More Frame Grabs

We shot mostly with RED and some Sony XDcam stuff. I decided to shoot hand-held to get a more intense feel. Of course running around with that thing on your shoulder is tough business. We stripped the camera down to just the essentials but the body itself can still give you the scoliosis. Lucky for me I already had some so it actually fixed me up.

We haven’t really done any editing or effects yet but when we do maybe we can get rid of my 5 O’clock shadow. It was a long week

You can download high resolution images right here.

BTW, I added some grain and color correction; the original RED footage is actually very clean.

Looks like you're enjoying the filming and compiling process of Action Essentials HD more so than the any of the other products you put together thus far. Personally I can't wait to see how it all comes together in the end. Something tells me this is going to be your best one yet. Good luck with the editing and effect, bro.

Good work!
I hope that if you shoot RED for some AMEHD elements, you might include the .R3d files in the product (or optional download?) for CS4 workflow integration. (It would be kind of cool to see more people work with RED footage within AE...there still seems to be a lack of good examples of RED+CS4 out there.

I for one would love more 2k+ elements..as I'm getting much more feature and high-end commercial work now, shot on Arri D-21 and RED.

Keep up the great work guys, stay safe.

WOW!

Ive spent that last 3 months planning a short film, and the last 3 weeks filming it, and none of the shots look even nearly as good as any of these!

Im so jealous!

I suppose i am only using a Sony V1, however i can only wish on the day that i get a chance to film footage this good!

Keep up the good work Andrew, your website is pretty much the main reason that ive manage to make it to my 3rd year at university!

Andrew,
You are great, man...a kind of digital philanthropist. Keeping with that thought, I need your help. I'm getting ready to do some effects for a film being shot on 4k. This will be my first time working with 4k.. I was wondering if you could please give me some pointers on the 4k workflow...I'm loosing sleep over this, haha, and I haven't been able to find any resources on a 4k VFX workflow. Any help would be so greatly appreciated!!

Thank you for your time,

Ahhh yes, I used to have an excellent beard, but it is gone (temporarily) on the wife's orders. She promises I can have it back soon... I wonder why they just don't understand the awesomeness that is a well trimmed beard? I understand kissing a bearded face could be annoying, but hey, it sure looks sweet!
Really looking forward to this product release Andrew. When my wife got me Pro Scores for my Birthday, it made me sooo happy. I doubt I'll be waiting for my birthday to come around again for this one. The promo video is looking slick, also can't wait to see that. Keep up the GREAT product development you're doing VCP. I think Andrew should modify a quote from a guy named Gary Vaynerchuk that he ends all of his web episodes with, and tag them onto the end of all your tutorials. "You, with a little bit of me, are changing the video world." Speaking of Gary V... check out the intro to his show sometime, it's got some neat motion graphics you might like Andrew.

March 24th, 2009 @ 9:23 am
The RED cam is incredibly heavy, even with just the essentials. I know I can only stand to lug the thing on my shoulder for maybe 20 minutes at a time, and it leaves scuff marks on your shoulder if you're doing any drastic movements.

Hope you had something to pad your shoulder with. The still frames look great.

Any chance of a tutorial down the line of how you approach working with R3D footage? I'm always interested to see if there's a better workflow.

Andrew I would love to chat with you if you had the chance or atleast adress the issue of the RED.

I've came to the same conclusion about the film grain.
We've been filming a show on the RED and up until Build 16 had to remove some noise but over all its almost too sharp and to clean so I've actually had to make a preset to slightly blur and grain up the image to make it look more like film.

I'd be interested to hear to what extent you've ran into this and how you are dealing with it.

Hi Andrew and everyone else,

This seems to be a nice movie! Hey Andrew, why don;t you make a tutorial how to remove grains instead of adding... Could this be possible?

Keep it up video copilot,

On my god. This is ridiculous.... How excited can one man be about an after effects tutorial and the release of this effects package. It's silly! I'm checkin' this site everyday. I don't even check movie trailers this much.

For god sake's man, put me out of misery... This is becoming torture.

I need a life! Any tutorials on how to get one????

Great work Kramer (Damn you).

Hey thanks so much for another AME Andrew. I have a question tho, will this pack be as easy to modify (color correct and animate) as the last one was? Cuz even tho the last pack wasnt all that realistic, i loved the ease of use. But either way you can NOT fail in my eyes.

Keep up the great work

March 25th, 2009 @ 9:49 pm
Hey Andrew, where did you shoot this? Seems like a pretty open place to shoot with prop weapons...most cops would freak out at the sight of that. Were you hidden away somewhere or had special permits?
March 26th, 2009 @ 12:52 am
Need a Steadicam ??? Call me !!! eheheh ;))
Great job Andrew ...

"...but I'd also like to see Spielberg's skills all put to the test in front of a "real" blank AE composition."

Can't wait for the new AME! It's going to be great! Thanks Master Kramer!

Hey Andrew!

Every single still and especially your police guy´s costume looks way better than basically everything I recently saw in the FarCry-"movie". Damn what a waste of money but that seems to be Uwe Bolls prefession...

I don´t know why I tell you this, I jast felt like it.

greetings!
March 27th, 2009 @ 6:04 am
Cool shots. Looks like a big-budget film shoot. Of course you and the gang can make anything look amazing. I kind of like the 5-o'clock shadow look. It fit the shoot perfectly. Looks like a CSI shoot. I can't wait to see what you do with the shots, but I am positive that it will be amazing.
March 27th, 2009 @ 4:54 pm

Awesome!
Red one is a nice camera!
Very nice:)

Youre the best man!
November 29th, 2011 @ 10:40 am
Looks very nice. Can you set different, "shutter speeds" like on the HVX?
I turn that sucker to 10o in film mode instead of the standard 1/60-180o and i get that razor sharp movement very little blending. All my sports clients flip for it.
