New Feature for Video Player

Our tutorial video player now allows dynamic scrubbing. Basically you can skip to any part of the tutorial without having to download the entire video first.

  • Re-watch specific parts or tips quicker
  • Skip over bad (but hilarious) jokes
  • Watch tutorials in chunks and skip ahead on demand
  • Skip over tutorial info and listen to only jokes

Give it a try

Another thing we are working on is the ability to catalog chapter points for easier reference and tracking of in-depth tutorials.

June 15th, 2010 @ 10:13 pm
This is nice Andrew...
June 15th, 2010 @ 10:15 pm
Ahhhh thank you.
June 15th, 2010 @ 10:15 pm
Awesome but I like listening to your jokes as much as learning new stuff
June 15th, 2010 @ 10:16 pm
exelent, but i don't find it XD
June 15th, 2010 @ 10:18 pm
Oh awesome I've always wanted this feature but was too afraid to ask :P
June 15th, 2010 @ 10:23 pm
That's nifty. I've been wondering why that feature hasn't been on this site's players. This makes it less annoying to go back and re-watch things that I might have missed or forgotten. Glad to see it fixed :)
June 15th, 2010 @ 10:23 pm
This is great but I thought it also meant it was easier to scrub through the timeline and see the video update, instead of having to click around the timeline trying to find the spot we wanted :)
June 15th, 2010 @ 10:27 pm
this is a feature long awaited! thanks so much for all you do

My happiness cannot be contained in this sentence.
June 15th, 2010 @ 11:52 pm
very thoughtfull.
June 15th, 2010 @ 10:58 pm
Now why on earth would we wanna skip over anything that you say Andrew. Your jokes are as funny as your tutorials are informative. Nice feature though about no reloading of the video to rewatch specific parts. Nice update, thank you.
June 16th, 2010 @ 12:02 am
Oh LORD I've been waiting for this feature for so long now. Sooo nice for re-watching a specific sequence.

Go Video Copilot! Go Andrew Kramer!

June 16th, 2010 @ 12:47 am
Fantastic - I like to watch the whole thing as each tutorial is launched but when I have time to actually follow the tutorial then this feature will help a great deal in skipping to the parts I want to refresh my mind with.

Often I adapt parts of your tutorial to use in my own projects so being able to skip to the bits of interest makes it a lot easier.

I know there has been several times I have accidentally hit the play button instead of the pause button and had to wait until the entire tutorial has reloaded from scratch.

So thank you for this feature :D

June 16th, 2010 @ 12:54 am
Awesome, now if I just didn't have to open 6 windows to launch the actual tutorial that would be something!

JK I love you man.
June 16th, 2010 @ 1:00 am
HA HA man don't U beat all, U do everything, Thanks. I realy wanted this feature!!!!! :)
June 16th, 2010 @ 1:48 am
I'd like a "Jokes Only" option as well
June 16th, 2010 @ 2:11 am
Finally...VC team is the best...over all,

June 16th, 2010 @ 2:30 am
Thanx AK, very much'O' appreciated

Now to just get it to play without a flash playa:O so we can view it on the IPAD

June 16th, 2010 @ 2:40 am
I'll finally be able to have a "best-of" Andrew Kramer's joke. Truely awesome (just like the entire website indeed).

Very good move Andrew. As always
June 16th, 2010 @ 2:55 am
Don't worry: the jokes aren't that bad. :) But a very handy new feature indeed. It will certainly speed up the process while I'm trying to rebuild a tutorial-effect. Keep up the good work. Wonderfull community.
June 16th, 2010 @ 3:01 am
To me things were ok ... but if you wanna make it better ...

Thanks =)
June 16th, 2010 @ 3:22 am

June 16th, 2010 @ 4:08 am
Actually.. This is so nice^^
June 16th, 2010 @ 4:12 am
The humour was the thing that got me hooked on Andrew in the first place when I found his sky replacement tutorial at creative cow. That passion for his craft just oozes from him. Love your generous nature for sharing your skills Andrew and keep the jokes coming =)
June 16th, 2010 @ 4:36 am
I like your jokes. You should tell us more.
Nice Job, i was waiting for this functionnality.
June 16th, 2010 @ 4:39 am

June 16th, 2010 @ 4:40 am

Thank you Andrew
June 16th, 2010 @ 5:56 am
Awesome. Totally like this player.
June 16th, 2010 @ 6:12 am
that's just what I needed! I usually make your tutorials in 2 or 3 parts so now I don't have to wait anymore till my video is loaded :)
June 16th, 2010 @ 6:50 am
Great! That means I can repeat the jokes until the end of time!
June 16th, 2010 @ 7:16 am
Man you just can't stop getting better, can you? Really helpful when I need to go back to a tutorial for a specific part and not having to reload the whole thing. Then again who in their sane mind would wanna skip anything you say, specially the jokes. Thanks for sharing you knowledge with us.

