Working in LA this week

Just want to let you know that I’ll be in LA this week, working on an exciting project but I hope to also shoot some footage for another upcoming tutorial while I’m there. I’ll probably be away from the computer for most of the trip but I’m working on project that will hopefully push my limits to reach new horizons just as I encourage everyone to do as often as possible. This is the only way to get better!

I’ll try to blog when I can, where I can.

Hey Andrew, I know your busy but I managed to find something interesting. I found a blog from someone who he seemed to mention you quite a bit and act like you agreed with him, which I'm certain you don't. Anyways, just something you might want to check out and leave a comment if you have a second, I'm sure it would be an eye opener for him.

Hey Andrew. Sounds like everyone here does not live in LA. I just moved here 3 weeks ago and I have been checking our your free tutorials for over a year. Maybe even 2. I feel I owe you for the wealth of knowledge that you have kindly shared with me and everyone else that stumbles over your stuff (the guys that create the graphics for WEC).

Anyway, can I take you out to lunch or something? I can take you to "pinks" if you like. Hit me back when you get a chance.

Hi Andrew,

Is this project related to any kind of new upcoming FX movie?

I would be looking forward for you BLOG show of this project.

Can you guide me how exactly this video was made? Here is a link of it: http://www.dexigner.com/design_news/troika-design-group-launches-so-fox-brand-campaign.html

Please do reply.

Take care and have a good trip.

have a nice trip, enjoy life, have fun! :)
November 10th, 2009 @ 6:10 am
We all whish You to bend/brake the boundaries of VFX knowledge again. Im only for a 2 weeks now in AE and your tutorials totally opened this software for me-big hug for you.I also officially promise to support your products from the first money I will earn on my knowledge with AE.

Mudi: I think there is more Trapcode FORM in this dancer video- you can make a precomp of a dancing lady and use it as a Color,Displacement,Opacity,Disperse maps for your particles. They also used it for T3:Salvation (WB logo and some "robot vision" visuals). As for Particular 2.0 you get way alot more controllers to tweak than 1.5- for example to get to "Affect Position" controller we all adore you have to open Physics -> Air -> Turbulence Field (you also get nice Spherical Field menu with tweaks as well).

with best regards to videcopilot and site community from Poland :)
November 10th, 2009 @ 6:22 am
Guys, kmon. Think about it for a second. Andrew is going to work on 2012, because wherever he goes, destruction follows. The meteor, sam getting electrocuted, horrible things happen when Andrew's around. :D

It would be funny if the the mysterious project was really Andrew's wife making him go somewhere to pick out new curtains (or something like that).

You know would would be a great AE tutorial? A view inside a man's head of what's going on while a wife is talking (blah blah blah blah... and then she took my stapler! blah blah blah blah...).

@Remington M

I've just read the blog you pointed to and I left a comment alright. I'm getting really tired of this "Professionals vs the other lot" mentality and decided to put THIS particular professional in his place. I won't go into detail here but if your interested, go check out my comment, if of course it gets posted... Moderation (a way of making your views known and making sure nobody gets to disagree with you, too often) should have added that one I guess.

Anyhow have a great time in LA Andrew and I'm sure what ever your working will as always be Professional. :)

My guess is Andrew and the crew are going to meet with someone semi-famous and shoot a tutorial with "them". Or meet with a symphonic orchestra.

That, or a laser nunchuck fight tutorial, in which the fighters wear some sort of protective gloves, but smoke comes out anyways cause the laser is slowly burning through the gloves.

Andrew Here is a Comment from Bogota Colombia.
Your tutorials, your web pages are amazing without your help we havent had done so many projects. Thanks to share all this knoledge.

I want to make you a question, I´ve been having problems removing tracking marks with my greens screen or live footage and if the the live footage are camera movements are harder. Provablly if you can show something how to fix it with AE will be a good help.

thanks a lot for all your help.

Hello Andrew Sir,
I am a disabled from Nepal. Here in my country i had always found it difficult to work on any field because of wheelchair accessible problem. Our country is a poor one so i hasnt been able to maintain wheelchair access facility in all of the sectors. I had always had an interest in motion graphics work and my disability made it compulsion to work only on this field because working on visual effects didnt need to many movement problem. So I was working as a motion graphics artist in Nepal. And your tutorials have been always a help for my visual works. so i am just writing to say you thank you.

Whatever you are working on, you will be very success because my prayers are with you. Take care.

Yours,
Sagar

Andrew, I hope you made the opening graphic for one of Leno's segments last night "Penelope Cruz". If you didn't, someone just downloaded your 90. Ancient Titles project and just changed the text. Maybe that's what you're doing in lala land?

Good luck with the trip. I can't wait to find out what it's for. And thank you so much for all the info you have provided here. I read the post that Remington M mentioned ans I was pretty appalled. Singling you out was really unprofessional. I don't really care why you made this site, be it to make money, or because you really want to help people. This site is awesome. I've always been more of just a graphic designer. My girlfriend does a lot of motion graphics and 3D work, but she's not a very good teacher, lol. So i wanted to learn AE and I found VCP.net and now i'm doing things with my PS and FW art that i never thought possible. Not to mention 3DSM and C4D. Once again, thank you for all the info you have provided.

Hey what´s up! Adrián Soto here, haha
Anyway I hope everything goes good in L.A. Best of Luck!

I just wanted to mention that Quentin Tarantino was in town (Morelia, Michoacán MEXICO) last month promoting his most recent film, Inglorious Bastards. I was lucky enough to meet him (he autographed a special edition of Resevoir Dogs I had yei!) and I used ACTION ESSENTIALS 2 for the titles I used in a 10 minute piece I did from the press conference he gave. Eli Roth was here too!

Your tutorials and products have taken my video productions to a new level and integrading 3d/2d into video is pure magic! INTEGRATION IS THE KEY!

I am now going to head back to California and study Animation and or Filmmaking, I currently have a B.A. in Journalism but I have always been into Advertising and Photography.

Any advice or recommendations anybody? I will be living in the north Bay Area.

Andrew it´d be great to meet you someday and see you in action! I plan on doing some film shorts and documentaries in the near future.

Your loyal Padawan, Adrian

Andrew if it is time for you to move on, and this is your chance, take it. You've done so much for the community for free. More that anyone I know. Don't feel embarrassed, intimidated or tied down. You have all the right to leave all of this behind and start a really prosperous career. Your skills and personality are worth millions. And if you feel that you shouldn't just go for the money, do it still and donate to charity.

It would be nice to hear from you once in a while though..

Andrew, they used your "ancient title" on Jay Leno thursday. I didn't see any recognition given to you and it looked like they just downloaded the project and changed the text. If i were you i'd check it out. The episode should still be on hulu.

We've learned so much from you and our project wouldn't be anywhere near as cool without your tutelage. Everything is so much appreciated, stay safe and look forward to learning more.

And of course hope this project gets you even more exposure.

A late response, but it must've been "V"! The latest episode used AT LEAST 3 VC tutorials - Earth Zoom, Disintegration, and a few other flashy/explodey techniques. ...Didja meet the hot blonde girl?
