although here is a sneak peak at Shadows in Element 3D: V2 these are real shadows.

Intel? Since when does Intel make graphics cards? I'm using an Intel processor and it works fine. You're not talking about that HD 4000 stuff, are you? That's usually not very quick/powerful, especially for something like this.

Oh God as well!Thank you Andrew! Now already I almost never need 3 d max! element 3d perhaps the best plug-in for work with models! I have been looking for different plug-ins to the 3 d max?well if this will replace the Craft direct studio! This is a very well-no need now render and sequences of 3d max! Now you need to AE,element 3d, and just a model! you can easily do a realistic and photorealistic video!thanks Andrew waiting for the lesson in the animation! And so it would be desirable to build a great and realistic scenes! THANK you

Raytraced shadows, refraction etc are really intensive functions in real time.

I think they will do the best they can, and keep tricking out Element3d, but stop with the 1000-question comments please :')

That's mad! Videocopilot should stop messing around and just license this technology. Of course if Adobe was smart they would just buy them out and implement in AE natively and kill the competition!

So seconded! That would be brilliant to include Octane in After Effects!

April 8th, 2013 @ 10:50 am
Impressive as usual.
Hey guys, Andrew helps a lot behind in improving this plugin, he advises his programmers to push hard paying attention to hardware and limitations of AE. But some wants to turn AE+3D Element into a real 3D software. If ever this happens one day, I think all will need to buy more powerful machines for work. 3D software needs lots of resources. Don't blame Andrew for that!!!
We should be happy what we are getting compared to the 1st version of Element3D that was released.

Hi Andrew,
Love the shadow tech preview! I can not wait! Could you do a short video on your blog showing us your team behind Element and other plugins so we can see the hard working folks that help bring your brilliant visions to life?

When element gets real shadows it will be game over.

The C4d integration in AE looks interesting but in all the demos I've seen so far show that if they want to move the camera with the c4d scene in it, it has to be in like wireframe mode for it not to take forever. That is a non starter for me. Element 3d v2 will have animated OBJ import, real shadows, (plus other surprises I'm sure) automatic texture import, why would I need Cineware anyway?

So it's a huge milestone that you have written your own OpenGL renderer, but I have noticed lately in some of the new game engine demos, that developers are doing real-time reflections, refractions, and other computationally expensive rendering techniques on the GPU. Any plans to push Element in this direction?

Perhaps in the video introducing us to your team you could compile a few questions from the comments on this blog and answer them on the video. I think it's safe to say that your customers are also fans and you are building quite a bit real brand loyalty, which is very hard from most companies and products to do, but seems to be effortless for you :-)

Thanks for all your hard work and we look forward to the future.

3d geometry of element 3d?

if is posible can you make a toturial how can we do it

    yes!
A one click button for "camapping the selected geometry", for multiplan matte painting for instance.
(The actual pseudo camera mapping function is too boring ans painfull to apply)

April 11th, 2013 @ 11:57 am
I knew it! This shadows look amazing, congrats, guys. I hope there will be any kind of feathering options for them.

And, about animating in Element 3D, there are tons of possibilities. I'm just making a corporate video for Audi animating an engine and I love the results until now. You can combine keyframes to the displace options with the so called "animation engine" for awesome results!!!

The only problem I have is the same as always: the Ambient Occlusion. With a value higher to "1" in the intensity, there's a loooot of clipping. Dammed. And the multisampling options are not a solution. Please, Andrew, solve this issue in future actualizations or in the V2 Element...

Very impressive. The word "simple" in the title is a little misleading for us amateurs. I'm proficient at AE CS6 and Element 3D but 3D Max and 3D models intimidate me. I truly appreciate each tutorial, but having project files is nice.
