New Dedicated Servers

Well our plan was to transition to new dedicated servers over the next few months but I’ve noticed more down time lately and we are now going to be aggressively transitioning to them over the next couple of weeks.

Things used to slow down towards the end of the week but I guess things are changing rapidly. *sniffle* I love you guys.

a lot of people do not count AE as a compositing program... so please prove them to be wrong...

any idea how you could make a tattoo animate on to someones face realisticaly in a moving image? is it possible to use some sort off mesh to mimic the contours of thier face, track and manipulate it acording to the footage, and then mask the tattoo on???...
can AE do it or does it need a £d app?
please help i need this effect for a music video im doing...

you... and your tutorials rule...

Wouldn't you just use the demon face tutorial mixed with a displacement map so it contours?

hey andrew, does that mean the sites going to be down for a while? I hope not, I literally check this site 10x plus a day for updates. I dont know if you got my tut request but I was wondering if you could do a tut on realistic shell ejection for guns.

--------------------------------

I think its possible if you use tracking on the face, then maybe distort the tattoo over time with displacement or corner pin or liquify.. I u use liquify you can maybe mimic the contours of the face..

Search for tattoo tutorial on photoshop, to learn about which blending mode to use and so on.

naim alwan:

Here is the tutorial for how to get the tattoo to grow.

http://www.creativecow.net/articles/hansen_jaysen/growing/index.html

Past that you are going to have to be really creative with the deformation and liquify tools in AE to match it to the face.

To get the tattoo to look like it's on the skin, double up the original footage & play with the blending modes using a double of the tattoo as a matte. Basically use the orig footage to texture the tattoo itself.

Aww, well we want to put the same thanks back! You have been nothing but helpful with everything! Your tutorials are awesome, no more than awesome, wonderful. I will go to no one else for help on Adobe After effects. Your paid tutorials are so amazing I cant find the words for them. So worth the money I paid for them. And your free ones are so awesome also! I love watching them over and over just to learn and learn. Who ever thought learning can be fun? Well you dominate that question.

And now your getting a better server just for us, gosh that is so nice of you. Wow, the things you do for us Andrew. I am going to try to make sure that you know that I'll be here if you need anything at all.

Thank You So Much!
So much luck on your next tutorials, and filmmaking. Have fun, because I know I am.

A once again thanks,

Hey Andrew,

I think Jacob Aaron summed it up pretty well. I first discovered videocopilot a little over a year ago. After Effects was this huge program I desprately wanted to learn, but I didn't know where to start. Your website has made learning so much fun, and has only increased my desire to learn more, and kind of like a bad drug the more I learned, the more I wanted to learn. I have spent many nights awake on my computer watching your tutorials over and over again making sure I hadn't missed a single step, so that by breakfast time, I could pretty much do the tutorial, word for word.

Thank You Andrew for spending so much time creating tutorials that are easy to follow, funny as hell, and most importantly informative. I have been and always will be a huge fan of you and the website you've spent so much time creating.

Sam Gilbert

p.s. I am working on a demo and will post a link soon

Another really short teaser for our "Mr. Berringer" flick is up on my blog. Just posted it today. We finish filming in a couple of weeks. You can bet your butts that it'll be jam packed with Action Movie Essentials, Riot Gear, and Designer Sound Effects. I'm trying to figure out a way to get that demon face in there too! haha! kidding....not for this project.

July 27th, 2007 @ 11:20 am
we all love you Andrew ..

hope all the best for videocopilot.net ..

btw : could u make a tutorial about to do the time-slice effect (freeze and then the camera go around the object in freeze world) -> like matrix ?

i heared that it's required more than 10 cameras recording at least in same time to do it .. but maybe you have another idea ?

thanks again Andrew
Zony
July 27th, 2007 @ 3:09 pm
@ m7md0o

That tutorial your asking for , i mean the one with the Matrix freeze effect, i must say is completly to do in AE, to get this u need more than just 10 cameras, u need more like 100 cameras ( and this is not camcorders, they make it with stills) and it requires pro work to set these cameras in a perfect circle. and these cameras each take 1 or maybe 2 ( i dont remember ) picture. so this freeze effect is made kinda like u make a cartoon movie, where u draw 1 drawing and then do another one another one etc. and they make a small movement each in each drawing.

BUT - if are trying to make this effect without the cameras and stuff, the only way to achieve this , is to use a 3D program and model your character to look like the person u want to freeze.

there is no way to make this like matrix , with 1 camcorder. sorry to say so.. ;)

u could ofc make all your actors stand still and the run around and film a frozen world if u want :D

Actually you should buy the Matrix on DVD and just watch behind the scenes, u learn alot mate ;)

peace.
Titso
July 27th, 2007 @ 4:23 pm
Ah just what i thought, they use many cameras, well then i better start working like hell with 3D modelling:P
michael
July 27th, 2007 @ 5:49 pm
the dudes right... There's no way to make the matrix freeze effect with only one camera... BUT it is possible to do bullet time in After Effects!!
Or when the helicopter smashs into the glass building in the first movie, i guess you could do that with a green screen, a ripple, shatter and a few different layers!

You run a quality site here with the best free tutorials on the net. But I think it would be less strain on your servers and more convenient for people if you provided an offline version people could download to their computers. I know everytime I come back here to view a tutorial again, for some reason it isn't cached and it has to be downloaded all over again. Anyway keep it up man, your work is really appreciated.

The tutorials will be available for your portable devices (most likely via iTunes), the tutorials will be on youtube, and Andrew is planning on making them availabe on DVD for a small price of $20.

I assume that the tutorials are not Cached because the videos are streamed from a server (but i could be wrong).

July 28th, 2007 @ 2:37 pm
@Zony:
I think Andrew just want to spare the blog's database by not announcing a new tutorial. Remember the last time, when people got a little bit off topic and talked about what countries they are from and how Andrew Kramer is written in their language and when Andrew sleeps and stuff (that actually showed how significant it is for us to have a forum *hint*). Maybe I'm wrong and Andrew will post a new blog entry right after I click on "Submit Comment". Or maybe he has an even better tutorial than the last one and he just want to make an impact on Monday surprising the whole world with his superhuman skills. Or maybe he's just busy...
