The Future

I’m finishing up some work on my 3D ledge presentation and more ideas came to mind (after watching The 5th Element) and I wanted to include some tips for possibly creating a futuristic scene as well. We’re going to have a busy couple of weeks ahead including the Shatter tutorial coming out on Monday and this 3D Ledge soon after. Stay tuned and have your multi-pass ready!

March 28th, 2010 @ 8:03 pm

March 28th, 2010 @ 8:48 pm
If you see an UFO and you film it, you can't post it here, because nobody will believe you, they woul think it's fake, but it's not, i see a big problem there.
March 28th, 2010 @ 8:50 pm
very cool, I like seeing the behind the scenes at the copilot studio. It really helps me to see how a professional project is set up.

Best wishes from San Luis Obispo, CA.

March 28th, 2010 @ 10:03 pm
Funny you should bring up 5th Element, because it's the first thing I thought of after seeing your presentation at DMA/LA. You thinking multi-depth cars/traffic?

the first time she steps out on the ledge, i got goosebumps when they reveal the city. did you know that Milla Jovovich plays the lady that takes the tickets? she's actually giving herself a multipass. look at the facial features, it's her.
March 28th, 2010 @ 9:30 pm

Awesome! I knew you were working on something great!
Jus Sayin
March 29th, 2010 @ 9:05 am
Awesome! I cannot wait for either of those tutorials!

By the way, not to be an annoying jerk, but you had a little typo in your blog "...have a busy couple of week ahead..." I'm pretty sure you meant "weeks."

But anyway, keep up the good work!!!
March 29th, 2010 @ 9:38 am
I have beeen wondering why it's been taking you so long to post the ledge tutorial. I even posted a "Moan" on the last blog about what's taking you so long which never got posted. But now, when you explain why "OMG" That looks so !BRILLIANT! and now i cant wait even longer. It's killing me now lol, i cant beleive i'm going to be able to create this on my pc through your brilliant tutorials. Thank You "SO MUCH" Andrew. You are a MASSIVE insperation to me as much as a Film Star. Thanks from the UK.
March 29th, 2010 @ 9:39 am
Thanks man, glad to know you're paying attention and not skipping that one shatter tutorial :D

as always, I'm still grateful for what I get. Beggars can't be choosers ALL the time.
March 29th, 2010 @ 10:34 am
I'm a little curious as to why you chose to use 3d cars on the street below. For me, the shot just doesn't sell without them.

The distance between the subject and the cars is far enough away that even a fixed camera position (to record the cars) would be sufficient.

Anyway, looks great either way. But as always, there is room for improvement. :)
March 29th, 2010 @ 11:15 am
This is nice! Can't wait :)
March 29th, 2010 @ 12:00 pm

It looks interesting Andrew...Where it will be ready??
From Armenia
March 30th, 2010 @ 1:22 pm
Hey Andrew,

Two questions. Did I see a 7D mounted on your jib? Second, what lens did you use and how did you make your dolly/jib? Was it homemade or did you buy the rig? Just created my own dolly out of rollerblade wheels, PVC pipe and some plywood and was curious!

March 30th, 2010 @ 3:26 pm
I think I'm missing something. 32 seconds in to your presentation, "BBQ" flashes over the grill. I watched it 5 more times to see if I missed other words somewhere else in the video that would make it make sense. Nothing. Why the need to point out that there was a grill in the corner?
March 30th, 2010 @ 5:41 pm
March 30th, 2010 @ 6:40 pm
