Whoow...great as always...
    August 9th, 2011 @ 10:14 pm

    3. CHI CHI CHI CHIA!!!!
    August 10th, 2011 @ 9:53 pm
The fur coat the actor was wearing is actually made from Andrew Kramer beard!
August 8th, 2011 @ 11:12 am
What plug-in did you use for that beard? :D Haha
    August 8th, 2011 @ 1:34 pm
It's there new plugin "Optical Beards" coming out this fall, internet's a'buzz about it. lol :D
    August 8th, 2011 @ 4:05 pm
Damn you sir... i just spat tea all over my laptop reading that :)
    August 8th, 2011 @ 5:14 pm
It's way better than its predecessor, "Knoll Beard Factory".
    August 8th, 2011 @ 6:03 pm
    Optical Beards....LOL!
    August 8th, 2011 @ 7:18 pm
    @Adam. I am with Simon.
    August 8th, 2011 @ 10:58 pm
Lmfao!.. shiny beards :D chocked laughing.. lol.
    August 8th, 2011 @ 11:40 pm
I think almost everyone of us were surprised with that beard, it looks cool by the way. It added more age to Andrew :)
    August 9th, 2011 @ 2:02 am
    The beard suits you!
    August 9th, 2011 @ 5:38 am
    Funny, indeed! :D
But I think, as all of you probably did, that he builded his little set there, with the REAL beard still on his face. Then he shaved, builded the wall of bricks again, and shot the actual first sequence of this part of the video.

Wow, what a long explanation for such an obvious thing. But somehow, I wanted to state that clear! :D

    Greatings from Germany! :)
    August 9th, 2011 @ 8:18 am
also the new pro beards and 3d beard tracker
    August 9th, 2011 @ 8:29 am
OK the comment was funny but all the rest are just over kill
    August 9th, 2011 @ 10:02 am
I'm pretty sure they used: Action Beard Essentials. Or maybe Riot Beard.
    August 9th, 2011 @ 10:05 am
BUT! It could also be Red Giant's new plugin called Magic Beard Looks.
    August 9th, 2011 @ 5:42 pm
Hey, I want one of those optical beards too! xD
    August 10th, 2011 @ 8:45 am
I know! they used Trapcode Beardticular 2.0, with faster rendering and more funtionnality!
August 8th, 2011 @ 11:12 am
can't wait! tuts also? extensive use of element?
    Sebastiano Genna
    August 8th, 2011 @ 12:15 pm
I think we ALL would really like so, but I sincerely doubt it (for the use of element, i mena),
Btw Kubrixbeard has lighten up a quite interesting point: when will the new tutorial be online? Is there something in program?
    August 8th, 2011 @ 12:35 pm
I'd love to see another dvd like the bullet, only this time about compositing live-action over cg sets.Blender's new builds are so much more user friendly these days since the bullet
    August 8th, 2011 @ 12:39 pm
Also Andrew....was all compositing done in AE? You mentioned in another post that you'd been doing some work with Nuke...
    August 9th, 2011 @ 10:04 am
More tuts on Blender?? that would be Awesome!
    August 9th, 2011 @ 11:36 am

August 8th, 2011 @ 11:18 am
How long did it take you to build with those bricks?! You go from silky smooth to looking like Paul Bunyon in five seconds.
    August 8th, 2011 @ 12:23 pm
    Agreed! Hilarious though!
    August 8th, 2011 @ 12:28 pm

    August 8th, 2011 @ 12:59 pm

    August 8th, 2011 @ 9:21 pm

    August 9th, 2011 @ 11:56 am
I hope you were drinking milk and it wasn't nose lactation. If your weren't drinking milk please see a Dr. soon as this could be a sign of hormonal imbalance. Take care.
Vida Andrew
August 8th, 2011 @ 11:43 am
I was amazed when I saw the scene lighting made in 3ds max! please, can you show us Andrew, or just describe how did you achieve this great look?

The only problem with 3ds max is that.. it needs a week of rendering for quality stuff.
August 8th, 2011 @ 11:45 am
I hope your servers are ready for all the traffic you'll be receiving tomorrow. There are a lot of us, and we've been looking forward to this video more than anything being released in theaters :)

when is Element 3-D going to be released?
August 8th, 2011 @ 1:36 pm
The whole thing isnt about an orb at all, its for VCP's new hair and fur plug in for AE, why else would he spend so much time talking about the cat fur coat, or that sexy post production beard that he grew in no time flat.
August 8th, 2011 @ 2:00 pm
Andrew amazing u r the best
August 8th, 2011 @ 2:10 pm

Adrien Folly
August 8th, 2011 @ 2:48 pm
By the time I was waiting for this! It looks really good. I just have one question concerning the 3D input: I've already tried this technique, but it took me a while to render (2 days for ~30 sec.) and if I decrease the details (polys) the quality becomes kind of cra*py. Just wanted to know the good balance between quantity of polys and rendering time.

