Andrew, why did you use "Remove Color Matting"? It is easier to just set the Alpha to premultiplied, cause 3ds Max renders this way. And you would not get a fringe on the edges at colorcorrection.

For those who do not know how to set it to Premultiplied: Right click on the PNG sequence - go to Interpred Footage - and choose Premultiplied under Alpha. You can also press Guess if you not sure.

I have a Null Object layer controlling the XY position of the Particular emitter.

As soon as I make that Null a 3D Layer, the particles disappear.

I have the trapcode of particular, but the animation presets of particular only have "None" I have all the t_xxxxxxx but all of them are in format .gif and after effects doesn't recognize it.

But sometimes it's frustrating when I am going through this tutorial only to find I don't have Trapcode Particular installed. Even more frustrating to see it cost $299.99.

So nice tut, but I, myself can't use it since I don't have the right tools. I like the ones you do that only feature the things that can be done with a stock version of AE CS3.

I'm sure someone else has said this, but the fringe is a result of AE expecting unpremultiplied RGB in the PNG sequence, and you should interpret the footage as premultiplied (since this is how it comes out of 3DS.)

I always get a black background.. like when I batch render... and when I try to get rid of it in AE by keying it out... you can tell that the edges are rough,even after feathering it.. please if you could explain detailed how to render from 3ds max for compositing in AE without black background?
