Still Alive ; )

Hey Everyone!
I’ve been working hard on some new projects, including setting up the server and a new unknown product set for September. I want to thank Marc Biorklund for his computer help and direction for preparing the new servers and home for Video Copilot. We are laying some impressive ground work that should make the site better and easier to update, which can only mean more content.

I’m still planning a tutorial for monday, and yes it is the day to night one. No baby yet, but sometime in the next couple of weeks, I have a feeling.

A baby! Congratulations! Or perhaps there will be soon enough. Make sure you post many pictures. I was an uncle at the age of 14, and I absoulutly LOVE my little nephew. Share that love (and many times more I'm sure, considering you will be a FATHER) with all of us!

I must admit though, my first thought was rather selfish: "A new father ain't gonna want to make more tutorials!". However I think that perhaps you deserve some time off! I don't know how you have time to read the hundreds of comments here, run you're own buisness, and do video copilot stuff! Thanks for all the good work you put into making this FREE stuff for us all.

Again, pre-congratulations to you and your wife and you soon to be child.

July 29th, 2007 @ 6:44 am
send pics!
July 29th, 2007 @ 6:59 am
Congratulations to Andrew and his wife. When can we expect some info on the unknown September product. I'm sure were excited about this news. To Andrew and the VC team keep up the good work!!

Why not just split the file? Besides, I wouldn't recommend to compress the video too much, because youtube would compressing it again and you will get a very bad looking result. My last video on youtube was about 40 MB and it was only 3 minutes long. Youtube compressed it to about 6 MB and so I got a relatively good quality of the resulting youtube video. So, my advice is: use a high bitrate and split the files every 10 minutes. Try to get 10 minutes of your video to take up 100 MB. Also check out the youtube help center and this site:
Good luck!

Videocopilot's alive!!! I love the work you're doing to make the site faster, I love the fact that you'll be releasing tutorials, I love the fact that you're releasing a new product soon but I NEED to say CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR BABY, MAN! ;)

You rock and I honestly couldn't think of anyone better to run this site. Not Einstein, not Hawking, not Gates, not Benedict XVI, not even the guy who invented the Chupacabra! :P
July 29th, 2007 @ 8:54 am
Hey! I found this nice site today, and i've checked a few of the tuts... very nice! But it will require a lot of time to get pro like you, so i wonder, is there a chip to implant in your brain to get instant knowledge?=\

Have a nice day!
July 29th, 2007 @ 9:08 am

I am sure you will be a proud pappa, and will undoubtedly take some amazing footage of the birth. As a long time father and husband though I have to warn you that even if you have had a few drinks and it seems like a really cool idea at the time you wife will probably get miffed if she finds footage of the birth on the net with the baby popping out wielding lightsabers and having a demon face.
July 29th, 2007 @ 9:21 am
lol Hans xD
July 29th, 2007 @ 9:27 am
Hows about you give us a forum so we can talk amongst ourselves whilst your off raising your kid? ;)

ET entertainment

I dont think that Andew will raise him/her up from a little boy/girl to do after effects! I think Andrew will wait till his son/daughter is old enough to be interested in his stuf. I dont think he will be forcing it to his kids.

Look forward to the new product announcement mate, and now it seems you will have a great new resource from which to record new "abstract sounds" for DSFX 2.
July 29th, 2007 @ 11:20 am
Woo new tutorial tommoz and woo your gonna have a kid. He/She better be good at after effects, then they can continue writing tutorials if you stop. Do you know if its a boy or girl or are you keeping that hidden from us too?

Andrew - are you going to do a baby sale? Kind of like when you got married.

@ Everyone

Every monday he posts a new tutorial... Sometimes he does a speacial in the middle of the week.
July 29th, 2007 @ 12:15 pm
I think you are going to be a great dad! Best wishes to you and your family! But don't forget us once your baby comes cause you got a rather large on-line family too. Gosh I have a feeling like I already know some of the people that are usually posting. It's nice and friendly here. That's why we are all regularly coming back to check the site to see what is new!

July 29th, 2007 @ 12:25 pm
theres a polish advertice in poland including the earth zoom and belive me it is exactly the same like yours!

take a look at my website, its empty but what do you think about the flash at the beginning?
July 29th, 2007 @ 12:32 pm
Congratulations from me too!

Is there any chance, that you could make a tutorial on workflow stuff? "from cut to post" or something? I´d normally do the cutting first and then move the whole project into After Effects. But I´m sure that there are other ways or at least work flow optimizing tips.

Greetings from pretty rainy Berlin!
July 29th, 2007 @ 12:33 pm
Great tutorials! Can't wait for the day-for-night. Believable DfN is kinda tricky. There's a lot of subtle stuff involved.

Here's a DfN breakdown that I did for a project a while back. I figured I'd put it online in case it can help anyone.

I'm looking forward to AK's tutorial adding some new techniques to the arsenal! Keep up the great work.

Congrats to you & your wife

July 29th, 2007 @ 1:11 pm

In the future we're maybe going to see another Kramer on the web, with killer tutorials!

Lots of luck and we'll be waiting the arrival of AK Jr.

July 29th, 2007 @ 8:38 pm
awesome! sounds good.. ill be on the watch out for it!
July 29th, 2007 @ 8:42 pm
Didnt mean any disrespect to Andrew or anyone else. Just a play on words is all it was.
July 29th, 2007 @ 8:48 pm
Here's a system that worked for my wife & I. In the middle of the night, when the baby wakes up, YOU get up and change the diaper then bring the baby to her in bed. Then you go back to sleep and she feeds the baby. Good system. Sleep While You Can!!!

BTW my three children all have milestone birthdays this year… 21, 18 and 13. Andrew, right where you are is the best time of your life. Believe it or not, this is the best. I wish I could turn back the clock and be where you are now. Enjoy it bro.
July 29th, 2007 @ 9:41 pm
Are you going to let Sam hold the baby?
Daniel Reynoldsd
July 29th, 2007 @ 9:52 pm
Congrats on the baby! If I had wise words to say, I would :)
July 29th, 2007 @ 10:12 pm

I doubt the kid will even want to have anything to do with after effects at the age of 5, I got an interest sometime last year when i was 11, even tho i knew alot about computers by that time(Been doing CG stuff since I was 8, started making Video Tutorials when i was 10)
July 29th, 2007 @ 10:15 pm
Oh also a question to andrew, does Sam Loya have a youtube account? cuz i got a PM from somone who claimed to be sam, checked out his profile, he has 2 videos of sam, one when he played guitar for a mad tv joke, one where he was on a US show like 24 or somthing, and it says age 28 from US.
July 29th, 2007 @ 11:05 pm

July 29th, 2007 @ 11:54 pm
Not a sequel. What about demon movie essentials...or horror movie essentials...or time lapsed flowers. That must be it, the flowers. I hate not knowing. I already want whatever it is.
July 30th, 2007 @ 12:20 am
Tutorial is coming along, it may not be up until late in the day tomorrow (monday evening).

Keep the spam down guys, I don't want bad hacking Karma here.

Congrads on the baby! My wife and I just had our first one as well. He is about 3 months old now and growing leaps and bounds. They are a lot of fun. Just remember they take a lot of time too!! Good luck, and if things slow down online, we will understand! Love
July 31st, 2007 @ 11:00 am
Andrew, I certainly congratulate you on the baby's birth! But maybe not so much on the birth of your new servers. I've been unable to logon to a few times in the past 2-3 days...Never had a problem before that!
