I hope that if you shoot RED for some AMEHD elements, you might include the .R3d files in the product (or optional download?) for CS4 workflow integration. (It would be kind of cool to see more people work with RED footage within AE…there still seems to be a lack of good examples of RED+CS4 out there.

I for one would love more 2k+ elements..as I’m getting much more feature and high-end commercial work now, shot on Arri D-21 and RED.

Ive spent that last 3 months planning a short film, and the last 3 weeks filming it, and none of the shots look even nearly as good as any of these!

Im so jealous!

I suppose i am only using a Sony V1, however i can only wish on the day that i get a chance to film footage this good!

This will be my first time working with 4k.. I was wondering if you could please give me some pointers on the 4k workflow…I’m loosing sleep over this, haha, and I haven’t been able to find any resources on a 4k VFX workflow. @_Parker McCabe…. In regards to your 4k workflow, get them to export the effects shots in DPX files. Composite your effects, then return DPX sequences.

Dude, looks awesome. I know what you mean about that RED footage being so clean. The video company I work for, we shot a video with it and the footage is totally the best I’ve ever seen. Ahhh yes, I used to have an excellent beard, but it is gone (temporarily) on the wife’s orders. She promises I can have it back soon… I wonder why they just don’t understand the awesomeness that is a well trimmed beard? I understand kissing a bearded face could be annoying, but hey, it sure looks sweet!
Really looking forward to this product release Andrew. When my wife got me Pro Scores for my Birthday, it made me sooo happy. I doubt I’ll be waiting for my birthday to come around again for this one. The promo video is looking slick, also can’t wait to see that. Keep up the GREAT product development you’re doing VCP. I think Andrew should modify a quote from a guy named Gary Vaynerchuk that he ends all of his web episodes with, and tag them onto the end of all your tutorials. “You, with a little bit of me, are changing the video world.” Speaking of Gary V… check out the intro to his show sometime, it’s got some neat motion graphics you might like Andrew.

Is this frames grabs all shot with RED? Can we see at least one frame without post ? Great stuff, man.

The RED cam is incredibly heavy, even with just the essentials. I know I can only stand to lug the thing on my shoulder for maybe 20 minutes at a time, and it leaves scuff marks on your shoulder if you’re doing any drastic movements.

Hope you had something to pad your shoulder with. The still frames look great.

Any chance of a tutorial down the line of how you approach working with R3D footage? I’m always interested to see if there’s a better workflow.

Andrew I would love to chat with you if you had the chance or atleast adress the issue of the RED.

I’ve came to the same conclusion about the film grain.
We’ve been filming a show on the RED and up until Build 16 had to remove some noise but over all its almost too sharp and to clean so I’ve actually had to make a preset to slightly blur and grain up the image to make it look more like film.

I’d be interested to hear to what extent you’ve ran into this and how you are dealing with it.
