umm nice i think the really nice thing is the forum option (a really nice one) but i think the new design is just ok. i think you need to use all that space in the left side and the right side. for example the web page of your Basic Tutorials is a nice design.
congratulations.

August 1st, 2008 @ 6:31 pm
Uh...
Well it isn't what I was expecting. Yeah its NICER but the updates are pretty much miniscule. I think the only advantage this new version brings is the forums. But what I don't understand is why it took so long.
August 1st, 2008 @ 6:36 pm
minuscule? I think perhaps the simplicity is misleading you into this presumption. What you don't see is quite perplexing, even for me.
August 1st, 2008 @ 6:38 pm

Awesome! I love this place! Great new site. You keep on delivering,.. above and beyond the call! You rock!

I am dying to take advantage of the 15% off and want to pick up Twitch and Bullet, but it is not accepting the VC4 coupon code. And I can't seem to get back to my "Cart", there's no Cart link anywhere that I can find. Is the coupon thing something that will take a while to kick in?
August 1st, 2008 @ 6:56 pm
Yeah... those stars are just temporary for the site launch. Just a fun homage...
August 1st, 2008 @ 6:57 pm
WOW,i waited till midnite so i could see the site be launched, man it's better really en thanks to you guys for all this. Kramer OYEEEEEE!!!!!

August 1st, 2008 @ 7:02 pm
Yeah i don't think ben up there has ever done any web design before. There is a lot of time and effort that goes into a complete site redesign. Especially with the more dynamic content, and making sure that you don't break anything in the process. Of course, you had to know there would be one person who either wouldn't like the site or wouldn't be that impressed by it, oh well. It looks great! Just more to enjoy!
August 1st, 2008 @ 7:08 pm
I was F5 cause i wanted to post the first post... but i had to go to work... so i lost it... lol

New website looks simple and perfect... for the job that is for... :)

Thanks for the knowlegde u give us....
August 1st, 2008 @ 7:10 pm
Andrew, are you going to be posting in the blog when there is a new tutorial or keeping that information in the tutorial feed? I subscribed to the old blog, I'm wondering if i need to subscribe to both in order to stay updated on current tutorials. awesome work!

I was a bit fast to judge andrew.
Your team has done well. I was just kind of miffed that the front end didn't get an overhaul. I can tell that a lot of backend work was done to this site.
All in all its a great update to a great site.

Wow love the website Andrew! Can't wait for the new tutorials time to sign up in the forums.
August 1st, 2008 @ 7:33 pm
Thanks Ben, the truth is I really liked the old site, it was just hard to update and track info etc. I tried to keep the spirit alive with this one but make it a little more modern. Of course that requires an entire overhaul. I figure people liked the site for the most part... I figured it best not change it too much :)

In fact the main navigation buttons are a slightly altered version from the original site I created back in early 2005, they've been the backbone.
Tim
August 1st, 2008 @ 7:35 pm
OH MAN

I feel like 2008 just started! haha

This is typical Andrew style... everything you wanted and a few things you never even thought of! Congrats on an awesome website upgrade!

I'm lovin' the fact the site didn't visually change too much as I was a big fan of how clean it was and easy to nav. But this new one sure seems to be a great improvement over the previous one. Subtle changes can be real headaches in the backend. TOPS EFFORT VCP CREW! Youse guys did grouse!

@ Aaron

I have just updated the blog feed to work again. I didn't realize that changing the way the url's looked would affect this but apparently it has, so there is a new url you can use now. I also managed to get the old url for the blog feed to redirect to the new one, so you shouldn't even have to change anything.

The forums are awesome but it would be great if there was one for independent filmmakers. I'm located here in Los Angeles but I've been thinking about collaborating on a film project with people in Europe.

I got the idea a few years ago at a Motion Graphics Los Angeles meeting where Scott Billups did a presentation about collaborating with people in other countries...

http://www.pixelmonger.com/home.html

Anyway, it seems like a great way for indy filmmakers to connect.

I have to admit I'm not overly impressed. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE what you've done for the world of motion graphics Andrew, but the new site is exactly the same as the last, just with a different layout. Yeah, it's probably more efficient and easier to navigate, but I feel like I'm looking at VideoCopilot.net v2.1., not v3.

Good job on the re-launch, but I was kinda hoping for a blow-me-away new interface design and content display. I guess I can wait until v4.

As far as we can tell the site is good in IE 6, 7, Firefox and Safari. We of course recommenced Firefox. Most of the visitors to this site actually use fox.

August 2nd, 2008 @ 5:30 am
Congrats on the redesign! The "Rollover Video Thumbnails" work really slick!

@Andrew Kramer: Did you have to generate each rollover manually, or did you automate the process of doing so? Teaching people how to do this is worth a tutorial unto itself, because there are too many static previews for videos on the web!
August 2nd, 2008 @ 5:30 am
Coolness!

Have you heard the softwer called PFtrack ... but this is a powerful program of tracking ... not excluding the Boujou is clear ...

The forum is what I've been hoping for for a while. Seems to be off to a great start. VCP is on its way to becoming the premier AE community online (and possibly premier VFX community, too).

Hi Andrew i like the new layout of your webpage. nice work.
August 2nd, 2008 @ 1:47 pm
Just another great feature and one that had always bugged me about VC3 was that when you were on the tutorials page and you hit refresh, it didn't remember how far down you the page you had scrolled. Well, we fixed that this time around, woohoo!
August 2nd, 2008 @ 2:36 pm
Just an fyi for the forum. If you want to post a YouTube video, use this code in your post:

[flash=425,350]http://www.youtube.com/v/neAiLZcy8Qk[/flash]

You just put the url in between the flash opening and closing tags and the 425,350 is the width and height.

[flash=width,height]YouTube URL[/flash]

Hmm ok this site is works.
But Im missing eye orgasmic graphics.
I really hoped that this site would be the most advanced mix between flash, after effects and excellent computer graphics :D
Less is bore / Less is more... is in the eye of the beholder, so who am I to decide.

Love your work, good luck

Well i think the new site looks really really great. Although, I do not think that this revision was needed, the old site was just find, i can understand the needed update from the old videocopilot to the previous , but i feel like this upgrade is kind of pointless, It looks great, very clean and everything, but just seems a little unnecessary

other than that though, it really does look great

Could you please add a "fit to screen" feature for the tutorials? Since I started watching these tutorials a couple of months ago I have to chose between seeing the top meny (file etc.). Long story short, the videos right now is just about 10 pixels to big on the height or my screen is too small... fit to screen would be fantastic!
