Im running on AFFX CS6, my issue here is the ''Source Text'' thing, it wont work, i did the Alt + click and linked the text with the maintext (first text layer created), and still nothing ;c, heeelp.

Hi, Love the tuts But I am having a problem with this one. I am using CS6 and for some reason I can't get all of my text to pick wipe to one source. I have tried it several times now but just can't gt it. Do you know what is the problem? Is it me or a bug in CS6? Thanks.

Hi, I am having a problem with the vegas effect. It is as if I have the eyeball unchecked, I cannot see the balls or any part of the effect at all. What could I have done wrong?

If you press F4 or hit the "Toggle switches/modes" button at the bottom of the timeline window it will reveal the modes. "Alpha Inverted Matte" is under the trkmatte setting for each layer.

You may see a button at the bottom of the timeline that says "Toggle Switches/Modes" that may then show the drop-down to choose luma matte.

Just a question for my new God. Say early on, you've pick wiped everything together..position, scale, etcetera because it seemed like a quick way to re-size your initial three layers to fit within the Title/Action Safe Area, then you find yourself deep in symbiotic duplicated layers and you cannot then do something like move your "Name This" or any other layer forward on the Z access...is there a quick way to disconnect them or do I need to go through each layer and delete all the code??

- Select your layers you want to batch-change
- Change the paranting-pulldown menu on one of the layers
- Et Voila: all the selected layers change

Hey Andrew,

Does it have to be a stroke with no fill,
Maybe it is just the font I am using but when I make the stroke bigger on the original file, it doesn't just fill the inside - it fills both the inside and outside....doesn't look right like yours...

Have tried this tutorial literally a dozen times and just cannot seem to get it to work at all. Does it have to do with your font selection? The whole pickwhip thing doesn't do anything and I can't create this adjustable top layer. Also, the stroke function seems to behave completely different on my system. Copied your settings verbatim on my screen and still no dice. Please explain.

Hi Andrew!
Great tutorial as usual. You should know a funny thing about this. I just noticed that one of the logos from your project file is actually being used in a swedish TV show in one of their episodes! It's a kind of candid camera show called "Balls of Steel". Amazing how a serious production company just steals your thing and put on their show without any editing of their own except for the change of text.

what font should I use?
I have Mac OS X so I wanted to know what font should be recommended the most for this project. I wanted to use the Transformers Movie Font while I following the steps on this project but it didnt come out too well when I raised the px on the stroke.

The vegas effect will not work for me. I have turned off accepting lights. It will work for the regular letters but not the stroke. I asked my professor and one of the top students but they do not know why it isn't working either. Please help me!

Wow, thank God for this comment, haha. I'm on CS3, and I had this same problem. Glad I decided to read through these comments. Once I applied the Vegas effect, nothing came up! I did what Andrew said. Then I followed what "Jakob" said, and now the Vegas effect appears. Thanks guys.

Hey....Select the Text layer and change the color to any other color....other than BLACK.
Then the VEGAS effects appears.
That worked for me..hope it works for you.

Create a new solid. Make it blue. Make a mask in the form of a circle.

Click effects -> noises -> fractal noise. Feather it out. Hit effects -> Generate -> CC light rays. And there you go. Animate the Fractal Noise and place the light rays in the center.
