Just a tip to you and/or the viewers.

If you're tired of the wiggle effect. Try using Motion sketch!
Motion sketch can either capture the movement of your mouse, or you can pickwhip a real-footage that is tracked, to the motion sketch null, and voila! YOu've got reallife movement!!

Great stuff as usual! But wouldn't it be more physically accurate to use the actual acceleration of the layer to drive the emission rate of the particles, rather than checking if the speed exceeds a certain value?

I haven't used AE much yet, but if it doesn't offer an easy expression to obtain the acceleration (like "layer.position.acceleration" or something like that), you could easily approximate it by subtracting the speed at the previous frame from the speed at the current frame.

Do you give lessons in after effects? Your tutorials are great and I would realy like to understand aftereffects as good as you.

The part with the lessons was not a joke, I'm realy interessted.

Nice tutorial. I'm trying to learn so I can use it for some of my club's presentation. But there is some problem I always encounter. The expressions I type keep "breaking up". The particular suddenly stops following the expression and keeps emitting particles. Then I have to retype it again. Then breaks up again. HOw can i solve this?

I think you should come to the Savannah College of Art and Designs inspire conference next year! I think you would really inspire a lot of us students to really dig deep into after effects and create some great work.

Go to the Edit > Preferences > User Interface Colours

Then just slide the Brightness control down

I had the same thought as Peter (way above) that using acceleration rather than speed to drive the emitting could be useful. Can you think of a way to do that?
