Why not just drop saturation a bit with hue/saturation? Whouldn't that do the trick? Then you'd have even more control.

Great Tutorial! Also, I'd like to point out a typo in your description for this particular Tutorial. Where it should say "*Can be used in earlier versions of AE" it actually says 'an'. ; )