June 16th, 2010 @ 9:56 am
now i'd write a ton of stupid stuff here, but since you "are trying to encourage more thoughtful commenting", i'll simply repeat after everyone else: now really if there's 2 guys saysing your jokes are annoying, they aren't to everyone, right? and btw, just like you said here: stupid but hilarious after all. keep it coming, a. k.
June 16th, 2010 @ 10:01 am
Thanks Andrew For This Idea . Very Nice

June 16th, 2010 @ 11:17 am
Top Stuff

Waiting for the videos to load was a pain.
June 16th, 2010 @ 11:31 am
Just curious: was this a difficult thing to implement? Did you need to change all the streams or just the player?
June 16th, 2010 @ 12:39 pm
I cant find the function, event tried CTRL+f5, i have the newsest flash player, using Firefox. Help, anyone?
June 16th, 2010 @ 12:41 pm
In NO WAY will I skip over the jokes. It's an added feature for the already amazing tutorials.
June 16th, 2010 @ 12:45 pm

June 16th, 2010 @ 4:32 pm
Awesome job with this new feature!!! Love it, especially in the tuts. Only thing is, don't know why it doesn't work with the blog show and such. :) keep it up!

William R. Cousert
June 16th, 2010 @ 7:45 pm
Incredibly good and useful too. Thanks!
June 16th, 2010 @ 9:26 pm
Sweet. Now I can fast forward to my favorite jokes, without having to listen to all that tutorial stuff.
June 17th, 2010 @ 1:00 am
V.useful feature - thanks. Do you think you could also add a bookmark feature so we can bookmark bits we know we will use in the future? This may mean we need to log into the site, but that's a small price to play. Just an idea ...
June 17th, 2010 @ 5:05 am
I've been waiting for this :p . Especially when I used to have a very slow 2mb internet connection. I had to wait for 15 minutes to get to the end of a tutorial that I hadn't got enough time to watch through the day before.
June 17th, 2010 @ 5:48 am
I love you man! Why we love you??? because you care about us!!!!!!! YAhoooo, the idea is so awsome!
June 17th, 2010 @ 7:46 am
Thank you so much,I've allways wanted that..
June 17th, 2010 @ 8:25 am

June 17th, 2010 @ 12:37 pm
It's very helpfull when you were watching a tutorial, and suddenly you close the window by mistake, and you had to watch it all over again...
Now, we can skip till the point we were watching!
Dan Rosario
June 17th, 2010 @ 2:04 pm
You're jokes and personality truly make learning from your tutorials fun and easy. I appreciate your sense of humor and cannot thank you enough for all I've learned watching the tuts. Make more products so I can buy more.

Totally pro, as usual. Quality, great tuts & humor. This site is a blessing.
June 17th, 2010 @ 3:28 pm
Cool, at last :)
June 17th, 2010 @ 4:47 pm
At last) I always wondered - why there is no such feature. Its pretty simple for flash video players..
June 17th, 2010 @ 9:41 pm
"Skip over tutorial info and listen to only jokes."

June 18th, 2010 @ 1:08 am
which program you upload the tutorials. I use Swish Video.
June 18th, 2010 @ 2:16 am
Can you please tell me how you did that?the skip to what part you want..I tried to my server but I really don't know why it's not working..the videos must have something or the server is made for streaming?
June 18th, 2010 @ 2:50 am
Magical! Just what was missing! Cheers Andrew!
June 18th, 2010 @ 10:35 am

Justin Melson
June 20th, 2010 @ 4:43 pm
NOOOOO, it backfired now I have to watch it straight through.
For example I want to see something at the end of the tutorial it have to watch the whole thing through.
June 20th, 2010 @ 10:06 pm
one of the reason for watching yr tutorial is for that bad but hilarious jokes..
June 22nd, 2010 @ 4:56 am
Oh men! Thank you!
June 22nd, 2010 @ 4:59 am
100 comments yay!!!
June 23rd, 2010 @ 6:33 am
Chapters function is useful like the rev3 one.
Also some rev3 fans don't catch some phrases... but I say:
"it's not Oprah! Learn the basics & watch the screen!" so please... DON'T INCLUDE TRANSCRIPTS (^___^)
June 25th, 2010 @ 12:40 am
That's great, thank you.

Now I can replay those bits that I am too slow to absorb in the first instance as well as being able to replay the jokes over and over too!
August 7th, 2010 @ 8:48 am
Hi, AK

Thanx AK, very much appreciated
August 8th, 2010 @ 2:24 pm
Hey Andrew, Im not sure if you have noticed this. But this feature doesnt work anymore. Atleast not for me.

Could you please look into this?

Many Thanks and Best Wishes,
December 4th, 2010 @ 7:24 am
This isn't working on all the tuts. I've been trying to get through "Soul Removal" for about 3 days. I have to keep starting the tut over! Not only does my footage look like it's soul is being removed, but I feel like a piece of my own soul is being removed every time I have to start over! LOL

Thanks for all you do!
