I'm using after effects cs6 and when I turn the masked text layer into a 3d layer it loses its animation. All keyframes still exist, but removing the 3d layer brings the mask animation back...I'm a little confused

but can you make another video where you can sketch a persons photo as you sketch the word here.
if your not understanding what i am saying see the
movie sherlock holmes 1 and at the ending (last part) holmes get sketches up .

That is the charm of Mr Kramer. If you don't like it, don't watch his tutorials. There are plenty of otherwise boring tutorials out there that would satisfy an ungrateful person such as yourself. Andrea has you totally pinned.

I tried the animated text in a new composition and it worked. But then when I put the composition into a new composition, it didn't work. I have no idea why. I'm using Adobe After Effects CS 5.5

yo yo if u want the texture's just use anything alse that looks like a ground and wall u dont have to use the same as the tutorial's and if u do want the samw then buy the riot gear :/ and andrew thanks for all ur hard work till now i have no problems ;) all done and great

After I select grunge_gray_04.jpg to add the wall, nstead of a wall I get the typical vertical color lines, the ones that appeared on VHS. It seems as if my AE cs4 cannot recognize the files!
Please Help!

Thx for your sharing , but I have a problem ,when I drop the 'Paint_01.mov' to project, AE cs5 tell me it can't be use,it said:cannot be imported -this '.mov'file is damaged or unsupported.Please tell me how to solve it.

lets say it was Andrew Kramer instead of just Andrew and i wanted to do 2 masks making it scribble both names at the same time.. how would i do it? becoz i tried it and yet only the 1st name scribbles but not the last name.

it depends on the version u r using. if u r using the trial version some of the text u see in the video u will not have. the full version has the complete package including all the text

you first have to download/buy trapcode suite from red giant or wherever and on the installer when it asks for location to save to, go to a file called OS (C:) then go to program files (x86) then adobe, after effects, support files, presets, install and bam!! your ready mate!
i hope i explained this right :P

my text doesnt reveal when I press onto the 3D layer box, and when I roll it without clicking into the 3D layer box the text is simply just on the screen and not attached to the wall, what am I doing wrong?

I was wondering if there is any way to have a particle generator follow the stroke as it's being written on, kinda like make it a welding effect. If that makes sense. I've been trying to figure out how to do it for days and it's so frustrating.