I guess that you're pretty busy and you probably won't have reply, so if anyone else can answer me I would be grateful.

btw, I loved the beard! :)

Ps: sorry for my bad english, I'm from Switzerland..
    August 9th, 2011 @ 8:43 am
You are from Switzerland and you're good one ))))) everything depends on your machine. The better the faster.
August 8th, 2011 @ 2:57 pm
Is this anything like the orb in 'Heavy Metal'? You know, the one that kills people when they touch it?
Some Guy
August 8th, 2011 @ 2:58 pm

Some pretty Actors in this. Especially the bald head wearing the cat fur ;)
August 8th, 2011 @ 3:46 pm
Hi, great job. Andrew could you please post a basic series tutorial on 3ds max? I think that will be great
August 8th, 2011 @ 4:08 pm
This going to great! Nice beard by the way, too bad you cut it off. Probably the wife’s request.
August 8th, 2011 @ 4:30 pm
Wouldn't you want the orb (or background) to be blue, wouldn't that make it a hell of a lot easier to chroma key?
August 8th, 2011 @ 4:32 pm
Awesome vid. Nice withe beard trick. Still trying to figure out how you did it. I doubt you waited for it to grow and then just dressed the same. lol. Anywho, i'm goin' through Tutorial Withdrawl here! I needs my fix!
August 8th, 2011 @ 4:50 pm
i figured it out.(the beard thing) Or atleast i know what i would've done. I noticed that shave was kinda fresh, as opposed to the stubble you have at the beginning of the video. I'm think you shot the bearded part first then shaved and shot the first part. As for the bricks. They were already arranged on the floor when you had the beard and you simply piled them up and rewound the footage. HAHA!(evil laugh) you thought you had me.
August 8th, 2011 @ 4:56 pm
Question. The Bazooka gum, did they sponsor the film hence product placement or is that the secret 'element' to your work?
apple boy
August 8th, 2011 @ 5:07 pm
Wahaha...! nice beard take. It looks good on you though, can you make a tutorial of that.. Ha ha... Can't stop laughing.. hahhaha... :) tnx AK
August 8th, 2011 @ 5:33 pm
Our whole team can't wait! We've watched this short post about 100 times looking at everything trying to figure out what you are going to show - "OH look see that is a motion tracking point for the CG set to pin to" - "OH OH see where they extended the mighty set a few bricks farther past the end of the scene!"

Yeah man this is EPIC for us who have learned so much from the people's champion - Andrew :)

- Dax (Creator of DM)
August 8th, 2011 @ 5:53 pm

Great! BTW..nice beard. lol
August 8th, 2011 @ 8:29 pm
All nice and dandy, one question though: How did you track your face to make the beard? I mean, that's clearly created with like jpgs or a particle system based on 1 hair, right? :)

Nice work, looking forward to it.
August 8th, 2011 @ 8:34 pm
Super Sir...

I'm so excited! BTW: You look good in the beard!
August 9th, 2011 @ 12:48 am
Very daring. This needs quite a follow-up actual promo. Weren't you aware the behind-the-scenes might outdo the end-result?
August 9th, 2011 @ 1:23 am
i wonder what kind of tutorial will he make for Optical Beards... :-D

I laughed my ass off to that beard joke. Literally, I can't find my ass anywhere.
August 9th, 2011 @ 1:49 am
If your career in motion graphics doesnt give you all you want from it, at least you have a stone wall and patio trade to fall back on! Seriously very talented, although i think people should praise your team a bit more tho!!
August 9th, 2011 @ 1:54 am
UGH!?!?! FINALLY Andrew lol... It's about time brah... I've been waiting for months for you to finish. Lets see produce of all your hard work!! And bring back the tutorials :D.... Blessings always brah

August 9th, 2011 @ 4:56 am
Sweet! Thanks for showing the cardboard and light thing. Sometimes we think we have to spend a lot of money to make things look good when we could be saving our hard-earned dollars to buy VC plugins! ;)
August 9th, 2011 @ 5:02 am
excelent Andrew!
August 9th, 2011 @ 5:09 am
I was actually gonna say that the beard looked good. Go with it.
August 9th, 2011 @ 5:21 am
oh dear beard man its tomorrow now here :o)
August 9th, 2011 @ 5:22 am
Wow, really good stuff. Better VFX than some of the blockbusters of the past year. Exceptional how Andrew and everybody at VideoCopilot (give us a digital tour Andrew!!!) keep 2d VFX alive. A lot of films use 3d, and it looks obvious, but some of the work from VC is hard to label as 'fake'.

Can't wait!
Bader Ahmed
August 9th, 2011 @ 5:27 am

August 9th, 2011 @ 7:09 am
Got uh feeling the ticketline is going to be long for this one.
August 9th, 2011 @ 7:10 am
HAHAHHAHHAHHAH the funny part is that when you putting those bricks in place, you got beard instantly? Do you do that in purpose? for how many days you did not shave just to make those funny clip for promo? ahahhahha :P :P
    August 9th, 2011 @ 12:54 pm

Sorry for my english,: I have never seen such professionalism at once! Anyway, I've never seen awesome short film to promote an iPhone application. Impeccable visual quality, visual effects and beautiful actresses worthy of the high production of Hollywood. I say again, you deserve to be in the cinema world!
August 11th, 2011 @ 4:12 am

Where did you get that ball to make an orb? I'd like to make something similar and was playing with the idea that I could get some green ball unfortunatelly I did not know it's actual selling until now.

I presume you did not make it by yourself, did you?
August 11th, 2011 @ 12:23 pm
