Special Note: EXPERIMENT!
Be sure to play with the matte layer by changing the size of the bugs and the opacity to increase or decrease the displacement amount.
This way you can make some bugs that extrude more and others less.

Great tutorials, i've just found that im having one problem, my matte for the bug is not in sync with the glass filter, both follow the same bath but the bug matte is further behind than the glass layer, even though their moving at the same speed.

When I use the CCS glass on the worm it doesn´t become like it is behind the skin.It stays like a white circle. I am using a photo instead of a video. is that the problem?Whats wrong?Probably you can´t answer my question if you are not with me, but anyway, Thank you.

hi Andrew just wondering would you be able to make a video on how to motion track a turning person im trying to make it so the bugs go round to the persons back from their front like they are facing the camera and the bug starts crawling from the top of their pants then goes up to around their middle then starts crawling round to their back while the person turns their back to the camera to show it crawling round from their front to their side to their back if you or anyone could show me how to do this that would be awesome my emails derekconroyno2@hotmail.com

i boughtur tutorial on how you can make moving planets but i think i would prefere you explain more on the chemistry pathern and using expresions so i could understand better but anyway i really again alot on others (laugh) moving object on human body i love it thanks

I used this tutorial to create a 'muscle' like substance. I just used a bump map and used the exact technique you taught. It doesn't make the arm look wider, but just muscular.

This is the website that I have been hoping for. You make all this look ......"easy" AMAZING ! Now, do not throw rocks at me....pleaaaase But I have to ask if the "Skin Displacement" and "Demon" tuts are available or will be available for FCStudio....?

Awesome tutorial!!! You definitely saved the day... The CC Glass filter (combined with a Swirly Fractal Noise for the displacement map) worked awesome for displacing a static image of some fabric. Used on a very quick "drapes blowing in the wind" overlay we needed.

Great job Andrew amazing how you figure out stuff i wouldnt come up with.
I got a little extra to add:
You could make another adjustment layer and add a skin texture to it, then mask it with the layer your already using for masking, and that will also help for making the bugs not too "glossy"

Hey Mr AE **Big Shot**! Not happy. Checked under my mattress for my tracker controls and what do you think I found? That's right, NOTHING! Also, there is nothing AT ALL in the Adobe After Effects Knowledge Base about mattresses! What do you think of that huh?! You'd think someone else would've found their tracker controls there but noooo.... I thought I was getting somewhere when the Adobe Customer Support dude started asking me about spring rates etc but after 5 minutes of technical mumbo jumbo he admitted that it was unlikely that my tracker controls would be in this part of the house. I KNEW IT! Anyway, just a warning to you guys out there. This mattress thing is bogus, OK. Take my word for it.

Thanks Andrew! Again another fine tutorial that can be broken down and used a 1000 other ways in other projects. The mans a genius at putting together deep and concise tutorials. I would love to know just how long these things take from the original idea to the final output. Ever greatful for the time you give us all and looking forward to making my first purchase with Video co-pilot!

I woulda just stopped after i got the bug looking nice lol
you went way and beyond, so it got difficult to follow. I hate that displacement map, and track matte stuff....Great tutorial though, i will be trying it soon

i hav created a bug in 3d max... while i was waiting for this tutorial to come out...
i tried using particular to create the same effect used in the movie, Mummy... Bugs from out of the mouth....
Precision wasnt even 50% of tht of andrew's... but the idea kinda worked out well...
Andrew if u can, see if u could help us with a tut if time permits with something similar.(need more professional help)....

Another Great Tutorial!
Could you create a bug in a 3D program, and use that as the bug. That way you could have it coming out of the skin aswell. Would that work?

But how could you do it to make it appear as if one of the bugs breaks through the skin and crawls on the face back into the nose or mouth or back through the same hole?? Just an idea. Again thanks your a great teacher.

I've always wanted to do the Matrix "morph" where neo jumps inside of Smith or something, and Smith's face gets displaced just like Sam's face in this tutorial. And now thanks to Andrew Kramer I'm finally able to, thanks a lot man!

Amazing tutorial Andrew ! 50th tutorial, its Halloween, and Sam is more terrified than ever .
As soon as the school bell rang, I hopped up on my bike and peddled as fast and as recklessly as I could. Almost got hit by a car like 4 times, BUT IT WAS WORTH IT! First thing I did was fire up the ol' PC and head straight to Video Copilot. Once again, awsome tutorial.
