In another test using Action Essentials 2, I combined two wispy smoke clips to create a fluid transition for this title. After building this comp I realized there were some key tips for randomizing the particles so that the viewer would not know that only 2 clips were used. So I recorded a quick 20-minute tutorial that should be online this week.
Now remember if you see green smoke, ABORT!

I like it! 2 clips only?:O
I fel like your just building the tension with all these little tutorials while people wait for the big one!!!!
But it still looks cool!!!!!!!
This reminds me of a Harry Potter Title. I love the slight warp as the letters comes on and the lighting making it seem more ominous. For some reason it remind of the Ink effect in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (1:15)

Hi Andrew,
Just a couple of questions. What happened to the Action Essentials 2 short, quickmatte, and the payment plan tutorial? Great site, but just wondering what happened concerning these things….
Thanks,
Cam
The Rock is the greatest movie ever!
Cool! A new tutorial!
@B$RR1X: I think that we should be glad that he makes tutorials, so what if something is a bit delayed ? We should all be glad that Videocopilot makes awesome tutorials and show them for free. If Andrew gets many more reactions like yours….who knows then maybe he says goodbye for making tutorials
Or maybe we wont be able to give comments anymore on his blog articles.

If you look at the 1:35 mark in the video, you can still see the wire rig they used on set to hang Nicholas Cage. Its like a couple frames, so don’t blink

hi there, newbie here
Say if you want to create your own smoke, how do one key this out to use it in the shot without looking like a bad 1980′s movie.
It’s too late, he already dropped them.
