Free Project: Golden Particles

Did you know that CC Particle World allows you to use an image (or texture) as a custom particle type? Just select the “Textured QuadPolygon” and a texture roll-out becomes available that allows you to choose a layer along with some other options.

Here is a fun project file that uses a custom particle type to create the image-based glowing lights.

You are up early, Andrew!

Andrew,
could you post a video example here, please?

Thank you very much!

Its class Thanks!

That’s cool! Can you create custom particles like in Particular? There seems to be so much you can do with Particular that CC Particle World will not allow you to. I’d like to learn more about the power of CC P W.
Thanks Andrew!

Pretty cool Andrew, I’ve always tried to do this, but whenever I used in image in CC particle, it would face the camera and look like poopy. This actually looks good!

wow thats beautiful.

Never cease to amaze.

First off, very nice effect. Am I just having a total brain lapse, or can you not color correct the PNG layer itself, but you have to color correct the particle layers? I’m a big fan of reusing code, so I like to only change things in one place. I suppose I could pre-compose the two particle layers with the PNG layer, then add an adjustment to that pre-composition.

I was just hoping I could color correct the PNG itself to quickly get the same effect.

Once again, nice job!

D’OH! So that’s how its done.

great Idea Andrew really i didn’t knew this :(
thank you so much :D

oh god, thanks Andrew :D there’s no chance you’d do Maya tutorials?

Thank you Andrew. I love your website!!

From Argentina, a big hug!

Hey Andrew, I was curious, I recently watched the movie “The Collector” and in the special thanks catergory it said “Andrew Kramer.” I was wondering did you have anything to do with the film or is it just pure coincidence?

wow! I didn’t know you could do this! I’ve been wanting to do it for all my After Effects life! Thanks heaps!

another great thing…

Hey very good, this is another amazing thing you have created dont just take it from me when i say this we all appreciate what your doing here it’s just great!

Please help me! The project is not working for me. My AE is CS3. I checked the post again and saw that the option in CC PW must be Textured QuadPolygon. I went back to AE and surprise! I don´t have this option. I think my version can be too old (v1.3). Can someone help me to see one more awesome Andrew´s project? Thanks a lot! cheers from Brazil!

hey andrew can u telll us how to make this please ;P

I’m using AE7 at work still (they’re tight) and ccPW has no tex quad polygon option.

Even if its simple, it looks so complex! Great work as usual Andrew! Thnx a Ton!

Totally awesome!

hi andrew ur the god of ae effects really .I m the dog Of AE pls god make me andrew.

Thanks for the free stuff man. You’ve totally been an inspiration in some of my work. Keep up the good stuff, many thanx.

hmmmm, so if you use a png for the particle texture, can you use the png transparency data to make nice cloudlet particles like you use in your tutorials on particular???

T h a n k s K r a m e r !
U’re the best for me in AE!

Awesome !!

Getting a strange error: Crash occurred while invoking effect plug-in “CC Particle World”
.. oh well it’s probably because my Mac feels itself so much better than a PC that it won’t display anything made on a PC

A small variation of the project just add a distortion

Oh iPutlucht, try making sure you have an up to date version of After effects Adobe released and up date to fix a persistent crash problem with CC particle world.

Looks cool, it just keeps crashing in CS4.

great tutorial.. andrew kramer rocks…

I tried adding a glow to the text, now it has a great effect. Just a thought you could try ;)
