In this new Tutorial, we’ll learn a powerful method of simulating distant falloff for 3D layers with the help of a handy new preset. This preset is free and can be downloaded with the project file.

KEWL tut….
Awesome tutorial Andrew!
Andrew plees give elvis project!:)))
Very Nice Thanks
I almost choked on my water when I read the comment by Lawrence. He said “You Sir are a gentlemen and a scallop” That was either a typo or just very funny.
I love you andrew. Rawr
Two Orbs… LOL
Thanks Andrew, it’s a great and useful preset!
ok! two orbs?????????? is this a hint for the radial wave effect? And hear I thought you were going to kick back and enjoy the Holidays with the family for a bit! Thanks for the preset and can’t wait to play with it. Also can’t wait to figure out that radial bit in the promo.
BEAUTIFUL!
thanks Andrew
Great info as always, Andrew!
Could you point out what are the disadvantages of using DOF instead of the preset. Is it slower? Or lesser control? Doesn’t look cool?
Thanks
awesome awesome awesome how ever!! thanks
Great Preset Mister!!
yes mister you’re making my day again.
Praise be onto you
haha verry nice tutorial! you can use this preset for the other tutorial with the text, dont know what its called
.
i didnt know that about Elvis! nice found!
Great tutorial. : )
Great tutorial Andrew. Helped me think about my own project more clearly.
You’re verging on genius. not that i’m a sycophant or anything.
Nice preset.
Merry Christmas.
Thank’s for tutorial! Can you tell me, what better use for faster final render: Hue&Saturation or Tint fx, if I want desaturate some stuff?
Will this preset work in CS3? I have all of the FANTASTIC Videocopilot presets aliased from CS3 to CS4 and for tidiness sake wish to keep this killer one in the CS3 folder.
It works with all versions of AE.
Thanks a lot
loved the Elvis joke!
Very impressive preset, thanks.
Hey Andrew, great tutorial…I do have a question, though. When you did that thing with Elvis, what was your method of zooming in on his sideburn…did you animate the camera’s movement or the other layers…I’m trying to do this effect with some text and am having some trouble…
Fantastic work as always, Andrew.
Thank you
Another great tutorial here Andrew.
Do you think this could also work with effects ?
Andrew did you forgot the after effects project file? Not the preset but the finished project is missing.
Hi Andrew,
in the French Translation of the Falloff preset, there is a small bug on accents in “caméra” and “foncée” that is shown in the expression line. It appears as “camÉra” and “foncÉe. So you need to change it in the expression line and then it works well. I stuggled a bit with that but that’s ok.
Is there a way to save the changes of the expression?
I struggle a bit with the settings of the fades but I have to practice more.
Anyway, your site is the best to learn AE. Keep it up as it is just amazing.
Cheers
kiki
